I just threw a $70 copycat Weber 38/38 on my 1967 B20 Amazon. Holy smokes! Best 70 bucks I ever spent. I was going to spend $50 on the sync link, but this was a far better buy.
This is funny to watch for me only because my step dad had a 1966 of this model, and it was automatic. Also had dual SU carbs. Neat to see one of these again!
I put a weber 38 on my chevy luv and man does it go the air correctors had to go they where 170 i bumped then to 190 and i get seriously good mpg yes SERIOUS MPG out of a 38 im probably at 15 on the afr cursing at 65 they are good carbs way easy to tune and reliable
Great video. I have a Nissan 720 pickup with a Weber 38 Outlaw DGAS or DGES. All the things you describe is everything I've experienced as well. Better drivability, better cruising, truck just wants to go - not like a muscle car, but like a gocart. And it does get poorer fuel economy because of either the synchronized throttle opening letting more fuel in, or simply my foot-to-smile reaction every time I go from a stoplight. I came here to see this because I too have noticed it bogs a little in the low-midrange, likely too much fuel being dumped in too soon. Was wondering if you did jet down and to what size. And we are talking main jets here right, not idle jets?
I got a 38/38 carb I'm trying to get carb spacer and gasket at auto store could u help me any they look up year make and model but idk what one was off of
I just got one of these 38s to go on my 2 litre pinto in my cortina. It has a factory 32/36 on it. I cant get it to run with the 38. It will start but then will die like its get to much gas or not enuff. The 32/36 has a fuel return line and the 38 doesnt. Im wondering if thats the issue? As still running engine fuel pump. Im not carb king so im a lil lost. You can tell the difference when ya rev it while it runs. But ive yaken 38 off and its just sitting there now
Keep up these videos, they're great! Do you happen to know anything about the older Amazon "wing" trunk handle availability? I found a dude in Mexico that has one for $200 bucks. Is that fair in your opinion? I've looked around in the U.S. and they're kinda hard to come by. Any tips or info would be appreciated.
I think the 38/38 works bedst on engines more than 2 litre, for what more you get out of it compare to the fuel consumption, its not worth it. If you tune the rest of the components, cam, pistons, etc. its surely pays of with a 38/38, ohtervise the 4 stroke 1,6/2,0 engine runs more smooth with a 32/36
I recently bought a Webber 32/36 single carb conversion for my Volvo 122 off of Craigslist. Do I have to buy a fuel regulator and if so what pressure should I have it on?
Jacob Blas remove the top cover of the carb body, and they're screwed in at the bottom of the bowls. should be easy to find detailed instructions online
Are you running a mechanical fuel pump? I have done much reading and it seems that the 38/38 is best with a electric fuel pump such as the Carter 4070 4psi without a pressure regulator. That might solve your stumbling problems. I am still working on installing my new B20. Thanks for the videos.
I did put an electrical pump by this point. it's regulated at 3.5 psi, like the 32/36. I'm dealing with accelerator pump issues now and in 3 days when I pick it up from the shop, I'll know what the issue was
If you upgrade the needle valve to the newest version with the Vinton tip you can run the carb with the mechanical fuel pump without a regulator. The Vinton tip is designed for higher pressures than the standard Weber needle valve.
I'm still in the process of tuning my 38 on my 1.6 liter Toyota and decided to do more upgrades. Went to the Vinton needle valve and a brass float. Also a side note: Pierce Manifolds sells an air horn for the 38 that fits under the standard filter. (I went with the 70mm Ramair foam filter to maximize the potential of the airhorn)

I installed 38 dges and i never had to had to tune any of the idle mixtures. Run legit and sounds excellent
Just popped a 38 DGES on my 1.5L CRX. boy howdy did it make a difference!

obxjeepguy I regret the Weber, but will never regret the car!

Where does the wire for the electric choke go? I have a 67 Volvo 122 still running the old generator. Thanks.
Does the 38/38 bolt directly onto the 32/36 manifold with no mods
still no answer to this question thanks
yeah its the same fit from what i've seen :)
whats the best setup for good mpg? cool videos by the way

After you got the DGES jetted, how'd it go? Better economy?
I should've paid the extra $50 and got the 38/38 😕
If it was just 5o extra then you should have
sell your 32/36 and buy 38/38

I'm no expert byt have you checked any swedish sites? Like vparts.se or cvi-automotive.se ...or maybe motoroldies.se
+Doctor Rohrer I'd love to find one too. Is it the early style that looks like an airplane or is there just one style for all the wagons?
I just synchronized my 32/36. drives more better👍🏼 volvo 242 B19.

Which carburateor do you reccomend me for my lancer 4wd 1.8l 4g37 engine?
I recently bought a Webber 32/36 single carb conversion for my Volvo 122 off of Craigslist. Do I have to buy a fuel regulator and if so what pressure should I have it on?
Not really but make sure its tuned well. Or just get the 38dges which is la bomba
Weber / redline say more than 3psi can cause too much pressure for the float.
Do you have the 1.8l or the 2.0 l engine?
This was the 1.8 liter bored out .030 or .040 over
did u do a how to change out jets?

Dude has an afr guage and is guessing when it comes to tuning🤦♂️

Thanks, that's good to know. The Mr gasket fpr really helped

mechanical pump does just fine - you need 3 psi for webers
