I'm on a Netgear WNDR3700 wireless router. I get a strict NAT setting on my Xbox 360 when I connect it to my router over wireless but not when I connect it directly with an Ethernet cable. I did everything in this video but I still get the same thing when i connect over wireless. I did have to turn UPnP off though because apparently it was already using the 3074 port. Any idea what may be going on? Do i need UPnP on?

Many of you are having minecraft difficulties, I don't personally play minecraft but I may have a solution to some of your issues. If it's saying the port 25565 isn't open, in my video you will see that I chose the 'ftp and udp' options together, I have heard that you have to open the same port TWICE using both of those by themselves. So it would be 'open port 25565 on ftp' and 'open port 25565 on udp'. I hope that clears some of that up, I'll try to figure minecraft out and bring you a video.
If you enabled your DMZ option, it will automatically have all ports open. This setting is IDEAL for gaming BUT it is ALSO THE LEAST SECURE!! If you aren't worried about getting viruses, people hacking your network, or people just feeding off of your internet then feel free to use it. Otherwise, I recommend turning the DMZ setting off and using the above listed ports, this is the most secure way for a gaming setup to run smoothly but also give minimal possible problems down the road.

I failed to help 2/3 or maybe 100% of you, but here it is. Disable your DMZ settings. Additionally, some routers have built in ports that they open up, you may need to check your advanced settings. Port forwarding tables in most cases are listed where the admin can find and adjust them. If this didn't help, please feel free to send me a direct message and I'll try to help you guys anyway I can! Again, I apologize for any inconvenience my lack of activity may have caused you.
I figured out my issue. My router gave an error when I attempted to add port forwarding. "The specified ports are being used by other configurations. etc..." Turns out it needed me to turn off UPnp, add whatever port fording rule I needed after which I turned UPnp back on without issue. But even if I want to modify an existing port forwarding rule it makes me turn off the Upnp first.

10.0.0.1 is usually the default router number. The numbers between 1 and 255 at the end are the connection numbers to the router, think of it like a house address.

I'm not familiar with genie, but your Static IP just means that it's an unchanging number that you specify for your console to connect to your router, in the case of this video; to remove the 'handshake stage' of connecting to specific servers (port forwarding).

Bolbi, this is a problem indeed. Sometimes it unlocks it by typing in the first number, sometimes you need to type each individual number, and sometimes you have to add symbols between the two numbers.

It's often times defaulted to username: admin password: admin but it fully depends on your brand. Check your manual, then call customer support if you still can't find it.

It depends on what game you're playing and who you're playing with, a lot of games match you up with people that have your party's average connection speed.

I'm trying to port forward with the Netgear D6300 Modem/router, however my netgear interface (For adding port forwarding / Port triggering) looks nothing like this, as I'm using Firmware Version V1.0.0.30_1.0.30. Is anyone aware of how to port forward using this firmware version?
+AshMoney14 Enable the DMZ (Demilitarized Zone) on your router and modem. I don't suggest it because it makes you more susceptible to malicious intent but that's one way of doing it.
Everyone has an external IP Address (the one the world see) I adjusted mine for my internal network and it allowed me to open and close ports effectively.
There are sometimes multiple default gateways, check your command bard (ipconfig /all) and try all existing ones. If that doesn't work then you may not be linked into the right router pathway or you may not have the authority to edit or view it.
Loved it! Trying to put them on for both ps3 AND 4 and not allowing the use of same ports for each static IP. Change the IP on ps3 to same as ps4? Not a techie lol:/
With wireless, you're not going to get nearly as strong of a connection regarldess. I would turn your UPnP (Universal Plug & Play) on as it discovers that your console is there. It's a port that detects other devices, you can find out more about UPnP on wikipedia. Honestly though, if you're playing on a wireless connection, it'd be difficult to get an open NAT type as it's only for the fastest connection (wired).
Thanks for trying to help, but this didn't clear out my problem for portforwarding. I am trying to port forward minecraft in port 25565. I unblocked my firewall ports to 25565. I have tried many things, like simple port forwarding.
Skip the firewall, hook your console up straight to the modem. It's unsafe and it's not worth your time, but hey; it'll next to guaranteed get you a NAT type 1 connection. Thank you for subscribing!

I've added all these and I still get NAT 3 on my ps4. I even gave my ps4 a static IP. I have it set up with a LAN cable and still nothing works.

I'm not really sure, the only external IPs would be from the server you were connecting to as you're transferring data back and forth.

Usually there's an edit button next to the listed port protocols, if not, enter into the port and erase the numbers entered.

There are sometimes multiple default gateways, check your command bard (ipconfig /all) and try all existing ones. If that doesn't work then you may not be linked into the right router pathway or you may not have the authority to edit or view it.
Loved it! Trying to put them on for both ps3 AND 4 and not allowing the use of same ports for each static IP. Change the IP on ps3 to same as ps4? Not a techie lol:/

With wireless, you're not going to get nearly as strong of a connection regarldess. I would turn your UPnP (Universal Plug & Play) on as it discovers that your console is there. It's a port that detects other devices, you can find out more about UPnP on wikipedia.
Honestly though, if you're playing on a wireless connection, it'd be difficult to get an open NAT type as it's only for the fastest connection (wired).
Thanks for trying to help, but this didn't clear out my problem for portforwarding. I am trying to port forward minecraft in port 25565. I unblocked my firewall ports to 25565. I have tried many things, like simple port forwarding.

Skip the firewall, hook your console up straight to the modem. It's unsafe and it's not worth your time, but hey; it'll next to guaranteed get you a NAT type 1 connection. Thank you for subscribing!
