- Grian surviving 100 Hours In Minecraft Hardcore I am spending 100 hours in minecraft hardcore and trying to do all the minecraft things and still survive till the end, when do you think I will fail? This is a unique series where we have guests on to help out with difficult tasks.

I kinda like the idea of something like this, where it's like a hardcore lite; when someone dies, whatever they were working on its left incomplete, they have to get rid of all their stuff, and change what they have built to make it look ruined and abandoned, before moving onto their next life, slowly building up a history of the world over several lives of always incomplete and/or ruined projects

@@bry0402 such a mod would have to be woefully simple, as it would struggle to understand the structure of anything player-built. but it could be used to automate removing items from chests and the like?

I like this decision. I've been enjoying this series from all its perspectives, and I feel like what Grian does with this death is both honorable and also preserves the spirit of hardcore.
It was such great foreshadowing for limited life with grain, Jimmy and Joel going to a woodland mansion.

rewatching this series for a giggle, and just noticed that at 7:40 Grian actually refers to Jimmy as Jim. Rare as emerald in deepslate
And ultimately the lack of chestplate killed him. And once you obtain a totem in a hardcore world it should never leave your off-hand. Just like how golden apples or a god apple should never leave your hotbar.

I think a neat idea would be to make the first base properly "abandoned". Put some cobwebs around, make the copper block pillars fall over in the water, and have the moss overgrow the base. I think it would look really cool and underline that that playthrough is truly over.

@@_CertifiedHoodClassic You can open a LAN world and enable cheats, then all you have to do is switch to creative and then back to survival / hardcore. I don't cheat but after I die in a Hardcore world I use this method to explore what I did in my world.

Grian's reason for always wearing an elytra is that he would jump off a cliff and die if he wore a chestplate.
Grian there's no cliffs in a woodland mansion (to be fair there were 4 vindicators though and they hit like trucks)
To be fair there is no way in hell he could have survived five Vindicators who were all targeting him without using a totem, each of them deal 9.5 hearts worth of damage to a unarmored target and are infamous for their ability to kill even fully armored targets with ease.

You know, Grian could’ve just left the base alone, but instead he had to burn it.
This is tragic but honestly he should have seen it coming. Walking around without a chestplate on in a Woodland Mansion is just a bad idea no matter how good your other equipment is.
Yeah specially if you rush in without looking around 😅
The thing that really gets me is he said if he takes off the elytra he's going to die by jumping off a cliff and expecting it to be on. So he then enters a woodland mansion, a place with absolutely no high cliffs to jump off of.
I'm kind of surprised he didn't do it for the mansion. I can understand that he'd probably kill himself if he wore a chest piece because of how used to an Elytra he is, but when is an Elytra gonna be used in an indoor environment like the woodland mansion?
Edit: I will say though, that is a LOT of damage from the Vindicators with just a stone axe. I get the colour fits their theme but Mojang should at least put the enchanted particle effect over the Vindicators axes if they're gonna have a stone axe 2 shot like that so it at least has the illusion of "hey, this is enchanted, run".

That’s how the bad boys started
So I tested it in a creative world. Grian was at full health, had just eaten a golden carrot and was wearing following gear as seen at 2:05:
- Netherite helmet with no protection or some other protection (blast, fire, projectile) (He couldn't have had normal protection on it - I tested it under the same conditions)
- Elytra
- Netherite leggins with protection IV
- Netherite boots with fire protection IV
He died after 2 hits. If grian was wearing the chestplate (with protection IV) he gave to Jimmy, he would have survived up to 5 hits from the vindicator (including the healing from the nourishment of the golden carrot) and would only have died after the 6th hit.
Moral of the story: A chestplate really makes a difference and would definitely have saved him.

It’s simple: Apparently when you attack a vindicator, they all target YOU in the mansion, so when grian killed the vindicator in the beginning, all the ones on the second floor began to target him so when he went anywhere near the door on the second floor that led to the room where most of the vindicators spawn, the one vindicator was pathfinding to him and it ran through the door creating the fatal blow. The reason only ONE took out Grian is because it will 2 tap you in hard mode if you don’t have a chestplate, and the other vindicators were probably pathfinding to Joel…oops

I got this idea a short while after Grian died. What about a continuous series where there are like 3 content creators in a HC world, and whenever one dies or reaches 100 hours, he/she gets replaced with a new one. Like for example now, Grian could have been replaced with Jimmy, and after Jimmy would die in 2 hours or so, he would be replaced by someone else.
I think this would be quite challenging in terms of getting people to follow it and keep track of it, since most viewers would probably come and go with their favourite youtubers and the videos would just start and stop appearing on various channels. But it could be an intersting concept to try out.

I actually really like this idea of restarting entirely when you die in a hardcore. That makes a lot of sense.. it’s like a new Grian formed on the server. Grain, if you will

I am so relieved this effort isn’t over. I am so invested in you and your friends, working to reach this goal. I’m so relieved you left the villagers alive- it hurts deeply i see people kill villagers, they’re akin to dependent children at best, innocent pets at worst. At their best or worst, they deserve life. I’m so relieved you chose the honorable route And kept the series going, and set an ultimatum for when you can return to your old build. Love it.
