But have you even considered the price that an average Filipino has to sacrifice in order to give you all that comfort with the affordable living condition that you're enjoying? I was born and raised there and chose to try my luck here in the US by joining the Navy. But never once have I thought of asking to be assigned there even if I had the ability to request and get assigned at Subic when the Naval Base was still there. I don't think I could live with myself knowing how much my fellow Filipinos have to suffer in order for me to live in comfort and privilege. If you haven't learned anything about Subic or Olongapo, I'm sure it won't be hard for you to find out what was happening there -- on You Tube or Google -- when the Largest Naval Operation outside the US was still there. And you may want to check out Clark Air Force Base in Angeles City as well. Don't get me wrong though. I'm not implying that it's all entirely the US fault why things were not as pleasant as it should have been while their military bases were still operating there. The Philippine Government, in my opinion, was(actually) entirely to blame for all the misfortunes Filipinos suffered through while those two bases were there. The present Philippines Leader's late father didn't help to make it better either.

I am a Filipino and came here to the USA a few years ago, I am now working as a software engineer part-time and data analyst in the government full-time. While also I love being in the USA while I am still young, I have to agree that the Philippines is still my home and it is incomparable how people care for each other there. Sure sometimes people say "Filipinos have the crab mentality" but that applies everywhere in the world. I love my countryside home in the Philippines. This is also the reason why I am not going to buy a house in the USA; it is almost a scam due to the rate, taxes, and the long-term commitment of 30-40 years while life is too short.
Currently have a side business and will go back to the Philippines when it is time since I am working alone for myself.
Philippines is a kind of therapy for all of the stress, problems, etc... and makes you live even longer. Here in the USA work work work waiting for the weekend lol, and if you do not take care of yourself then you are done.

That's true!, there's always a saying "There's no place like home", we live only once, life is too short, and we are not here to live to earn millions and riches, so enjoy life and live life to the fullest.

Hey Brian. Canadian/Aussie living in Texas here. Great writing, great vid. Love the Pink Floyd reference, one of my favorite songs. Laughed at the bit about Melbourne where I lived for years. Well, I just retired and hoping to spend more time in Vietnam, Thailand and yes, maybe the Philippines. I also will visit France and the UK regularly. No plan to settle in one place though. I’d be on a constant ‘walkabout.’

Living life fully is a real blessing. Glad you’re enjoying your life Brian. Philippines is really a wonderful place. Reap all the benefits, blessings Philippines has to offer. Great people. As in any other place, Philippines have people who are not as fortunate as some of us and are suffering. Hope you share some of your blessings to others. As you’re aware, there’s a lot of ways to do it. Money, food, time, emotional support, prayers, etc. I am so blessed to have Philippines and Filipino genes in my life. I have and will continue to share my blessings. Hope you do it, too. And trust me, you will be more happier and blessed. “Vivi la tua vita al meglio” 😊❤️

One of the reason why Western foriegners are flocking to the Philippines is that living in the Philippines is akin to living in America, Canada or Australia, but a lot cheaper n slower pace of life were they feel safe amongst friendly people....of course there are cultural diffences but these are minor because the Philippines is the most Westernized country in Asia n assimilating to the local culture is a walk in the park...

    • @KyleGiducos

There’s some really solid advice in here. Especially about not waiting for everything to line up perfectly bc it never will. My ex wife was like this actually. She wanted to wait for kids till the stars aligned and we were magically financially secure. Eventually together we made 100k a year and that still wasn’t enough. Now we’re divorced and she’s almost too old to have children and will most likely never have kids bc of her age and hormones etc. but she never even tried and missed out. Then became depressed and changed and blamed me for not being wealthy enough etc (American women…) it’s a shame really. Bc I’m dating the most beautiful women in the world now and she’s probably going to die alone.

You are soo right there Brian! Here in Colorado USA its not affordable like it used to! Everything is sky high inflation is insane, migrants have occupiedall the big cities turning it into a third world countries! Violence, mass shootings its tiring! There is no more American Dream over here, we are not too far from WW111 homelessness are allover the place! I hear people all the time complaining how they can't afford to live anymore, soo many moving back with their parents! Soo many says U.S. is turning into a third world, it's obvious they are going to have a rude awakening! I have live in a third world, but i never called it that because my Country Philippines although there are still alot of poverty there people are very happy not materialistic like here in USA! My Philippines is a beautiful country with lots of different places to see, its up in coming country i always called Philippines a Bless Country because GOD made it soo unique that we can be different from other world! I hope to return back there someday! Iloilo city is my homeland!❤🥰🇵🇭

But make sure you have a steady income if you decided to move. I suggest you visit the Philippines first for a couple of months to have a glimpse of what and where it is that you plan to move to confirm your decision. Know a little bit of the culture and some would be seemingly negative aspects that won’t suit your standard like cost of condo unit rent, wi-fi availability, ease of transportation, traffic and the summer heat. Make sure to make a plan of your expenses so won’t get bankrupt unknowingly.
