I have the positive version of this watch and it is a truly awesome g shock. I work in construction and wear it for work so it takes a daily beating and I've had no issues with the screws or anything else. When I get home I wear it in the shower so it gets cleaned and it it's good to go once again!
Good video. Two things to add FYI. The screws on top seem to be decoration. Looking at replacement screws, they seem to have just a clip -in protrusion that snaps into a hole, One review I saw referring to losing them stated that they just Super Glued them in. Seems like Casio would have addressed this problem by now. A simple change to the screw design would be inexpensive and worthy. As to the purpose of the wings, they are supposed to secure the watch on the wrist and keep it from spinning around if oil, water or some other slippery substance gets on the wrist. It will also fill in the gap around the wrist if the watch is a little too large, Great addition to a Working Man's watch, The negative is that it does cause the wrist to sweat a little more. This is probably why some people remove it.
Definitely going to have to think about getting this one. It fits my needs and it's really awesome. The G-Shock I have now (my first) is the G-Lide Winter Edition. Olive color with nylon strap. I use it for everyday use and hiking. Only downside is the nylon is getting messed up.

EXCEPT... the battery acts real funny... unless you're in the sun ALLLL the time, it will stay on M and not H..its not a big deal but when you have 3/4 days of rain and you work in the office.. it will def hit you with the low battery bullshit. this sucks b/c if its night time you can't light up the phone. Other than that its glued to me
If you don't want to loose the screws, take them out, put some hot glue, or another type of glue, on them slightly, then screw it back in immediately. That way they won't fall out :)

The difference between the two types of screws tells you at first sight if it's an atomic version or not. Plastic screws aren't metal screw models are!
I have beat the living hell out of mine doing landscaping. Everything works fine but one of the decorative screws is gone and it has a ton of rock chips one the crystal.

The standard model g7900 is so much better except without solar power, display actually bigger clearer, moon and tide display much better, and special count down alert /flash
can you swap the M / D to D / M ? its not mentioned in the manual but i have a casio watch already and it also isnt mentioned in the manual but you can swap them around
The 5610 has the classic look and is the smallest, it also doesn't have the 5th button for the light. So the light button is on the top right moving the chronograph reset/ split to the top left. I personally don't like that. I really like the way the 6900 feels on my wrist. And if moon phase or tide didn't interest me I would wear it for sure. The gw7900 has a good tide graph and moon phase on the face. He didn't go into detail about it but it not only shows low-high tide but even shows neap, intermediate, or spring tide.
are the 4 metal screws on your G-shock GW7900b-1 3200, all loose? Coz' mine are loose but so far they haven't fall off yet.. Can we tighten these 4 metalic screws?
I don't find it difficult at all really. Although, I have heard some people say certain negative displays can be difficult for certain people. Also, you can always have the auto-light feature set, so that you would definitely see the time.
MercifulFate the one with the black screws is a different model which has plastic screws doesn't have the tough solar, radio time update and if you look the second timer on the right hand side of the display is a sort of triangle shape where as this one is round. I think that's all the differences but I'm not 100% sure, if you really want the black screws on it I guess you can paint them?
MercifulFate www.gshock.com/watches/Classic/G7900-1 is the lower model (g7900) with the black plastic screw bits and www.gshock.com/watches/Classic/GW7900B-1 is the GW7900 (you can get it without the black background on the LCD although it doesnt seem to be listed on the Gshock website atm) that has the extra features I mentioned above, also this one due to its tough solar has the ability to turn the auto light on and off automatically like in the video and the g7900 either doesn't have it or is on all the time cant remember which and no problem happy to help out
Hi Mikey, atomic means, that the watch automatically adjusts itself to the correct time. Only atomic watches can do this, and you have to have them set up correctly to do this. If you're in the USA, casio has a tower in Colorado that the atomic watches connect with (usually between midnight and 4:00am) Really useful functions.
Why? Looks like the one here - www.casio.com/products/watches/g-shock/gw7900b-1 Casio has even stated the only way to determine authenticity, is for it to be sent into them for inspection. If you can tell from a video - maybe you should get a job with Casio.

This is the best G shock I have ever owned! The moon and tide features are very useful for where I live on the southwest coast of England.
I just bought one and set the tide to Bournemouth

Get some Loctight thread sealant, put just a touch on the threads, secure, good to go.

found one one the street while cycling.Though it was fake and broken but it turns out it was just not charged and missing the speaker spring.

comfort wise, this watch. The gwx8900b-7's screen is easier to see. And I like the overall look of the screen better on the gwx8900b-7.

It's a non-replaceable internal battery.
Sorry but the batery is very much replacable, just see to buy the right one, by that i mean the solar charging one..
It uses the CTL1616 rechargeable battery which is replaceable. They're about $20, and last 10 or more years

That's how it's made. The screws are all show, they have no threads. They are plugs.
Please help. I'm having trouble keeping time since daylight saving time. I changed the time manually but it updates every night to a different time.

How do you switch this to military time
