Thames Path 11: A Lake of Ship - Henley via Shiplake to Reading

Day 11 of the Thames Path Thames Spring series, and a storm hits. Flooding, mud, 45-50mph wind.and rain, can I make it to Reading through the Lake of Total Ship? This is where the Thames Path takes a rather more scary turn.
Finding blow-up bouncy temples at Henley-on-Thames, laughing about Hurley Bottom, Swiss random art smuggling, Remenham do doo da doo doo, another broken bridge at Marsh Lock and diversion shenanigans, and getting my feet wet at Shiplake and Railway Limbo...

Such a shame the weather was so bad, looks like you walked through some lovely parts on this stretch. You pushing on despite the conditions getting worse, reminds me of Russ Malkin's advice on "Long Way Round" when he told Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman they could take the easier option, but they might regret missing out on true purpose of the journey: the adventure. It's obviously easier for them when they had a whole crew tagging along, but you get what I mean. :D

Wow, I just can't tell you how impressed I am.
I thought if the sun ever returned, I might cycle a few miles down the Thames path and spend the night under the stars.
I can't quite believe you've got this far.

@@harduphiker I hope you made it all the way to Kemble and had some good times along the way! I was a fair weather hiker and did most in the warmer months (sometimes too hot!) but it was well worth it!
