Even if you don't open the combo, you can still do the standard steel board control
makes me wonder if these lorcana card designers were aware of this infinite combo because it seems a bit broken lol, same with jafar Whole new world. beast isn’t that easy to remove without specific hard removal. fun when u can pull this combo off tho
Like I've told everyone else, this combo is dependent on your OPPONENT having 20 Willpower worth of characters on board. It requires that your Sheriff, Beast, and Bayou are on the field at the same time. Sure, that can happen. I got hit by it the other day. The reason it happened though, is because I had completely forgotten about the Bayou. Beast and Sheriff were on the board, and I expected a couple of Simba and/or little Cindy to be played and ping me for some damage and allow my opponent to score like 6 lore. He instead dropped the Bayou, again, a card that I completely forgot existed. So I was caught by surprise. The really funny part, to me at least, is that I didn't Yzma his Beast because I didn't want him drawing two cards and he wasn't going to beat me yet. Again, for the third time, I just didn't remember that the Bayou existed. This combo is stopped by Ward. It's stopped by Cosgrove. It's stopped by any Resist +1. It's stopped by your opponent playing around it like they would a Be Prepared. This interaction has been getting more hype than the Jafar/AWNW one lol. 😂

@@316AJH that is NOT correct at all. Go read a card with Resist and look at the part where the damage is REDUCED. Pinging for 1 damage, then having it be resisted, literally means that NO damage was done. Beast can only ready when damage is done. The Resist negates the damage being dealt.
I think this will be a good deck for the next couple of weeks, but eventually people are gonna figure out how to consistently stop the combo. still going to be fun in the meantime
I think you can be aware and prepared but no real counter for the combo once someone gets to six ink not many single character removal in different ink colors and if beast survives a turn pretty easy combo to pull off. Like the game came up with counters for be prepared in this set in emerald and amber but no new single character removal in any color. This combo better than Jafar and easy to hit plus if you don’t win you still get to clear your opponents board.
@@jamalgurley3474 you literally just pointed out this deck's biggest weakness: your opponent MUST have characters on board. Those characters must also have at least a combined Willpower of 9. This doesn't work against a hyper aggro deck; assuming that you haven't lost already focusing on just the combo. It doesn't work against decks that only play a small handful of characters to the board. It gets stopped entirely in its tracks by Ward and/or Resist. This combo is good, but it is by no means unbeatable. It will not be the dominant meta deck, as it's simply too easy to disrupt and/or play around.
@@Xoulrath_ I wasn’t trying to argue for this deck tier 1 just saying you can’t consistently stop the combo but you’re definitely right aggro trying to win by turn 5 they won’t get a chance to even let this be able to happen. I just know with tournaments playing purple/red 95% of the time this could be something to sneak its way in there and no real answer cards. I’d also make a change to this deck list not playing the two drop ursala that looks in the hand and discards a song is wild that card fire
you just need one turn with no removals or a slight misconception and youre dead on the spot… just dont answer beast 1 turn and thats game…i think ruby amethyst will turn out strong again but this time as a sort of hypercontrol deck, maybe even ruby steel.

It’s just that now on the off chance they can’t answer him, he can win the game sometimes. Also Bear necessities just wrecks him, discard the bayou and the deck falls apart

I would’t say “shut down” it just means those characters don’t add to the lore count. Ward is the same. Even then, if they have 5 total willpower elsewhere that’s still 10 lore.

This is NOT OTK. The amount of lore you gain is dependant on how much willpower the opponent has on the board, it is NOT infinite. Getting 20 lore on one turn is incredibly rare and niche. Granted, this is a nice combo and can be really powerful, I just wish people would stop calling it infinite and OTK... it is not at all.

That’s not even mentioning how clogged the board gets with Merlins and Minnies, or how most people want at least 3 Willpower on most characters to avoid getting clapped by Grab Your Swords. I've mentioned this multiple times in multiple places now, so I'll be brief here. First, if you don't have enough Willpower worth of characters for your opponent to win, it fails. Second, as soon as the majority knows about this combo, Beast gets removed. Third, people continue to forget about Bare Necessities and the song stealing Ursula. So they wrongly assume that they have access to AWNW for card draw like they have until now.

Yeah, it is way too easy to stop from way too many different angles.

This new format is so degenerate. Jafar, beast and the big talla are going to be the pillars of the format. They just do truly broken things.
I knew beast was a broken card before this ever happened. Which is why I picked up my playset at $8 a piece. 😊
