I'm sorry to hear the knee is holding you back and causing you pain. Bad luck about the mic but there are some good people in the world after all to return it via facebook. I hope the tent tape holds out. Stay safe out there Tim. Thanks for the content! 🫡

It's getting a lot better, but yes I didn't really detail it in this video or the next which is about the recovery but it did take a toll on my mental heatlh. I suddenly had to abandon a lot of plans for over a month (or more, I didn't know a timescale) and rest.
And it's better now I've posted this series, and done a lot of videos around home - but that time the channel seemed to have stalled too, so it came at a really bad time. I guess it did mean I could spend a lot of time editing this series!

Well. hopefully Wednesday...fingers crossed. Started packing and sorting out gear, which means either this week or next week (and also as a shakedown hike for You Know What).

Sometimes life throws you a curveball then sometimes it throws a multitude :( Well done for the trek and I really like the 'report' at the end :) keep them coming, great scenery thanks Tim

Thanks and yes, this trip was a big reason why I changed how I did future trips. I didn't totally learn how to quit it early on, though....

I tried the South Downs way myself last year . My knee gave out too. I managed 63 miles but was in agony at the end.
My wee was like toffee too due to lack of water. Carry 3 litres, loads of painkillers and don't wear trail runners! My feet got hammered as well.

Wow....yes also painkillers can do that...but there is water, but it's hard to find sometimes. Every video is 'where is the water?' I sound like I am crossing the desert, LOL.

Must have been awful only having wine to drink 😂
Look forward to the return...make sure that knee's strengthened for round 2!
    Take care

I always have wine or brandy, it helps on the cold nights ;-)

I have to say knee problems are no joke. I'm in my 20s and a couple of years ago on my first Cape wrath attempt my knee started to play up. It was mild at first so I took some painkillers and carried on. Next day in the evening the pain killers stopped helping and the pain got so bad I though I will have to crawl. Luckily I was right next to a bothy when it got really bad and the next day I took some more pain killers and got to town and decided to end the trip there. While it is satisfying to complete a trail in one go there's no point in suffering for it.

Yeah I learned the hard way to never hike on painkillers - I only do it here so I can get to an out point, and really didn't want to use them (and they didn't really work anyway)...you can do much more damage that way.

Such a shame you couldn't complete your trip but you live to fight another day. Better than a night with the occasional murderer. 😆👍👍

LOL yes. I wonder if Brighton people will be upset by that one...but Devil's Dyke is rather notorious.
Also...it's really weird they basically make so much out of...a ditch? There's not much there, bar the pubs, shops etc. It's more of a shopping/drinking opportunity. Also I saw the exact same kind of 'dry river' glacial stuffs earlier on, near Kingston-by-Lewes. It's not that unique for the area.

I know what you mean. I grew up in Lincolnshire near 'Ermine Street' the old Roman road. Everyone talked about it but in fact it was just a grass covered track. Never got what the fuss was about. 😆

@manning2132 my great grandparents and before on my Dad's side all come from Brigg, or around there! Apparently my family were Lincoln market gardeners on that side.
