    1:45 my great uncle rode a 1921 Indian scout from San Francisco to Watkins Glen, NY when he was discharged from the navy after WW1. Once I save up enough I'd love to get an Indian of my own and ride cross country in his name!

    Spot on review of the bike. Everything you mentioned is very accurate. What I did to improve the ride of my Indian Scout Bobber was changed the stock tires to pirelli night dragons and got a Corbin. After a 2 hour ride to my dealer I knew that seat had to go. Rides so much better now. I want to mention that this is my first bike, so I don’t know any better lol.

    I've barely given a second look to any Bobber or Cafe Racer style bikes. Like you, I'm a taller and bigger guy, for which this style was not designed for. But this bike is pretty sharp looking, and I can see the appeal it will have to the intended riders. Great review on a good looking bike. Nicely Done. Stay Alert. Ride Safe, in a fun way. Fair review, man! I tested one just last weekend and loved it. Would have probably made the same points about the riding position, modest damping and what it is good for. I actually wanted to try the 'normal' scout but they only had the bobber available so took that one. I think I would probably actually prefer the scout because of the riding position and more suspension travel. What I really loved about this machine is how the engine, gearbox and geometry works together so immaculately! ...and it really goes! Have to seriously hang on to it when the road opens up! :D Immense fun!

    Considering that in many countries (Brazil included) one of those bikes can be very expensive, and the bigger models even more, many motorcycles travel across country (and to other ones, like all over South America or from Brazil to Alaska on a Honda 150cc) in the smaller models: Indian Scout or HD Sportster.
    I am positive a bigger bike is more reliable and comfortable than a smaller one (I own a TC96 myself), but necessity is the mother of invention, my friend!
    Crushing those miles, no matter what it takes! The wind is the same!
    I am sure your reviews are helpful for future buyers! Keep it up!

    Adam, I have to say, I really like your videos. It is a rare thing for me to comment on a video. But I felt that I needed to give you this feedback. I have ridden since I was a child and have never owned a Harley or Indian. I have only owned Hondas, 2 VTX 1800s, a Shadow 1100, and a CB. However, you make Harleys and Indians accessible and friendly and I really enjoy listening to you and your girlfriend enjoy your adventures with your little pup. I am a veteran and am looking at my first Harley. I may trade my Honda CB1100EX all because you have made this life seem so appealing to me. I am in North Texas and not too far from the Paris Harley you speak about so often. Maybe I will see you there. See you on the road.

    One of the guys at work brought his to work and let me ride it today the seat I found not that comfy but the stance of this bike and the fact that I am only 5ft 8 makes it perfect for me and I love the look I think this bike is sick and it's what I would want because I am not a touring rider so this would be my everyday rider to work and anywhere on my own. As long as it was not for extended periods of time I have sat on way comfier seats.

    I purchased a 2018 in 2017 and love it. High rpm 8k redline in first gear and hit 70mph. I prefer this bike over Harleys 1200’s. I’ve driven it inner city and Austin to San Antonio without issue. Getting a stabilizer bar to help reduce the risk of wobble at high speeds. It’s grade “A” in my book. Thanks for you review. Downside to me is the missing fuel gauge, dont like just a warning low on gas when est 50 miles left...

    The scout engine has overhead cams. Should rev to 8000.
    Harley sportster can't compare in rpm. Pushrod engine.

    • @michaelbarras6950
      @michaelbarras6950 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Nightraid yourface I don't look at HP numbers as much as I do torque in the sweet spot.
      If the Scout is going to be used in the upper rpm all the time then yes it has the advantage.
      But, in the normal riding area Sportsters have a torque rating of 73.0 ft. Lb.@3500 RPM, where as the Scout has a torque rating of 72.0 ft. Lb. @ 6000 RPM.
      The Sportster has the better numbers in the lower RPM(0 to 3500) range of a v-twin.
      I'm not into full out WOT when I ride so looking at the torque numbers I would go with the sportster as my choice.
      It's really what you are looking to use the bike for. If you like speed or just go out and cruise.
      Now when it comes down to gearing that depends on how final drive is set up. I can't find the ratios. But really the scout is not a low rpm cruiser. You have to keep the rpm above 2500 for risk of lugging the engine. So you have to learn how to ride that bike different if you have ridden traditional air cooled v-twin.

    • @michaelbarras6950
      @michaelbarras6950 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @Nightraid yourface the 2 engines are different animals.
      One turns 8000 rpm and the hp number is at 7500 rpm.
      Harleys are not made to run at high RPM. Where and how I ride, torque is the important factor.
      Horsepower is the total power output of an engine, while torque measures the "turning/torquing ability" of the engine. Practically, torque is a better measurement of how quickly your bike will accelerate, while horsepower (relative to weight) is a better measure of your bike's top speed.
      I am not a drag racer. I don't need top speed over acceleration.
      I like air cooled engines, less to maintain and worry about than liquid cooled engines.
      Thermostats have a tendency of going bad. Hoses needing replacement. Fluid change, etc.
      1200 Sportster turns 3200 rpm at 70 mph in 5th gear.
      Indian Scout Bobber-
      A six-speed transmission and a left-side final-drive belt transmit power to the rear wheel. The Scout is geared to comfortably roll along at 70 mph in sixth gear at 3,750 rpm.

    • @bharsen

      All this talk about torque and horsepower. Long story short. The scout can run high 11's in the 1/4 mile. The 1200 Evo sporty cant even muster 13's.... Low end torque is useless on a motorcycle sinve you only have a 3 inch contact patch. Two things happen with major low end torque on such a tiny contact patch, you spin your tire under heavy acceleration or you wheelie under heavy acceleration. Otherwise you have to pedal it, which hinders your ability to go wide open throttle sooner. The 1/4 mile times speak for themselves really.

I would like to say that the best way to test ride them is at Bike rallies that offer them to test ride in a group cause the Dealers won't let you take one to far just like around the block and that just isn't long enough. Ride safe every one.

    I've always wanted to learn how to ride a bike but I'm a little on the shorter side around 5' 9ish" with shoes on. Something that sits lower to the ground might work better for me. Nice vid man.

    Adam good vid, since the Scout and 48 are similar or what both Manufacturers are mirroring. I know the 48 has an extremely small gas tank and from the looks of the Scout maybe Indian got a leg up on that?

    Cool Scout Bobber. To me, "similar" to a small 883 Hugger/Sportster I use to own. I never rode it long distance, thinking, it would not be comfortable enough for my back. However, other sources said, their 883 rode fine long distance. Maybe, the Indian Scout Bobber would as well. Sure is a nice one!

    I love my 2019 Indian Scout Bobber, however... is it normal for the exhaust pipe to get extremely hot even when it was just idling for a couple of minutes? This is my first bike so I'm not sure if this is normal or not.
