    Didn’t realise making showcase was such an industry- in my dream mansion I have one of these centre stage - not a grand piano - or a sculpture or fountain - nope. An f1 car. True art meets engineering .

    Great to see the artistry that goes into these show cars, although I can always tell when I'm looking at one because they lack detail in key aerodynamic areas like the wings and turning veins. I guess the teams wouldn't want that detail out in the public domain, where their competitors could potentially copy them. Even so, it's a shame we almost never get to see the "true" race-spec cars outside of an actual F1 weekend. That's what makes events like Goodwood so great; the chance to get up close and personal to the actual machines, albeit usually a couple of seasons out-of-date.

      I speculate there are three reasons for this:
      1. By outsourcing the production of the show cars, you obviously can save the actual production team's time to focus on real cars.
      2. The current cost cap rules apply to the actual race and engineering teams and actual cars and parts, but do not apply to marketing costs. If the team themselves were building the show cars, they'd be eating into the race budgets. By outsourcing the show cars this way, they can be entirely considered marketing costs, with no impact on the cost cap.

    I recently saw a RedBull RB18 show car replica and the only way I figured it's a replica is it didn't had DRS system on the wing.

    Great video as always! Please make them longer. There surely is much more to be told, a proper intro, show the other cars they are working on (Williams/force India?), How much they cost? Etc.etc.

    To clarify on this topic, not all the teams use 3rd parties for building show cars. We build these internally at Aston Martin

    These guyswith enough tools can create a track monster at least an Indycar level performance with full flesh F1 car chassis.

    Talking to the makers Where do u get your steering wheels made ? Would you one day consider making replicas for the sim racing market? There’s a huge thirst for good f1 replica steering wheels

      I saw a episode of "can´t pay we´ll take it away"where bailiffs went to settle a debt with Lotus F1, they were offered a showcar to offset the debt. I belive they said it was valued at around $350k, and that was in 2015.

    Wonder why they just dont use a old 2020 car or something.. Lets be honest all F1 people would droll over any year of F1 car. Except for Sebs nameless AMR22, that thing was crap. Seb managed to make it look good at times and had a very underrated year.

    Why the hell has a show car to be made out of carbon fiber? Isn´t F1 on a trip to be more environmentally friendly? Yet they are using one of the most engery consuming material to make show cars where it wouldn´t mater to use glas fiber or natural fiber an bio resin. Even the moulds are carbon fiber. Ridiculus as they are getting painted anyway.

    An obnoxious level of excess! Why use carbon fiber on a replica if it is going to get filler, paint & stickers on top? Might as well flush your money straight down a crapper.

      Fiberglass would be just as strong for a static stationary display, but a whole lot cheaper. This has become typical for F1 too do everything in excess.

      @@fullofjeff weight difference between carbon fiber and fiberglass is only about 10-15%, but fiberglass is much cheaper, easier to work with and still very strong.

      Not really a waste. For an F1 team its easier to use one of these than spare a real one. Most teams run 4 chassis a year. Using one for marketing isn't exactly smart.
