    One more good advice. Because the first engine malfuntion error will be for the vaporizer itself, either the glow plug or temp to low for regen. A lot of people ignore it at that point, as the engine is not yet in limp mode and they think it's fine and keep driving. Then they clog up the dpf, and I've even heard about turbos busted, because of the hight exhaust preassure. So as soon as you get exhaust temp to low error, just change the vaporizer asap, don't drive anymore than a few miles. That's how I've done. Got the low temp for regen error, drove it straight to the garage to change the vaporizer, got there with dpf load still at about 50%. Changed it, no static regen needed, all fine.

    I've just seen a post on a Mondeo group, that someone actually managed to clean it with some chemical stuff. Don't know what stuff was that, but might be worth a try given the cost of a new vaporiser.

    Great vid. I think this might be my problem. I have a transit connect 2012 with dpf and I get an Orange cog ! Light on dash saying engine malfunction. The diag reads code po380 glow plug, control circuit. I changed the engine glow plugs but light still comes on after about 15 mins of driving. If my vapourizer glow plug was knackered would this be the same code? I did have a code about a week ago which hasn’t come back though, p244c temp too low during regen bank 1. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

    Clearly this engine has been designed to maximise chargeable labour time to the absolute maximum. I'm surprised that some kind of international trading standards body doesn't exsit to fine ford and other car manufacturers who clearly design their products to empty as much cash from your wallet as possible. Also it can't be very environmentally friendly if you have to replace items in the engine because they were disturbed to get to what should be an easy to service part. There's videos are really opening our minds to how much car manufacturers are ripping us of in the way things are designed.

      Hi, lol, I don't think 2009 mondeos had vaporisers fitted.
      To know for sure you will have to look on your exhaust down pipe. I don't ever recall any 2009 Mondeo with a vaporiser on it. They came out late 2011- 2014. Hope this helps. Thank you for your comment

    Question - my Mondeo only goes into limp home with the error message when under acceleration and coming up for 90mph. Then goes off itself the next time I go to drive - does this sound like this issue?

    Hi Alan I have a focus mk3 1.6 tdci econetic and an info light(!) came on with p244c fault code (low catalyst temperature) does this code match with a faulty diesel vaporizer?

    • @alan4x
      @alan4x  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      hi, yes that code does relate to the dpf nozzle if your car has one...also if there are two rubber hoses going from your dpf to an electrical box on your bulkhead...check them hoses are not burnt through first

I know there is 1.5 ecoboost, but I m unsure if this unit has the same overheating issues and head gasket problems. Any advice would be really appreciated. Thanks

    Hi Alan. Any idea how it decides to regenerate on these Mondeos? Trying to understand if I have an issue or not. I can drive for up to 3 full tanks of fuel without ever noticing a regen. Perhaps it's doing them and I don't notice. But other times, I can notice a regen when I stop (I always drive off again to let it complete). But as I said I can go for weeks without noticing one, and other times I can feel a regen even after 300km after the las one. And once even after 150km from the last one. Even dough I pretty much drive the same roads mostly, with like only 30% city driving. I also use the same premium fuel everytime. I never drive bellow 2000rpm, and driving pretty fast in general. The random 150-300km intervals scare me a bit. Is it just normal? Thanks

    • @radulescu21
      @radulescu21 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I cannot find any real technical data on these. Thers is only one site which seems ok, that mentiones "Frequency varies between 160 km and 500 km and each regeneration process lasts between 10 and 20 minutes." Mine lasts less than 10 mins...guessing it could regen as maintenance to, on steady drives? As 150 km without any city driving I don't think could fill it. I got longer intervals with city driving than this.

    • @alan4x
      @alan4x  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      no you don't have to prime it but usually you fit a new one when service engine now is displayed on your dash and the engine lamp is on.. you would then need to have a static regeneration carried out on your diesel particulate filter before the engine codes can be erased

    • @Dvd888
      @Dvd888 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You should be working for the Ford Technical Support Department. On the morning of Friday 22nd November 2019 my Ford Galaxy Mk4 (2017) went into SMC Ford Gravesend with the amber engine warning light to be checked . Same day afternoon I been told it was one of the O2 sensor on the DPF has gone, needed replacing. They didn't have the parts and it's on order should be here Monday or Tuesday, advised me not to drive the car. And don't worry the repair was under warranty. So I left it with them. Came Tuesday 26th November, they told me the parts had to come from Germany and should be here Thursday. On Thursday 28th November they told me the sensor had been changed but the DPF was not doing an automatic regeneration and they don't know why and THEY HAD TO CONTACT FORD TECHNICAL SUPPORT DEPARTMENT FOR ADVICE. And they can only do this by email. The problem was It took one day to ask a question and the next day for a reply from Ford. Anyway it took them a week to get nowhere with the problem. Today Monday 9 December they told me they been advised to change the Fuel Vaporiser. It's going to be Thursday 12th or Friday 13th December when the Fuel Vaporiser will arrive. Not sure if this will definite solve my problem. This has taught me lesson for buying a Ford. Never ever to buy a Ford again. Alan if you were working for them I am sure it wouldn't take this long for my car to be repaired.

      hi, the only problem i have is i have had nothing to do with these power shift gearboxes...if your car is jerking at slow speed...it could be gearbox related.
      there is a guy here on you tube who fixes cars and owns a mondeo with your gearbox..he may well be able to answer how these gearboxes behave because i have drove some of these auto boxes today and they are awful .. anyway he is called badgertronix.. might be worth asking him your problem first,
