    Hey riders,
    I got one of the Bobbers and I love it. Sure I agree that the suspension is not made for the speed humps of our cities! But when it comes to the (in my terms always present Bavarian) local smooth local roads, it is perfect. And what I mean is the accuracy to circle the bike through the bends.
    I was riding KTMs for 20 years thinking to be on the privilege side, but on the first ride I reckoned there is an alternative in the V2 section.
    AND! As an sporty KTM fanatic, I realised, beyond the 4000 revs there is an effortless power shoot that did not let me miss my beloved 660 SMC. :)
    Thanks to the American engineers to get the Indian spirit continue in the new versions!
    And thanks, its been good video guys, and let your hip joints get replaced ;)

    "I need back surgery after riding this" *only drives on brick roads on a bike meant for smooth roads* you wouldn't take a BMW s1000rr off road. Why are you testing this bike on terrible roads?

      I have had the biggest bikes but now ride a Harley 48 stage 2 screaming eagle and it is crazy fun but beats the living hell out me on any bumps. The corners are insanely confident and far leaning. I love the bike BUT I rode the scout today and my God! Corners really good, transitions and bumps are butter smooth. No wiggle, wobbles or searing back pain. This guy must be riding a marshmallow all day to say the scout is NOT smooth on the road and we never saw him on a highway. The scout flat out kills it at 80 mph and feels very stable at 100 mph. I am beginning to think he works for the competition lol. If you are considering a scout then go ride one. You will not be disappointed. I did and I am ready to step up to the scout from the HD. I am not a Harley hater hell I own one but the scout truly is a better bike.

    Great modern cruiser and great review. I don't understand the naysayers who have never even ridden one! Get over your preconceptions and ride one, you won't think it's antiquated then. The Scout V-Twin engine is only 3 years into its production life, it's a modern liquid cooled engine!

  • @joeglenn7323
    @joeglenn7323 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'm no engineer, but lowering the suspension has the angle of the rear shock more horizontal than vertical. It looks like it's going to make the ride a little more on the harsh side than necessary. Maybe they put different springs and shocks on it than they did the original Scout. If not, look to that to make the ride more complaint.

    LOVE that "Scout Bobber."
    Tell Donavon, I'm 66. Also tell him I named MY SON "Colin," after Mr Chapman.
    About a year ago, I crashed my Dyna "Street Bob," coming back from Colin's house. I broke my arm,
    a few ribs, + MY HIP !
    This was motorcycle crash #6.
    The 1st was in July, 1983. Colin was 6yrs old.
    I saw my older brother die on his
    BSA "Victor." I WANT a Scout.
    I've ridden for 51yrs. I don't care,
    what Colin.... OR my little Sister say, I WANT MY SCOUT !

    Great conversation, and dark humour. It's nice enough looking but I would concur that it's not built for long rides. We call them coffee shop cruisers here in Canada, because they are ridden mostly from home to the local coffee shop. More time spent parked on a "ride day" than ridden

    Bobber and Café racer is not the same thing. Maybe in parts left off, but two completely different styles of bike. Café racers are just that. Bobbers are more iconic to the simpler times of motorcycles and the nomadic persona of that era in the 60's and 70's. Think Easy Rider.... was that motorcycle a Café racer or a bobber?? But I enjoy the overall look of this Indian Bobber, they nailed it with this bike!

    • @ripmax333
      @ripmax333 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tim Barry i understand, yeah that concept from indian is super cool. Unfortunately cruisers will remain always the same, heavy. Unless someone thinks outside the box, motoguzzi had also the Nevada which i think was below 200kg, that was a really light cruiser but also a 700cc. Any way you have to try one,with a low seat its incredible how the weight disappears once the bike starts to move.

    • @timbarry5080
      @timbarry5080 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      +ripmax333 right. but imagine if Indian made a concept version of the scout along the lines of the flat tracker. Then we would have a cool modern version of the original Indian scout. And to my mind, at least, we would have a bike far more related to the originals than the lumps currently available.

    • @timbarry5080
      @timbarry5080 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      +ripmax333 on a related note: Billy Joel keeps a shop in oyster bay that houses some of his personal bikes. it's open to the public so people can look at them. some of those bikes are modern interpretations of 30s Harleys. they look authentic but he shortened the tanks, changed the steering geometry and did some other stuff I can't think of, but they are awesome. just like a vintage bike without being as long and cumbersome.

    This one passes the first part of the test, but fails the second.

    I think folks like this are looking at these bikes all wrong. You need to look at these bikes as platforms so to speak. There are some folks that can't afford to dump tons of money initially into customizing a bike but want to ride. I don't know many folks at all, really any, that buy these style of bike and leave it as is. Everyone customizes them at some point. That's the whole thing behind the style of bike to begin with. There are many folks who want to ride that can't afford a $35k-$45K bike right out the gate. The one dude sounds a bit snobbish. Live and let live.

    These new bike shops remind me of casino's, the customer ultimately underwrites the price for all the glitz and glamor as you can see in the escalating prices of bikes.

    Looks good but so can a used $3000 Suzuki m50 converted to a bobber. Review sounds biased.

    I've driven one...top heavy, handles like WW2 jeep, ungainly, but it is a tad quick, if you're really into it, hardly takes a quick turn, and butt ugly (personal opinion and one of the last reasons to buy a scooter, the other being how it sounds). I've been riding for well over half century and have owned over 30 bikes, and own 4 now and have ridden in every conceivable weather and terrain on 4 continents, so in my opinion I sorta know what I'm talking about. By the way, never been on the ground....

    I like the look of it, but I'd much rather have something more like the regular Scout with blacked out chrome. I ride my motorcycle just about every day and in just about every kind of weather. Having all that chrome makes the bike look like ass when people don't keep it polished. At least the blacked out parts still look decent when they aren't constantly cleaned, buffed and polished.

      Even new Harleys sound like Hondas until you put pipes on em. These sound much better with aftermarket pipes. Not like a Harley with its cam lope, but like a drag racer built for performance. It's not everyone's cup of tea, but much better than the Japanese cruisers.

    Back in the day...if you wanted different you had to make it. There were no accessory catalogs. And the result was all of those beautiful but pain in the ass to ride and very American hard tail choppers. Now even the 1%ers are piloting Geezer Glides. Christ, what a bunch of wussies we have become.

    Most riders today don't work on their own bikes, they don't have the skills, patience, or tools to make a bobber. So, in this world of instant gratification we go plunk down our money and we're riding a bobber today! Life is way to short to build something.
