Dale, thanks for putting the effort in. Brought this game on the back of the excellent digital game, of which I'm on my second run with a witch. That said with the card game, I need playthroughs like this, to coincide with the rule book. I find it clarifies certain aspects I wasn't understanding. Thanks again.
I don't think I can (or even want to) ever play D&D but, for some reason, Pathfinders seems far more accessible and interesting to me although I understand it to be in the D&D wheelhouse. I think it's the cards and the game setup. It's more tangible than how I've seen D&D played with a bunch of people sitting around talking. You demonstrated how this game has a very specific structure with options for how long the game is going to last. Thank you for this.😁
Very well done and helpful video. I never took the dive on the original version but this new edition looked more manageable and streamlined so I grabbed a copy of this core set. Hoping the learning curve isn't too intense because it looks like great fun to play solo or with one other person.

Oh, it's still hard to choose who to choose for the missions. With only two characters, I try to makes sure they compliment each other with their stats. And if you're still getting play time with 1st edition, this one can wait ... for a little. ;)
One thing I noticed during your video when you encounter the goblin with scioni when you were rolling the d6 you rolled a 1 but there was a rule on the top blessing that says during the encounter the top blessings said if you roll a 1 during that turn you could reroll the dice

I played this on my channel awhile back... maybe first 3 missions and got stuck on the 3rd impossible mission with the boss locked down into a location and we couldn't close it so I got mad and frustrated and stopped playing... its been awhile and I have calmed down and thought about trying it again... I have a ton of stuff for the game (got the next game plus one of the big box expansions and a bunch of the small ones... I want to like this game because I have a ton of cards, a ton of different scenarios and a ton of things to do with it but every time I go to play the game it turns out after a few missions into an unbeatable scenario... what did you like or not like about it... ? I watched this series before when I was playing (and yeah it was you that inspired me to give it a go and order the new set..) and a bunch of the expansions... Help me understand what I am missing... why are my games always turning it a slog where the characters get into a situation where they can't close locations because the banes are too high or we don't have the right ability/skill to close them... I think I was playing with 3 characters... if I had to play with 4 that just means so much more to keep track of but I guess I could do it... you played with 2 and it seamed to play alright... I think I recorded the video where I got stuck and could send you a time stamp if that would help.. thanks for any help Dale.. Oh BTW... I like the intro of this series where you get to see you... you should think of doing that more with your other series...
I really enjoyed this initially, then it got too samey, but with around 30 plays, I think that's worth it. You really need to pick characters that are strong in each stat, so some combinations do leave the party weak, and depending on the random location stacks can kill the party depending on tests. And with limited space, and me not liking setting the camera and lighting up twice ... I skip my pretty (or scarey) face for an intro. ;)

Hey man when you defeated the henchman @ 18:45 and you moved immediately after closing the location, is that a new rule? I thought you could only move at the beginning of your next turn?
At the 15min min mark when you finished the turn of your first character, you said there was no recovery to do but i think thats incorrect as the location had the effect you can heal 1 at end of turn
Newbie question: Can you discard more than one ally per turn to explore? Or does the general “one boon per turn” apply when discarding? I was confused with the porcupine part.
Quick question, at the campsite location, were you supposed to heal the barbarian at the end of her turn? I thought you could? I’m trying to learn the rules but maybe I missed something
I rolled a lot of 1's ... typically re-rolling 1's from hour blessings are only allowed on certain types of checks, or on checks that have been blessed ... and if the player (me) remembers. ;)

Total noob here. I like the characters, skills, and being able to level up. I’m early in to the video , so this one has no board? Just cards, like you dont move your figures into a map of some sort?

Yes, they can assist on checks. I'll refer to page 8 of the rule book under "Encountering a Card" in the second paragraph. About half way in it explains that each character may play any number of cards, but collectively, the party may play no more than one of each type of boon. In addition powers can be used "freely" along with cards that states they can be played "freely" (so they don't count against that type of boon). Hope that helps, and good luck in your adventure.

Thanks. I'm done recording the playthroughs for this series (just need to render and post a couple more), but will work on explaining powers on cards better in future vids. Basically, for each character, they have a reference to a die for possible checks ... so while one character might get to roll a d10 for combat, another character might only get a d4. So it's following their stat block to see their die and if they get an additional modifier depending on the check type, then boosting with cards. Hope that helps for now! :)

There is a solo vlogger out there that shows the actual stat on cards with a crochet needle. Texts like hero has no idea what survival is was btw highly appreciated ;-)

@kidrobot I'd say that Pathfinder the Adventure Card is an easy game to get into. If you like the fantasy theme and thing you would enjoy a story driven card game with a lot of dice rolling for tests ... this might be a game for you.

In the vault and in locations, yes. You can keep level 1boons at this time too. I believe I eventually keep a level 2, which you can use for the adventures out find it in a location , but you can’t keep it for the next adventure. Hope that helps.

When you build the location, you only place cards with value 0 and 1 or also higher values in this scenario?
You started at the campsite but I’m pretty sure the scenario says start at the caravan. Don’t think it mattered though.
On your first turn with Amiri I think you also may have missed the end of turn effect at the campsite that lets you heal a card

Yep, new rule. Banish cards, apply effects "on closing", put location back in the vault, and all characters at that location immediately move.

Unless I missed something, which is possible, the playing of one boon per type only applies to checks (p.12). Hope that helps. :)

Anytime a card is defeated or you lose a check to acquire is that card completely removed from adventure/game?

Some cards will direct you to encounter the "danger" ... and I didn't find or trigger those cards. Believe me, they get triggered in other videos. ;)

I’m still a bit confused. Where does “Rescue” come in?
Some cards may have you resolve the "Rescue" and then you will follow thru with that card. Hope that helps, and good luck!!
