    • @asifsaraiya
      @asifsaraiya  ปีที่แล้ว

      Under advanced settings you will need to enable 'remote management' so that the VM Hub can be accessed using the WAN or internet IP for administration use. By default this is disabled in the VM Hub.

    I have added a rule with my own ports, I go to check to see if the ports are open on my IP and they are not. What's the issue?

    • @asifsaraiya
      @asifsaraiya  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This could be due to two issues:
      1) Hit the 'apply' button and ensure the router reboots. Log-into the router after the reboot to ensure the rule you created still exists.
      2) Double check your public IP address you are using to check on the open ports. This might have changed.

      I do not know how XBoxX works. So, I cannot say how NAT'ing will work with it. But the concept is very generic. Either you set it up how I have show in the video or have a client software manage the NAT'ing via a web service (usually provided by the applications you would use)

      @asifsaraiya  ปีที่แล้ว

      The basic principle is the same, just use Port 23 in the forwarding settings. If port 23 is not allowed by VM Hub, then I would suggest use another port number and internal forward it to the telnet server using Port 23. Generally for security reasons, Port 23 is not a good port to make public on your VM Hub.

    Hi Asif I have Virgin Hub 3.0 and the major problem is disconnection from online gaming, chat, xbox live etc because two xboxes currently run on the network. I forwarded the first ip address, my problems began with when the second xbox was added. Could you help at all with a suggestion please?

    • @asifsaraiya
      @asifsaraiya  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Karl, Your problem description sounds to be clash between the two xboxes. You can work around this using a static ip address for both the xboxes on your 'internal' network. You will however need to use separate ports for both xboxes. This will solve the problem for you on your internal network.
      The external network is where you don't have any control over. I am not a gamer, but if you have the ability to configure port numbers on online gaming, chat, xbox live, etc you should be able to make it talk to the specific xbox on your internal network.
      You have to think about using one ip address with multiple port numbers for a one to one connection with online services. I hope this helps. Good luck with your setup.

    • @karlgoulding1288

    • @asifsaraiya
      @asifsaraiya  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is the v6 Tivo box your gateway to the internet? Generally virgin media always have a HUB labelled modem device to connect to the internet. Unfortunately, i do not have a tivo box to verify this myself. Also, I am intrigued, why would you want to open up a TV box to the internet?

    • @asifsaraiya
      @asifsaraiya  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      To obtain an ip address for the connected devices - you can check the device listings on HUB 3. If they (IP addresses) are proving difficult to marry up with devices, then disconnect all devices from the HUB and only power up the v6 box. that will show up as an active device and you can then capture its IP address.

    • @asifsaraiya
      @asifsaraiya  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You will need to trace route to establish where the packet loss is occurring. Trace route from your network to the end destination. Then ping every address on the output list of route, you will then find your problem node.

    Hi. I have the VM Superhub 3.0 and have never heard of port forwarding. My PS4 works absolutely fine.
    However, I may be in the near future getting CCTV. Can you explain what port forwarding is and why I should use it when everything as it stands is functioning correctly?

    • @asifsaraiya
      @asifsaraiya  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Port forwarding helps open-up your internal (home network) devices to an external network (internet). It maybe that your CCTV (to be) might have another clever way of opening itself to the internet (using a proprietary server) which is transparent to you as an end user. My suggestion is that if you don't need to, then don't fiddle with these settings.

    • @asifsaraiya
      @asifsaraiya  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If the Virgin HUB 3 allows those ports to be open, then you can definitely open them up. But your suggestion to use another router to open-up ports that virgin does not allow is also good. You already know how to do this (using virgin hub in modem only mode). Good luck with your setup. You should be able to open up Asus ports too. Just check the documentation that came along with it. Port forwarding, NAT, External Services, etc are synonymous to what we want to achieve.
