This crochet poncho pattern is designed from a simple rectangle shape making it the perfect garment for beginner crochet lovers to try.
The solid body perfectly complements the lacy hem of this asymmetrical crochet poncho. Simple and elegant, this is a must-have in your wardrobe.
The Herringbone half double crochet gives a knit-look to the poncho crochet pattern but you are free to substitute it with regular half double crochet.

What are the measurements or a s/m BEFORE starting the lacy hem? I am wanting to try this with a finer gauge yarn and smaller hook.

it's all on the bottom of her web page she gives above. Iam working on small for my mom but instead of crocheting together I'm going to try to sew in snaps buttons in and the big button on top them :P
i downloaded the pattern but it isn't free, it was $7.05, is it still supposed to be free?

This turned out AWESOME! I made mine in complete Espresso and used off white/espresso buttons. I am going to pair it with a burgundy jogging suits and boots to match. You gave GREAT instructions.

I just made it. Had to wait for the buttons to come via Amazon. My husband thinks that it is a beautiful poncho. I made it using Red Heart super saver in soft white. I wish I could send you a picture. Don't have Facebook, Instagram nor Twitter. Don't even know how to use a cellphone.
Anyway, it was an easy and fast poncho. The lacy shell edge really gives an elegant aspect. Will probably crochet another one as a gift.

I should have read everything before I started, but I was so excited that I found a poncho that I really liked. I like how you explained to put a stitch saver/marker in the chain two.. that was my hardest part so far..except for starting to make double crochets instead lol
