@@pixels_per_inch Well, that is true, but I don't like it. Sony always uses very tiny-sounding speakers. Yes, balanced, but extremely tiny. It's terrible imho. Check GSMArena for lab-tests with music samples, all sampled with the same set-up. Be the judge yourself ;) Samsung is a bit tiny too compared to an Xiaomi or iPhone, but it has way more low-end frequency response than the last Xperia 1 II and also a lot more soundstage. Sony has been picking things back up in a really good way. I think they kind of went off the rails with their products around the time they were pushing their weird memory cards. They have made some nice and compelling products over the last 5-10 years.

It's actually mind-blowing on just how well-documented Sony phones are. I've been looking at phones to get a new one recently, and Sony say exactly what it has or doesn't have. USB-C video output? They even specify the resolution. OTG? Damn right, says on the actual specs page. Camera sensor types and sizes, lens focal lengths and apertures? Also right there. Bluetooth audio codecs, 2G, 3G, 4G and 5G frequencies? All well documented. Complete with guides how to hook up the phone to a TV or to a camera as monitor, for example. With other phones to find out if they have USB OTG you need to see a TH-cam test. Funny how he called it an amplified earpiece.
Sony were one of the first to put an actual speaker at the top like HTC so you get balanced audio instead of 'tinny on the left and bassy on the right'.
Nothing new that Linus does next to no research on the phones he looks at. He now just reads a script and comes with some extremely baseless claims.
@@pixels_per_inch good guy htc was so ahead of time with their zero budget marketing
@@pixels_per_inch Well, that is true, but I don't like it. Sony always uses very tiny-sounding speakers. Yes, balanced, but extremely tiny. It's terrible imho. Go listen to a Xiaomi flagship or an iPhone. Those sound full, there is not even a remote comparision possible with the Sony. Imho, the best is the Xiaomi or some of those gaming phones.
@@Samosayummyyay Sony for whatever reason doesn't calibrate their speakers, or should I say keep the equalizer flat. Other companies like Xiaomi and Apple boost the bass and treble so they sound better out of the box. If you tweak the equalizer, it will sound just as good if not better than a galaxy or iphone.

It is so good not to have to rely on unreliable information on phone comparison websites, and then be profoundly disappointed after spending more than monthly salary on a phone, because there was mistake on that site.

You know, the phone is crazy expensive, but I kept my tax check, and throughout the year I kept adding to it so that way I'd actually have the money to buy a high end top notch device. Sony is the only brand offering ALL of the major things we still want in our phones. I've used Samsung for years and I love it, but I MUST have a headphone jack and an SD card slot (or a TON of storage). I actually order this phone a few days ago. Really really excited to get it in the mail. :D
How was your experience with it?
I’d appreciate a more in depth ltt video.

Just upgraded from my OnePlus 7T to this phone, I’m loving it! Sony is truly a amazing brand. I don’t even get a headphone jack on my 12.9 inch iPad, Apple.

Thank you for this video Linus, I have been looking forward to this phone. Would love a full review of this and the 5 III if possible!
I love it. It's a little narrow though? Definitely gonna give deeper into this one. Mad props to Sony for being serious, and not selling toys for kids, like some others.
The aspect ratio is great for watching movies as well as general usage including dual-screen - any bigger and it would be too cumbersome. You do get used to it after initially thinking it is too thin.
So serious they have an insane starting price of 1300 yet are behind in many areas compared to others by 2-7 years. Yeah so serious
@@jackskellington6sic6 Behind where? They do everything better than everyone else. Everyone else is taking their technology. I agree with Linus... If I didn't use the Stylus on my Note 9 as much as I do, I'd opt for this phone...
We can only hope, Samsung realises there mistake, once they see SONY growing in markershare for having features.
Just curious, I assumed you're in a professional level career, what do you mostly use the stylus for? I often find it not useful when making notes but photo editing is a plus tho
@@steveteow5720 I use it to take notes... I use it to sign documents... I use it as a shutter button to take family photos... I use it to easily crop and manipulate photos (especially when taking screen shots and using Google lens to help me translate stuff)...

My Note 9 is a really nice device... It has some glaring flaws... Curved glass screen, glass back, no reverse wireless charging, no ultra wide lens, Bixby button, no shutter button, only single SIM... I want to love it, but I just like it...

@@jackskellington6sic6 Dude no one cares if the competition is 5% better.
@@jackskellington6sic6 you mean 4k 120hz OLED screen, the only big (on a phone) 12MP sensor that doesn't waste pixels when taking videos with extensive manual control for creative workers, front facing speaker with 360 audio, and battery management modes that's not available on other brands unless you root the phone? Removing SD slot and headphone jack also isn't an innovation when the feature packed sony are able to fit it in their flagship phone, it is a regression. 4K...for the few things the phone decides to render in 4K you only get 60hrz. Where as when the phone is in 1080p mode most of the time then you can get 120hrz.
Sony is being very misleading and you sheep are spreading fud.
And the screen that has a pitiful peak brightness that goes back to days of the galaxy s5? And is doubled by 3K oled displays. At least its not only 400nits like the pro. Ruining the entire intended purpose of the pro.
But the s21 ultra can do its full 3K and 120hrz. Plus its brightness is nearly double.
Is not the only large 12mp sensor on a phone. Not even close to the first one recently or from many years ago....typical Sony fan boys again showing they have zero relevant phone knowledge.
Wasting pixels? You really are a sheep.
Other phones have extensive pro controls too. Yes Sony recently added a couple more over others after the years they were behind.
Front facing speakers that are ok. As decent as the rest out there but not matching or beating the better ones.
Plenty of power management options on other devices. And what Sony offers is not much more over others. Nor does it magically make their smaller than average batteries better. At least this one is 4.5k mah instead the 4k of the pro.
Obviously removing those features is not innovation. That's a random side point used to deflect the factual point i made about how bogus it was to call this phone innovative.
You're right. They target sheep and fools. They always lack something and over charge. At least this one has a S888, brighter screen, and larger battery than the pro and is not 2500 bucks.
