  • Hiking to Winchester from Cocking and the final parts of the South Downs Way.
Here's the first of a two-parter featuring wild camping near the Devil's Jumps (a 4000 year old Bronze Age Burial site) and a magical frosty dawn, nosy locals asking too many questions, Harting Down and Head Down, grouse and Muntjac deer that won't shut up and some even stampeding deer next to my tent!
History, art, archaelogy, animals, this one has it all.
Gear mentioned in the video (Amazon affiliate links)
EDZ 260gsm Merino Wool Tube-a-Clava Blue amzn.to/3J6s1St - UK company!
    Lanshan 2 tent: amzn.to/3VIq3PT

Cracking video my friend! I love seeing your art take form. The views after that were awesome and the terrain was pretty cool. It seems strange to watch this knowing it was shot before we met 🤯👍

Thank you! It was supposd to come out before the Collab video, but events/timing meant I switched it around and it got delayed....why I am frantically editing part 2 - finished pretty much, but both was nearly 2 hours hence the two parter - and then the Thames Path ones because I feel there is a massive backlog I need to clear. Going mad doing editing though!

The best reply to the nosey locals is “Mind your own business”

As you noticed I wear my safety boots on excursions. They are water tight and have a steel mid sole. No nasty spikes in my feet. I was listening to the owl when you heard noises outside your tent. 🫡

Yes I dunno if I could hike in anything like that! But as an art student I wore steel capped boots.

@harduphiker I don't do very much hiking as you see in my videos. 🤪 I also like the ankle support. I broke my right foot years ago and done a lot of damage around the ankle, so the ankle support from boots really helps, especially when it's cold. If I were to do lots of hiking then I'd invest in hiking footwear with ankle support. I had to watch your video in three parts. Before work, during break and then after work. Always enjoy your videos Tim 🫡

@@AnIdiotOutdoors sad to hear that...ankle support is essential if you need it, yes.
But my comments were more for those thinking boots are 'safer' for ankle twists or breaks, well I know that's not true,
I nearly broke my ankle many times hiking or walking with boots, and had some bad sprains/twists. I used to wear boots, hiking and mountain boots until about 15 years ago, all the time. I've not had that with trail runners, far less twisting of ankles usually.
And thank you! Yes this video was supposed to be one video...which was nearly 2 hours! o.O I think definitely the Thames ones will be shorter hopefully, even if I have to seperate them into Day 1, Day 2 etc.
