Your Boys are so fortunate to have their Grandparents so close. They will have amazing memories. Praying🙏 for your father inlaw. Your Tiles are looking amazing! 😊
I’ve done something similar to the backsplash and used a small piping bag. I filled in the grout lines that way then went back and wiped them down. It helped not use so much grout and kept the wood tiles painted. I wish I could have said this earlier. But it still looks great!
So sorry you will have to repaint the triangles in the kitchen. But it will be worth it when it's done. I hate it when things go wrong! So sorry too Philip's dad isn't completely well and home yet. Sending you all best wishes and love for a quick recovery for him.
Just and FYI... some of your veg looked rootbound when they were taken out of the pots. In the future you should rough up the roots a bit so they are not just going around and around. They will not spread out into the new soil in the garden, just continue to go around. They will do better going forward.
If it has a hazy look clean it with vinegar water , me and my husband install ceramic for a living , you should have sealed it with poly a few times before grouting it
Prayers for Phillips father. Also use unsanded grout for thin grout lines like on those tiles. Looks nice though! I love growing my garden but it doesn’t always produce like I want it too! Super satisfying!
You would have been better off using painters caulk as grout. I believe the sand in the sanded grout and the use of the paint scraper vs. grout float assisted in the removal of the painted “tiles” I know you will make it beautiful for your in-laws.
I am so looking forward to holding in my own hand a handcrafted original English item to craft with. So cool. I agree with the others that the sanded grout might not have been the best choice, but it was wonderful watching you work through the problem. That goes a long way with all of us who have struggled. We're with you 100%! Phil, your Dad is such a wonderful man. We are all wishing, hoping and praying he can come home soon. He will live seeing the veggie garden.
I was worried that the sink was what would be ruined, after washing grout down--I'm glad the actual problem just requires a bit of painting! Hope Phil's dad is better soon. My mom just got out of the hospital last week (due to the virus we all wish would go away). Glad you're making sure he gets good care, and hopefully all will be well soon!
I cringed when you put that wood backsplash up. Unless you apply a hardy coat of acrylic that wood is going to be a nightmare to maintain. Sometimes the best laid plans are not very practical 😟. Good luck.
Could you have just applied caulking in between the tiles instead of grout over the tiles. Or just have used a syringe to apply the grout between the tiles, it may have to have been watered down
Loving the tile back splash and you have lots of things to plant awesome 🌻 Our heartfelt prayers with Phillips dad and mom during this hospital stay 💗 love and hugs Also DIY Box is a fantastic idea Have a blessed rest of your week
Phillip your mom looks so happy. So glad that your family is intact. I was lucky, had all of my grandparents until I was a late teen and grandmthers well into adulthood. The memories are unforgettably from this nearly 66 year old woman.
😊 lovely comment lost my lovely grandparents within the last 4 year's very lucky to have had them as long as I did. Sometimes I still hear my nan say fancy a nice ham sandwich and some onion relish
First and foremost, wishing your dad a speedy and complete recovery! 💙 Secondly, the lads have gone so tall! It is wonderful to see how you work together as a family! Sending love and light to your gorgeous veggie garden! May it all thrive! 💚 And thirdly, my heart bled for you and your tiles. So much work! I know there are often learning curves. I am 100% positive it will look amazing in the end, as always. ❤️
You could have put the grout in a frosting plastic bag and put it just on grout lines. Less to wipe off and clean. I would have used caulk since it’s wood.
For any future projects, like this one (tiles), there is unsanded grout (not sure if there is premixed). We used it for our granite tiles. Wow, so many tomato plants! We needed tomato cages for ours. If you do get cages, get the really sturdy round ones. The square ones just bend all of shape. Can't wait to see all the veggies you have at the end of summer!
Horrible you are not supposed to use sanded grout, sanded grout is when you have a big space in between. Plus you should have put the UNSANDED grout in a bag and squeezed it into the lines and not the tiles.
Advise, In future don't use the pre-mixed grout. It is harder to work with and make sure you clean the tiles well because the pre-mixed grout is almost impossible to get off once it dries.
I’m sorry but I’ve been preoccupied with preparations for family coming to visit for our 4th of July holiday. There has been no time for the past 8 days before or during and after for me to spare for any tv or You Tube watching. I missed Phil’s Dad needing to be hospitalized. I certainly wish him a perfect recovery for whatever his situation has been. ❤ I love all of what you are doing with your parent’s house and what you are all doing together with the plants. 🤟
Oh, Girl! When you said sanded grout, I winced! Maybe should have used unsanded grout? I’m sure it will work out. I’m just watching the grouting at this point and don’t know how this is going to work 😮
Can appreciate your wanting the tile colors to be more saturated but quite like the very 'weathered' appearance as it complements the age and look of the house. Prayers for Dad's speedy recovery and return to home very soon.
Sending lots of prayers for Dad, crossing all my fingers that he will be healthy and home soon. I've totally got faith that the backsplash will be awesome once done!
My father was an electrician and he always said that any wall wired power outlet should have a swith plate over them. I cringed, seeing the kitchen wall tile around an unprotected power outlet. The potential of exposure for electrical shock or a fire is alarming and dangerous. I am surprised that no one has mentioned or noticed this from the video. I know it may be a pain to reconfigure the tiles, but your parents and their home will be safer by placing switch plates over the outlets. Being that it is in the kitchen, even a splash or pour of water over that outlet poses a great danger. Please understand that I am not trying to be negative towards your hard, beautiful, loving work in helping your parents just concerned for everyone's safety. Prayers for your Dad. You both are a great blessing to your parents/in laws. Please get switch plates.😉😊❤🥰
I think grout is for surfaces like tiles or professionally polished wood. Not for wood only. That’s why the grout didn’t go as planned. ❤These triangles are one of kind tiles and look like ceramic ones.
I would complete the grout now that you started it, sand it down lightly to get the excess grout off it and does not leave film. Then repaint and seal. Good luck.
I was smiling the whole time with you in the kitchen… 😂. Repainting, I would probably have torn every one of them out and threw my hands up. But I know you can’t do it!!! My vegetables are just not coming off for us to eat. Planted first of May. Beryl is raining in us right now in Southeast Oklahoma and enjoying every bit of it.
Sorry to hear about your father in law, I’m sure he will be taken good care of in Guysborough Memorial or in Antigonish….. He is in my thoughts and hope he gets home healthy and quickly. 💜🤟🏼
Speedy recovery to Phillips Dad! FYI - You might want to use a bucket of water to rinse the grout and then dump it outside. Putting grout in your drains is not good.
Praying all his test come out good. All can be fixed with little medical intervention. Then tile looks really good. I was worried about that when you put them up. You will fix them though. Seal them good. Mom looks good. Love your idea, with the project box. Think shipping to Florida would be expensive but will watch the shows. Sounds fun. Peace!
Use unsanded grout. And goodness, don't ever put grout down the drain, you'll clog up the pipe. It looks beautiful! Prayers for Phillips dad. The plantings look super!
I didn't even think about the paint coming off. I knew you had sealed them. Well "it" happens.😉 I know you will fix it. At least they still got the wow when they came home. It will be fun watching the garden come in. 🌱🌱🌱👍🏼
Prayers to you Dad …. Have faith in the process with Mom’s Kitchen … if you ever do a wood tile wonder if there is a non sand grout product maybe like what is used for vinyl tile ??? Your all are going to have such a beautiful garden with all the plants 🌱
There is unsanded grout you can get. Not sure if you can get it in a tub or not but i have bought it in a caulking tube before. That way you could have squeezed it into the spaces and wiped off excess. I found this when i was grouting around my tube where tile met the tube.
I know I’m days later but I have to say it might not have been the look you were wanting but I liked the tiles after you grouted. They looked distressed. I know it’s not for everyone but I like the look!
Tomato plants grow to be very big, hope they will come out ok, just pull out the ones that will grow under the shade of the bigger ones eventually. I have a green thumb sister in law and her tomato plants are all in their own large pots and are almost 2 feet high right now with small tomatoes already… in northern New Brunswick. I always tease her and say she is competition for Heinz as she cans tomatoes, juice, paste and sauce as well. Good luck with the gardening.
You are not supposed to let the grout fall inside the sink. She is going to get a big stoppage. When the grout settles and it will she is going to have to do her underground pipes again.
Gad! Don’t rinse your sponge in the sink. That grout will set up in your pipes!
Drew Scott installed textured floor tiles and had to use a piping bag to get the grout between the tiles so you may need that method.
All I could think was, I wonder if a pastry piping bag would work.
I was thinking piping bag and unsanded grout, too! Maybe it needed a couple coats of sealer before the grout?
Yes I love Drew's channel
Prayers for Phillip's Dad.
Your Boys are so fortunate to have their Grandparents so close. They will have amazing memories. Praying🙏 for your father inlaw. Your Tiles are looking amazing! 😊

consider using white silicon caulk the kind for kitchens and bath. this will inhibit any mold.
Praying for your father Phillip.
Sanded grout is for 1/4" or bigger grout lines and generally is only used on floors. The grit from the sand is what removed the paint.
Prayers to Philips Dad.🙏
Looking forward to see how the garden comes long.
Praying for wisdom for the physicians on how to treat your dad. ❤
I love watching the boys getting their hands dirty and helping you plant. 🌱 Well wishes for your father in law. Hopefully he’ll be home soon.
Sending healing thoughts to Phillip’s dad. Unsanded grout and a grout float. You scrap it off with the float as you go along.
So sorry you will have to repaint the triangles in the kitchen. But it will be worth it when it's done. I hate it when things go wrong! So sorry too Philip's dad isn't completely well and home yet. Sending you all best wishes and love for a quick recovery for him.

There is non sanded grout that you can buy.

Your determination is to be admired!! Prayers for Phillip’s dad xo 🙏
Unsanded grout might have been a better option. But it does look good with the white grout. 👏
I believe in you! You can fix it! I will be praying for Phil's dad tonight.
Prayers for Phillip’s Dad speedy recovery and healing. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾💖🥰🌷🕊️

Healing prayers for Philip's father thanks for sharing

*Yes‼️ EXCELLENT ADVICE‼️😉*

IM SO HAPPY FOR ALL YOU GUYS IM PRAYING FOR PHILS DADS RECOVERY GOD BLESS I LOVE YOU ANNAMAY
I hope Phil's dad has a speedy recovery. I started some sunflowers and dill from seeds. 😊
The look of terror on your face, and Philip just laughed. Sending good thoughts to your dad.
Oh, Girl! When you said sanded grout, I winced! Maybe should have used unsanded grout? I’m sure it will work out. I’m just watching the grouting at this point and don’t know how this is going to work 😮

Why did you use sanded grout? I hope no problems with drain after washing grout down itl. I really love the tiles!!
My father was an electrician and he always said that any wall wired power outlet should have a swith plate over them. I cringed, seeing the kitchen wall tile around an unprotected power outlet. I hope all that grout won’t stop up the sink
Hi Elysia Philip & boys, prayers for Philips Dad. 🙏❤️🙏
Praying for Phil’s dad. Successful and speedy recovery 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Unsanded grout would have been less abrasive.
I think grout is for surfaces like tiles or professionally polished wood. Not for wood only. That’s why the grout didn’t go as planned. ❤These triangles are one of kind tiles and look like ceramic ones.
*Elysia, the grout will CLOG UP THE SINK‼️ PLEASE DON'T WASH ANYMORE GROUT DOWN THE SINK'S DRAIN‼️😔*
I would complete the grout now that you started it, sand it down lightly to get the excess grout off it and does not leave film. Then repaint and seal. Good luck.

Can't you just use caulking in a tube? Would be easier and wouldn't scratch your triangles.
Drew at lone fox uses a piping bag. Always fun to watch tfs
Hun, I think you should get a fresh coat of colour on each triangle and then use clear acrylic spray seal them. That woulx save you a ton of work.
I think you use the wrong kind of grout. I've crowded a lot of things and that one didn't seem like it had any liquid in it
Sending love and praers for Phil's Dad. I hope he gets well and is able to return home soon.
It will be fine. When your done it will be beautiful. You can fix anything.
Sorry to hear about your father in law, I’m sure he will be taken good care of in Guysborough Memorial or in Antigonish….. He is in my thoughts and hope he gets home healthy and quickly. 💜🤟🏼
It looks beautiful!! It will be soo nice when finished!!! Praying for your father-in-law.
Maybe unsanded grout would work better?
Prayers lifted for Phil’s dad. 🙏🏻❤
The white color of the grout is nice. What a shame it is making extra work for you. Hope Dad gets to come home soon!
God bless the English family. Father God give the drs insight on how to treat Philp dad.🤟🐎💜🤗
Speedy recovery to Phillips Dad!
FYI - You might want to use a bucket of water to rinse the grout and then dump it outside. Putting grout in your drains is not good.
Love that you keep it so real on your videos. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻for Phil’s Dad.
apply sealer to wooden blocks. you have to have a barrier so the grout doesn't penatrate into the blocks like it did
Maybe use a flexible plastic of silicone spatula to apply the grout?
Praying all his test come out good. All can be fixed with little medical intervention. Then tile looks really good. I was worried about that when you put them up. You will fix them though. Seal them good. Mom looks good. Love your idea, with the project box. Think shipping to Florida would be expensive but will watch the shows. Sounds fun. Peace!
You have the sweetest personality! Thats why I subscribed.
aww thank you so much 🫢
Perhaps a sandless grout would be good for this application? I believe they use it for glass tiles. Still love the backsplash🥰
Use unsanded grout. And goodness, don't ever put grout down the drain, you'll clog up the pipe. It looks beautiful! Prayers for Phillips dad. The plantings look super!
Sending love and good vibes to Phillips Dad!
*The raised beds look REALLY GOOD with your starter plants 🌿🍃 in place; GOOD JOB❣️🤟🥰💜*
Get well soon, Papa English!!!
It is so nice to see your family all together helping plant the garden.
I didn't even think about the paint coming off. I knew you had sealed them. Well "it"
happens.😉 I know you will fix it. At least
they still got the wow when they came home. It will be fun watching the garden

use non-sanded grout with a grout float
It will be fine! Hope Dad is home soon!!!
Guess the grout had a sand paper effect😊
I did a bottle cap table and the grout scratched the caps so I used caulk instead.
What if you had cleared the blocks with poly before grouting?? Now I am super curious! Prayers for Dad.
When I did mine I used a tube and did every crack! Took a long time but I didn’t fill up any of the natural stone dimples.
Using an icing bag might be less messy. Plus check the drain too
I know I’m days later but I have to say it might not have been the look you were wanting but I liked the tiles after you grouted. They looked distressed. I know it’s not for everyone but I like the look!

So gladbu guys❤ so much support. I cant WAIT!!!! ❤🎉 i wanted those monstera soxbad im STOKED im getting them as coasters!!! So so happy TY hunny❤
Good job planting the boys all involved so nice to see it’s a family affair ❤❤❤❤
Elysia Im not sure what diamond stuff is but had you thought about using a resin to paint over the tiles to seal them?
You need a rubber tool to apply the grout, a sponge to wipe off.
Prayers for Phillips dad. Use I sanded grout for thinner grout lines like yours. White looks good. Your energy is amazing!
It is that Grout that messed it up. I used it on regular tiles and it stuck on those. I have never had my grout stick like that before.
Oh, wow, using a sponge to apply grout???! You should never wash grout down the sink. Ugh.😮
I actually LOVE the scuffed tiles!!! Just leave it and seal it!
Sending get well wishes to your dad. It is so wonderful to have your parents close by. ❤️❤️❤️
I hope Phil's dad gets well soon🤟🤟❤❤
You are not supposed to let the grout fall inside the sink. She is going to get a big stoppage. When the grout settles and it will she is going to have to do her underground pipes again.
