That crab stretcher is awesome...as long as your tac strip is solid. Dont be cheap on tac strip..some of it's junk. Order it ahead time, bid job and once accepted get 1/2 labor and ALL material cost up front..definitely on large jobs. Sadly vids like this do run value down on trade yet enriches folks who are starting up. Great vid to the point.
Great Video!!! A 500 square room, kicking, do I have to worry about kicking evenly? Temperature variations resulting in puckering, looseness? Should I utilize a power kicker? Thank you!
Professional flooring installer here...you cannot free cut your edge like that or you will see the seam... It has to be straight... You can use a knee kicker, but it'll be all wrinkled up within a year ...
Professional carpet installer here, seam your right but my carpet in my house that I knee kicked 5 years ago says your wrong. General Floor installers always have that assumption but full time carpet guys will tell you otherwise
I can’t believe he dropped his seam without a straight edge lol always easier with a straight edge you actually should row run everything. And you should power stretch everything but knee stretchers work fine for rooms about 12 feet long or so
@@mperales121 I definitely think knifes are faster but I double kick when I use cutters but that seam. There's no tractor no weight and no duck bills being used on it 😳 I'd be shocked if that was a good seam
This video was two quick, and didn't quite explain the process to a person who would be watching this. This is more for people that have installed carpet before but it was a long time ago and they need a quick refresher. If you're looking to learn about how to get your DYI project done, I'm not sure this is the best video.
I dont know if you hooked into merchanise links for commision but yeah any tools you use definitatly good for you to get that hooked up in your video descriptions. Love your channel ;)
Hi looking for expert advice. do you think it would be bad to install a nice RUG just like carpet ? like is there a difference between rugs and carpet?
Goods 1s yes..Any installer that was trained even remotely decent were taught a few things immediately..Clean work only shoes with white soles and The biggest things is when you cut yourself, which is going to happen if you do this for a living is get the "F" off the new carpet, then worry about the bleeding , which means unless you actually cut a finger off, grab the duct tape, pressure tape it and get back to work.
Lol. You’re freaking awesome!! I wished more people made videos like you. Fast and easy informative kind of video for me😂😂😂 Do you have a video on “How to build your own backyard putting green”?? I would love to watch it in 3 mins instead of 30 mins.😁
That's easily doable and then some if the store is busy enough and it's not a cheap shit store selling all stock carpet..2 guys can install 90 -125yds daily depending on a bunch of variables.. is their take up, furniture, does tackstrip need to be put down..going rate for good installers were I'm at is $5.50-.$8yd just to install..90yds @5.5 is almost 500 daily 2500 in 5 days installer is making 1500 helper 1000..Now add take up ..another 90×$1.50 $135 per day. Plus haul away another$150 on the week..installers can easily make 1500 at decent stores
I have 16 years installing carpet. And first time that I see a guy do the seams without back cutter or a straight metal .. think about how will look the seams when the costumer clean with the vaccum
If I were this home owner. I would take this video to a sales representative. This was not installed to CFI standards. The installer would and should be responsible for all new carpet.
So what about the the direction of the carpet? You need to tell people about how you direct the carpet a certain way for wear patterns. One of the most important things you left out!
120 yds in 2 days for a diy, how about planning on at least a week than after that your going to have to call a pro to come and fix it so you wont trip over the seams you made btw always use a power stretcher
@@snowrider5150 actually I do 23 years in the floor covering trade. I do things the right way and you cannot stretch carpet with a kicker. It merely jars the rug I’ve worked with many carpet installers over the years that made the claim I can stretch with a kicker. Let them kick it in then come back with a stretcher and cut off an inch and a half of rug at the wall where they just kicked it. Kickers are for moving seams, setting walls, installing stairs they have they’re use but they are not for stretching plain and simple
@@Apexjasonmorganllc ur wrong lol. u can use a kicker to stretch. of course you’re gonna have extra carpet to cut off if you go back and use a stretcher. how are you gonna compare the power of a stretcher to someone kicking? Lol
What if you got fat fingers🙈won’t the spacing too much for the carpet strip tacking ? Trim and tuck if only I could do that around my waist too happy days 🙂 good job bud. Separate topic there is shortfall of fitters in the U.K. nobody wants to do hard graft no more.
$2400 a month? Haha. I make that driving a truck and home every night working only 4 days a week. But that's besides the point, how long does it take to like say a 12x12 living room?
Watched the whole video, thinking any second now the step by step will kick in
This is a great video to watch if you already know how to install carpet.
Seriously 😂
😂😂😂
Best and accurate statement 👊🏽😔 No teachings here 🤷🏾♀️
I have no idea how to install a carpet but this was super helpful! I’m good at visual so I get the idea
I have installed carpet for over forty years & if you want the carpet installed right without wrinkles in 6 months you need a carpet stretcher
He mentions using a carpet stretcher

I installed carpet for 35 years and YES, you need a power stretcher. The sarcastic tone of voice at 3:25 ticked me right off.

Positive vibes only , appreciate the 411 .Keep on Grinding baby! Peace love and carpet kicking ❤
Really went off on a tangent there.
Thanks for the video, I now know how to install a carpet in 4 seconds!
Watched few of your vids now.
New piece of info in all of them.
Thanks

Great video. Had to slow it down half speed because i havent had my coffee yet.
what it the model of knife you use? there are cheap knives out there but what one do you use as it looks a very good one?
Orcon brand is what I use
What was the type of carpet you used?
Recruitment or diy tips??
Hi
looking for expert advice. do you think it would be bad to install a nice RUG just like carpet ? like is there a difference between rugs and carpet?
Carpet has a backing made of many different materials. Rugs ,, not so much. Ripping the rug is a probability. You can even rip carpet. Good luck!
What are your using at the door edges? What do you mean by staple
Do installers make sure their shoes are clean before they walk on the new carpet theyre installing?
No lol

What was the black cord towards the end? Do you have a list of tools needed
You left out so much information to the proper procedure of a carpet installation; rendering this video totally void of any helpful advice.
Appreciate the video
How you gonna wash the carpet if something gets spill on it
Thanks!
I can appreciate the underlying message here….. but this video didn’t teach me shit about installing carpet lol
120 yds in 2 days for a diy, how about planning on at least a week than after that your going to have to call a pro to come and fix it so you wont trip over the seams you made btw always use a power stretcher
Can you really make that much a month ??
Need answers quick...they said they'll be back tomorrow at 8am. Carpet installed today feels lumpy in spots....why?
Probably a weak spot in the pad or they left something under the pad or carpet
Call your installer they should fix that for free
Pad could've rolled in center from neither being glued or stapled properly
The installers probably watched this video prior to your installation.
That's why.
Wood subfloor most cases? Not around here😂
You're supposed to shim up to transitions if they are higher
You will never get carpet tight with a kicker.
That depends on the size of the room. You obviously don't know what you're doing.

Of course you can tight stretch the carpet properly with the kicker.
4:48,actually kicking the carpet unlike some videos they're giving it little love taps, and you're like NO.

looks like some old time methods try out a trimmer
doing it all wrong where's your power stretcher?
You could do it with a kicker but a stretcher is way easier

Great
You're supposed to duct tape your padding seams
That's really not necessary but you aren't supposed to staple pads seams horizontal to the seam like he did..that make the seam curl up
