- Help! How do I get my dog to focus on me and pay attention? Today I’m sharing the positive reinforcement “secrets” that make your dog prioritize you over environmental distractions. If you feel non-existent to your dog around other dogs, squirrels, cats, people, bicycles, etc. - but you’ve been taught to collar pop and say things like “leave it!” - I’m going to teach you to combine two of my proven, science-based games to inspire your dog to focus on you without you demanding it. No physical or verbal corrections needed.

Love this episode! I am in HSTD, loving it, have a 4 month old pup who is very smart, but also getting a lot of reinforcement in all the things to be found outside. This is very helpful, I will begin implementing today!

Just yesterday, I received an email from a client who mentioned she wanted her dog to have more focus. The implication was that she wanted the dog to focus on HER and not the environment. This podcast will be shared with her
Useful podcast. Susan makes a great point in Recallers Game Day #3 Restrained Recalls that is relevant to this podcast, as well as MY dog paying attention to ME. She says something like, "You need to use a higher value reward, because, otherwise the mediocrity (of the reward) will be transferred to YOU!" DONE.

So, when Prophet came, when I called him of course I praised him, and I you know turned off the camera and I went crazy playing tug with him and letting him have just a great time letting him know that was a massively good choice.

I know the feeling of trying to tape and train at the same time. It’s not very easy if you look at any of my TH-cam’s, I tried to make a couple of walking TH-cam’s with my dog, and once the phone fell out right out of my hand.

Hi Susann, I haven't trained the hand target yet but the it's your choice and it works incredible. Also in the morning on our walk. At the last part of our walk I sit on a bench, wait till she comes and give her cookies and then i do the it's your choice and it is too funny how she reacts every time, she put the head in the opposite side looks far away from it till i see get it, so funny, but how can i get her to look at me even so it is so much fun watching her looking oposite

Question: I started my Dobie pup with your program. I train bird dogs.... my Dobie Pup has a problem getting OUT to HUNT Birds. (My other Dobie is working well- quartering, pointing (yes) & retrieving well) Any suggestions???Thank you.
