This makes so much sense. I will try to implement this more. I'm a bit lax in the video department.

Hi Susan! We’ve been doing didcdog with our 1-year Cattle Dog/Border Collie. He’s fantastic, but once the game or his turn ends, it turns into a game of him trying to get us to chase him which we don’t follow through with. He will not come when called, follow commands, and shows hesitancy to our “collar give” command (he walks to put his neck/collar into our open palm to hold). We’ve tried a good game of tug with the disc or a rope leash, but now this seems to be an antecedent to being caught. He’s usually good alone in the grassy field with us, but any trial or in-class context leads to this. Disc is one of his most favourite games. Any tips for training around a situation where the fun has to end?

Susan, I have successfully trained all four of my search dogs to bark on command. It is a part of their "search" sequence when the subject is located. My current GSD, training in personal protection, is the quietest Shepherd I have ever had. I work with her tug toys and cut up hot dogs and build frustration. No luck YET. Any suggestions?? 🐾🇺🇸🐕‍🦺🦮

Hi Amanda, give yourself grace, dogs are very forgiving ❤️
The great thing is that you were recording it so you can learn from what you did! When you train next time, use this one minute evaluation at the start of your session and adjust accordingly, and don't forget to let us know if it helped! 🐾

I recommend making declarative statements and not frame them in the form of questions.

Talks far too fast. How is one to absorb what is being said when it is said at this rate?
