    I have the exact same watch since 2005 and it runs spot on, maybe plus 2-4 seconds a month. Should I send it for its 1st service? Even if it keeps time perfectly? I use it only from time to time.
    Thank you!

    • @HorologyBiology
      @HorologyBiology  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks for watching 👍🏼
      That's a great question. Although watches are similar to cars you have to ask yourself how often should a service be. It depends. I would say if you started noticing either something not right, like how it winds or the start of some problems setting the time etc and of course a drop in the timing then yes you should have it serviced.
      Some people religious do it every 6 to 7 years regardless of how it runs. Modern watches use a much better oiling system which do not wear out as much as ones on vintage pieces.
      To conclude I would say based on what you said you are fine to live with it as it is. It is not losing time, I assume no issues with anything else either.

    • @SuperSnakePlissken
      @SuperSnakePlissken ปีที่แล้ว

      Brother, you need to get that watch serviced if you have never done it before. I've owned several Rolex's and Omega's over the last 30 years, and I've seen the insides of my watches, and one Rolex I didn't have serviced for about 13 years, and several parts needed to be replaed and it cost me a small fortune. I've bought watches that were older that hadn't been serviced in a very long time, and the same problem came where they ended up needing parts replacements. Now, everything I've bought that has been serviced regularly or my personal watches that I have had serviced every 7-10 years have worked flawless and everything is still original.
      For longevity definitely service regularly. Cheers!

    • @HorologyBiology
