I just received mine, 3 days ago (2nd August 2019). Since then I learned what joy is. I read the manual 2 times, I learned all the functions and from now on this watch will be with me forever. I am an iced water diver (WHM practitioner) and I already dived with this baby 3 times, 1 meter deep in frozen water. The timer works perfectly underwater and it rings! The radio signal adjusts the time and the BACKLIGHT is probably one of the best among the GShocks. Please do yourself a favour and DON'T waste your time, money, nerves and battery on the negative display one (7900b). Regards for the review!
I have some problem to decide if to buy it or no. Actually now I’m wearing the gwm5610 and I don’t know if worth it or no .. how tough is .. is true the problems with the screws?
Thanks for posting the review video for the GW-7900. I have been wearing my brand new GW-7900 on my skinny 6.3" (16cm) wrist for a few days now and have finally figured out how to keep the tail-end of the band from sticking out. A keeper from one of the 22mm rubber diver straps I have laying around was called into action! The 22mm wide rubber keeper was flexible enough that I could slide it up the wider part of the casio strap so that the tail-end of the strap could be kept securely throughout the day. So far it has worked flawlessly for me...
Just bought this bad boy! It fits like a glove and looks great! Reading the manual briefly and watching your review, has got me acquainted with all the practical functions on it, thanks!
I have used Casio G-Shock watches for scuba diving and everyday wear, ever since 1974. On purpose, while deep diving around 120 feet down in the ocean, I pushed every button several times to see if the watch would malfunction or end up leaking. Out of the three different Casio watches that I have used for scuba diving, I have never had a problem or malfunction. The G-Shock series of Casio watches are practically indestructible and super reliable and durable. Great watch and product Casio. I especially like the price range of Casios, compared to other high dollar diving watches.
perfect review on perfect G Shock ‘m on my second one now already , putting it thru the paces working in the oilfield absolute immaculate build quality and pretty much indestructible including severe dust saltwater and crude oil and byproducts and dawn cleans it up perfectly and super comfortable to wear , 6 nights a week , even after years and didn’t even know lots of the function til watching your video thanks again for all your super detailed info 👍👍
had this watch for about 4 years now. Absolutely love the thing; the only thing that causes me to sometimes pick a different watch out of my collection is the ability to read the time while on the stopwatch mode- otherwise would have made the perfect workout watch for myself. I rely a lot on the gw b5600 and the rangeman for such circumstances.
Ive owned many g shocks and the functions on this particular model are brilliant. All the regular features incl solar power , power save , multiband ,tide and moon graph.
Just got mine today, it's a great watch with excellent features. I had the negative display for a day but found the display unreadable so swapped for this version which is so much better.
Had this watch for four years now never let me down. One of the decorative face plate screws somehow came off as they unscrew out, bought 1 new replacement off Casio for maybe £2.50 to £5.
After watching this GW7900 review video and the unboxing video, I have decided to try one on at one of the local department stores. Actually, it was a red G7900 that I was offered to try on as they did not carry the GW version. I was pleasantly surprised at how why the watch sits on my skinny 6.25" (just under 16 cm) wrist. The two "wings" underneath the band really helped to keep the watch from moving around on the wrist. Moreover, it is also not a heavy watch. So, once you have strap it on your wrist, you would hardly notice that you are wearing a large watch. My new GW7900 with the positive display arrived yesterday from Amazon. It synchronized with the atomic clock radio signals from Fort Collins in Colorado (2200 km away) last night at mid-night. So, the GW7900 is now good to go. Many thanks for putting together these two videos. Please keep them coming .....
Actually, the GW9110-1 has all the functions of the GW7900, but comes in slightly smaller dimensions. However, it is about $200 USD which is almost twice as expensive as the GW7900!
Hi mate great TH-cam video on the GW 7900 g shock I've had my eye on this watch for about two months now and I'm still very interested in buying this watch and I think I will order and buy this watch from Amazon UK England plus I like what the watch can do never loses time and it more or less thinks for itself which I think it's good I own a g shock GD 100ms er in military olive green colour I've had the same g shock watch for years and years now and it's still on the same battery from about 8/9 years ago and it also has not losted any time as when I watch the news on the TV it is the exact time and seconds it has not lost a beat. For a GD 100ms er in military olive green colour. But I will be buying the g shock GW 7900 which you have done a great review on. Thank you for going through all the functions I will keep your TH-cam video on this watch just incase I get stuck with any of the functions. Thank you from mark from the UK England
Mate please do not cut the strap I have the same problem with one of my Gshock the Rangeman but I guess it is okay...your watch looks awesome on your wrists in my opinion...but I cannot seem to get over the awesomeness of the GW5610 for some reason....nice review...I keep waiting for your videos ...Cheers!!!
There's actually a way to cut the strap it cleanly, without having an odd-looking strap end. That involves some filing :) I'll see, now with cold weather, it might go into hibernation for some time... Thanks for the support, cheers!
Im planning on getting this model tomorrow its a great watch i did have one question tho the watch if from 2010 so does that mean they was all made that year or do they still manufacture this watch?
Best G-Shock Review ever! I even measured out my wrist size right after watching the video, thought that my wrist is pretty small...well, it isn´t compared to yours^^.
*_The distinct Home Screen beeps is another reason Casio (not just G-Shocks) are my favorite timepieces. I can leave a particular Mode & revert back to Home simply by pressing Mode & tarry for the high pitch beep that makes me abreast that I’m now back to Home._* *_Stellar review my man._*
I bought my WG7900-1 from an individual on EBay. It was missing 4 bezel screws (really threadless plugs), I ordered 4 bezel plugs from Casios pacparts for $2.50 each not incl shipping costs. I dipped the plugs in Super Glue before remounting. Evidently the 7900 has a habit of the plugs falling out. I have an idea these 4 plugs wont fall out.
I've had this watch for a couple of years now, but with the negative display. I like it a lot, but kinda hard to read in certain light conditions. I just wish the atomic band radio signal was a bit stronger in Sweden so the syncing works better.
I owned this watch for about 2 or 3 years and wore it but forgot the default factory set timer. usually its 10 mins? but it might have been 24 hours on this watch.
I just got one of mine. But i found it is little difficult to read the time because the bezel is too high.(compared with GW-M5610 Since the bezel is much higher than the LCD screen,so you have to roll your wrist more to read on almost a 90 degree position. Besides, the gap between the screen and the glass looks wider than GW-M5610,which makes it harder to read the time. Wondering it’s my own problem or someone has same experience lol
Towards the right side of the face, the silver hexagon with the segments going round, what it is that? Looking to buy the watch but just unsure what that bit is.
Can you do a review on the g shock Gulfman G9100 46mm and compare it to the GW 7900 rescue and the GW 6900 for slender wrist. All these watches look simmilar but they are all different sizes.
Hi Alessandro! Great video! I have a GW-5610-1ER for over a year now and I like the "retro / square" style and subtle appearance very much. I also like automatic watches like Seiko 5 Sport (SKX) and Orient Ray. The GW-7900 looks also very interesting. My wrist is just a bit bigger than yours, but i think the watch is worth a try! Thanks for your review! You have a new subscriber! :)
Does anyone know of a way to use seconds on the countdown timer? I have that option on my current g shock and I bought this one to replace it, but I need to have a timer that can be set down to the second, I use this feature dozens of times daily.
You can't. The G(W)-7900 series only allows minutes and hours. If you don't need atomic/solar get a Timex digital. Much easier to configure/set, much better backlight, cheaper too.
Hi. anyone who has this watch have the problem with the bezel "screws" falling out? i read that some people have that problem, dont know if it is a problem only older models have. thank you
- Yes, you are not the only. You can buy them in internet. Some people remove the bezel and apply glue from inside. - Sí, se suelen caer porque están a presión, son estéticos. Puedes comprar repuestos por internet. Para que no se caigan hay gente que quita el bisel y les pone pegamento por dentro.
I have a problem, see if an expert can help me. I have my GW-7900 several years ago and it was working perfectly but one day the screen got stuck. Its obviously too big for you. Despite the fact its looks funny, watches this big are just impractical and get in the way if you actually do something in the workshop so its not a real "tool" watch. Also its getting colder day by day now and such watches don't like long sleeve, jackets or gloves. In the end it is just an eye catcher.
Use cases and tastes differ, so I understand why it might not work for you. Cheers [EDIT] By the way I totally agree - this watch is *not* for cold weather. Super uncomfortable to wear under any kind of jacket. Way too thick and bulky. This is where my GW-M5610 shines!
nice! I bought it some weeks ago, but didnt still get to unbox it as I am not in my country untill next week. I find it very interesting how you enjoy gshocks and automatics at the same time. Enjoying the channel a lot
Thanks man :) And yes, many of us watch enthusiasts like both end of the spectrum. G-Shocks are part the horological history too, so... what's not to like? Cheers
I just don't get the whole G-Shock thing! They are tough and rugged because there are no moving parts. It's not really a watch but basically a circuit board with a battery in a massive rubber case. They are really ugly and primitive too. I've noticed that Americans seem to love them for some strange reason.
I used to think so too. Do a little more research and you might find there is build quality, technology, and practical advantage to these watches. I've had $2000 mech. watch failure that will cost $750 to fix. Also $250 fashion quartz dial watches as gifts, that are cool looking garbage.
cheap, almost indestructible, water resistant, not affected by magnetic fields, cool looking (matter of taste of course). a LOT of functions. for me the alarms, the hour signal and the backlight have been life changing. if they are multi band 5/6 they are precise down the second every day without doing anything. oh and the tough solar ones are basically eternal as long as you don't put them in the dark for months. ugly and primitive? take a look at the rangeman... they managed to put into it a compass, barometer, altimeter, thermometer, bluetooth and even a GPS!
Why are you showing a different watch your live feed is about the Casio watch that's what we want to see we don't care about the Seiko do you people just do it you think you're showing off or something I mean anybody can buy that watch they're so damn cheap it's unbelievable so please get back to the Casio watch

Hey Alessandro, is it possible to have 24 hour for the world time, and 12 hour for home time? It would be cool as a GMT function for pilots.
Hey Cole, I just checked: it is not possible. When you switch to the 12 hour format, the WT is displayed in 12 hours as well.

A G-Shock for small wrist? Really?? This watch is enormus! :-)
It wears smaller than it looks, most G's do...

Another Tip for dealing with small wrists:
Get bigger wrists
What is the what the hell factor?
I actually own that model and it reminds me of the Seiko watch from metal gear 5
The dw6900 looks to be smaller
It is smaller, not much though.
Why is called “rescue “ ?
pretty sure it's marketed towards coast guards/lifeguards
