  • Foscam HD Cameras - Port Forwarding
This tutorial shows you how to see your camera remotely from any outside network, which requires port forwarding. Forwarding ports in your router allows incoming connections into your camera which is connected to your router. In this video we show you how to log into a Linksys Cisco router, navigate to the Port Forwarding settings, and forward the ports in the router for the camera. We also show you how to find out your external IP address once the ports have been forwarded so that you can use this to access your camera from any outside network and even on your smartphone!

Thanks, your video helped me get it done, Best I found. Have a AT&T router but after watching I understood, After I had it working I unhooked the cable and moved it. When it went wireless I had to go in and forward the port in wireless mode but was easy , Thanks for taking the time to post this video

I have a Foscam FI88910W cam. I spent months trying to configure the camera to view over the web. I was able to see the video from within my local network using the camera IP and open port but never using the external IP or my No-Ip account. I even talked to Foscam Support & Belken without success. I switched to a d-link router & setup port forwarding using latest vid on your site

Nicely done. Helpful. My foscam has a secure port and a stream port. I assume that these need to be port forwarded as well?

Glad your router supports NAT loopback. You are accessing the WAN access from inside the LAN. Without NAT loopback, you would not have been able to access your camera which is also inside your LAN. A better demonstration would have been showing you accessing the camera from outside the Internet.

As a general practice, it is not a good idea to use well-known TCP ports (i.e., those 1024) for custom applications. Good rule of thumb: always use port #'s > 1024...

Followed you step by step and keep getting "Port Overlap Occurred, Please Change Your Entry". When I hit save in my port forwarding section. I made sure my firmware was up to date. I followed the video quite a few times to make sure it wasn't anything I missed. I'm using the Cisco E1200 router. No website has been able to help me so far.

Do you have one for netgear? I am stuck on the port forwarding part in the netgear.

My Foscam port setting shows, HTTP port 8080, HTTPS port 443 and ONVIF Port 888. I tried the 8080 and it's not seeing outside of my home network.
-edit- I just realized my Netgear router is not listing the camera on its SSID list. The camera is connect using WPS, not sure where to find in the router.

My questions is this. I wish to setup my foscams in one of my out buildings. I have my main computer, dsl modem, and router in my office. I have a buried phone line to the outbuilding where I have another desktop computer and router. This is the where I wish to place my foscam.
Since I need a static IP, do I set up my static ip on the first router in my office with no cam, or do I set it up on the router in the outbuilding, or both?
I plan on being able to view my foscam both on my computer, and my smartphone.

Have to tell you, I was ready to give up for the remote access, but it would defeat the purpose, the main reason we choose foscam was because of the remote access. I was able to get it set up the right way, only downside, you guys should create an app for Windows phones :-(, not sure if there is a work around on how to connect from a windows phone, I get a plugin error.

      +Joey m insist
try again the port is what allow remote access
create a media port on your gateway even if not asked in the software, it cannot hurt

    http => 80, https => 443, ONVIF => 888
choose "TCP" for 80, 443 port forwarding setting in router is easy,
but neither TCP nor UDP does not work for ONVIF, what should I do?

    good tutorial
worked fine on chrome windows 10, & IE , only Push mode (active X mode does not work no I undestand it is as active x is not supported undes windows 10 "edge" that replace IE, but it works fine still with IE)
Netgear gateway CBVG834G (cable&voice network) and FI8910W (cheap) camera.
had some trouble first, then I forwarded the port 888 without being asked "media port" anywhere.
The camera firmware does not work yet in active x mode with windows 10 but I do not desesperate , it works with Chrome push mode.
access on internet with the MAC (ext?) address, port 8090 (declared in camera and gateway)
menus can have different names I have port forwarding and port triggering in 2 separate menus
I was even able to send mail on alarm using SMTP port 25 not secured, (no TLS) the camera being plugged on the gateway , no password to send mail, took me some time...
May be that would work with cameras plugged in wifi mode too

+Isaac OLEG thank you for saying that you had trouble with Edge and not IE, i had trouble setting up on Edge, but your comment made me switch my browser to IE, now i can use my FI9831P on IE

Since then I had once to reset totally the camera that did not access to the port anymore, using a steel needle in the hole intended for that, it corrected the problem. (I had to configure again port forwarding)

again No-Ip or external no working. The narrator said that 'video could only be seen using the external IP from outside your local network'. So I went to the library & was supprised to find I could see video using both my External IP & No-Ip accnt. You need to make it clear to your customers of this fact. I damn near sent the cam back to Foscam.
