Why this Omega Seamaster is my EXIT / Go Anywhere Do Anything watch

  • After years of searching for the perfect GADA / EXIT watch, I've finally found horological happiness. It's not a Rolex Submariner, despite me being a Rolex fan boy! Here is an overview of my journey, and where I've landed. I also explain the reason Rolex can never be a one-watch solution for me. #omega #seamaster #2254.50 #peterblake #piercebrosnan #bond

No one's gonna complain about another 2254.50 video, legendary watch! it could have been an exit for me, came very close, I've had two of them. No wait, three actually. And a lot of Bond's, and a few titanium ones. Turned out to be an electric blue titanium 2232.80 on a titanium Bond bracelet as the one I "could" sell everything else for. Happy you found your personal exit watch, and super happy I found mine. I sure paid my dues finding it!

You raise a very poignant aspect, which is the cost of discovering what your GADA watch is. There's no question that this is an expensive journey, but one thing for sure is that none of these neo-vintage Bond watches are a bad choice!

I appreciate the video so much, thank you for that. I did’n know that phrase Exit Watch before. But this so much, and full video, reflect what I feel after having the Omega 2254 for last 2 months and 15 years of searching the perfect watch. I think all the watch collectors appreciate the watches they have, their number and all the qualities, but in the same time is dreaming about one watch collection. At least I have had like that before I got 2254, which was the answer.

It really is the perfect watch isn't it! Plus there is a 36mm for smaller wrists, and a quartz of each size if you don't want the hassle of servicing an Auto.

Talk about timing ! I just picked up my 2254.50 Peter Blake today ! I’ve had my eye on one for a very long time yet until today never had the opportunity to have one on my wrist , the second I tried it on it spoke volumes to me ! This piece is a timeless classic! I couldn’t get over how slim the case profile was. I’ll be sending mine to service after I’ve had a couple weeks wrist time with it ! It’s a keeper for sure !

That video is 100% accurate. I bought the 2262.50 a couple of months ago (Mid-Size Quartz version) and it literally put an end to my desire to buy more watch for some reason. Everything is perfect (weight, size, overall design, font, bracelet design, etc. ; the original blue bond omega looks a little bit outdated imo with the controversial bracelet design). It really packs a punch for a watch at that price point.
I was looking for the new SMP300 (looks good, but didn't wanted to wear a hockey puck on my wrist), but came across the Peter Blake version. It was literally love at first sight and knew I had to have it.

Great video. Glad you’re feeling better. I’ve got the modern Omega Seamaster 300, bought a couple years ago. It’s fantastic but doesn’t have as much character as your 2254.50. Yeah definitely the fact that you missed it whilst it was away is a sign that you found a real gem. For a great channel that examines the psychology of watch addiction, I mean collecting, check out Jeff McMahon. It’s hilarious. 😅

Great video as usual. I have a modern blue dial reference and I absolutely love my Omega seamaster 300. I am a beefy power lifter, so I actually prefer a 42mm watch. When I first got into watch collecting I thought I would like the Pelagos and the Sinn U1, but I sold them both and realized that I like a little Bling. I still may buy a Submariner if I get an allocation, but for now I am digging my Seamaster. I dive, hunt, fish and kayak in mine and am putting lots of scratches on it, but I don’t mind that.

I haven’t seen anyone add the sword hands to the pierce brosnan seamaster- but that would be pretty cool! I have this same Peter Blake and also love it and it’s the watch I wear if I’m going somewhere I may get robbed. The only thing I don’t like about it is the bezel turn/clicks and turning the crown can be quite annoying at times. I love the bracelet too but also have a Forstner oyster that pairs very nicely with it too.

I have two !! I originally Bought the midsize automatic (36mm) as I wasn't into large watches...but always knew I'd end up with the 41mm at some point and took the plunge about a year ago and got the large one...I absolutely adore it , the sword hands are killers and give it the original vintage British Forces military look. I absolutely hate the skeleton hands of the 2254's younger brothers. I replaced the bracelet and have mine on a good quality mesh bracelet and I think this makes it pop even more. They hold their money and go for around £3000 for a decent example with box and papers which is pretty good for a watch that looks this good

Lovely watch. I'm looking for one but am also considering the 2230500 (Omega's Yachtmaster so to speak with applied indices, logo and the bezel in white gold) or the 21230412001003 (updated model with ceramic bezel, no waves on dial in glossy black).
It's sort of a tough decision for me as I also love the new model in green (21030422010001) due to the color, the sporty but yet elegant look and the tech ofc. I just wish they would have kept the dimensions of the Schwerty models as the new ones really seem to wear much larger.

I had the black smooth dial 41mm Seamaster. Very very nice watch, and still reasonably thin as it had the 2500 movement, as opposed to the later 8xxx movements that are chunky. Solid case back too. I do like the green dial SM too, and have tried it on a couple of times, but not liked it quite enough due to the dimensions. Seamasters should not feel chunky, period!

After I came to my senses I picked up the “Omega Yachtmaster” I lusted after the Rolex Yachtmaster but wasn’t willing to pay the price. The ones that haven't been polished, tend to be beaten up ones that haven't been serviced or looked after, so it's a catch-22. For the viewers who get in a tizz at even the thought of scratching their baby, just buy an F91W and be done with !!. 2254.50 is the best Seamaster 300 ever . Its often touted on tinterweb and TH-cam ' It would be great if Omega released a new version '. No it wouldn't because Omega would fuck it up , probably thick as a brick with a ceramic bezel and lob sword hands on it. If I had to sell all of my collection I'm with you Mark , I would keep my 2254. Not because I would be worried about any of my Rolex or whathaveyou getting swiped off my wrist, its because it is and always will be the mutts nuts of my collection.

The real exit watch has already been established a little over fifty years ago. The Omega Speedmaster, it was the watch picked to exit our big blue ball for the first time.

I bought mine new in 2003 and it was my first ‘proper’ watch. Bought it because I just liked the look of it but very happy it’s been recognised as a classic. Love the cool silky snug feel of the bracelet. It’s surprising that watches became thicker, more bulky and less comfortable.
Had it serviced about 8 years ago and liked that all parts were returned to me.
I’ll never let it go but I do have my name down for my first Rolex…🫢

I'm so envious of anyone with this watch ( one day..), only the electric blue version makes me more green.
I never knew brand new hands could be replaced on watches of that age. Is this typical if just Omega or other ( even cheaper) brands?
Happy diving , the deep or desk, with it.

I was surprised and pleased when Omega replaced the hands on Mark’s and gave him the old ones back. Great to see Omega keeps parts for older watches.
And as Mark says, you can get a good one from a Japanese dealer and get it serviced. Worth saving up for!
