Yes. I have an Anatolian so she’s a bit extra but is amazing. She’s two and I’m putting her back into a local dog training class. She didn’t need the first one last year, she knew her stuff, but she became a happier more social more laid back in public dog who is in love with her trainer. I do it for her and it just teaches me better how to communicate with her as she keeps growing.
Also today I made a training den after seeing your video about it and it’s so awesome already. Even my husband will walk by the room and suddenly I heard
Him calling his pup over to run through some things just because it’s so conveniently right there!

Wow this video hit at a perfect time in my training life. I taught my 18 month BC all the H360 … last week drove 3 hours to his first class not knowing the outcome. Would he work or go crazy with distractions? Well, crazy with distractions. So thinking “what would Susan do “ WWSD” I built a plan to only work around the ring on his behaviors until I get full attention from him. I told the teacher I wasn’t going to go into the ring and build bad habits working my DASH!

New start! I have a 13 wk old Blue Heeler that has been with us for 2wks. He is attached to me but also fearful of people/animals/cars. I think he is getting overstimulated, exhausted every day. I work from home and have taken time off for the adjustment and foundation. I have lots of patients and enjoy him but I don't think I'm giving him what he actually needs. Always trying to learn more about him and his breed bc he is and will be my buddy for the rest of his long life.

I have a puppy training question - I know you will use the word” search” when you throw food on the ground. Can I use the same word (for example “eat”) to allow my dog to eat when I put his food bowl down as when I throw food on the floor during training or as an activity? Could I even use the same “get it” command to refer to allowing him to access any food and any toy? Or should these all be separate cues? Basically, how specific should commands be?

I’m not sure where to start. I pick up our new puppy in a week he’s a McNabb Shepard mix and will be 12 weeks old. First time dog owner with 2 boys 6,10. I thought I would start with IYC, then move to crate games. But should I do home school the dog first?

Yikes. When I put my pup in advanced classes they required choke collars and I had such an emotional conflict about it. He wore it to class, never anyplace else. He never actually needed it.

New start. I have had 14 dogs, of which I currently only have 2 left, one 12 and the other 14 years. Most of them have lived to 14 / 15 years old. My last 8 have been rescue. It has been a while since i have had a puppy and things have changed a lot in this time. I am re educating myself by working my way through your recordings and taking many notes. The latest thing, that i only recently became aware of are the educational food toys. However I have fed my dogs raw since 1992. I follow Dr Ian Billinghurst recommendations. I see you use raw in the toys, i would like to know more on how you manage this? I think the squeeze tube is a great idea, where can i buy one? Do you cook your treats? I would be willing to give up on some raw meaty bones in order to follow the way you train but i am unsure how to use raw with the toys. Do you dehydrate the food? I am getting 2 puppies in October! One final question, i intend to train the puppies separately, could you suggest whether it is best to keep them together in a pen / crate or separate? I would be gratefull for any advice.

I'm a first time puppy owner, previous rescuer. Your podcasts and other materials are so amazing and many of the trainers in my area follow your approach! I'm getting some offers from you via email, but I would like to know what is the best starter program for a comprehensive training plan for my 4-1/2 month puppy? I have crate games (also recommended by a trainer), I'm watching my way through your podcasts -- but what is the next step?
We are attending puppy socialization and the first puppy school for basics. I loved your point about having him already know what is being taught -- we are probably halfway there. I'm also having the trainer in the home on occasion for issues not being taught in puppy class.
