That why Jump + is so much better than Shonen Jump, Mangaka don't need to release manga weekly, as most of them release it biweekly which is way better schedule for them. Also I highly recommend Make the Exorcist Fall in Love easily one of the best manga i ever read also from Jump +.
if witch hat atelier's anime adaptation is even half as gorgeous and well-paced as shirahama-sensei's manga, it is going to be SO. POPULAR. qifrey is gonna top all of next year's anime prettyboy lists i'm calling it right now.
I picked it up on a whim, and, yeah... Pretty fucking good You just made me realize qifrey has the potential of having the levi/gojo pretty boy brainrot and i hate you for it 😢
Just started yesterday, I think that if the anime is good (Highly likely) we will have a new big 3 fantasy anime just as Gikkuk predicted. Dungeon Meshi, Frieren, and Witch Hat Atelier. I think you could also make the argument that Mushoku Tensei is in stiff competition with that spot too.
I still can't believe the manga that everyone hyperbolically glazed as a joke actually ended up being a banger, and that the manga about a ghost stealing someone's balls actually has a deep attention to detail and is getting a Science Saru adaptation. What a timeline we live in. Edit: Cancelled manga....poor Mao Mao Yu Yu
Martial Master Asumi and Green Green Greens, man. How do we get not one but TWO well written, deep, character driven sports manga, and they both get axed.
@dracothefemboi4352 It had an amazing first chapter, and the next 2 weren't bad either. It's just that the mamayuyu author planned literally nothing for the story, which led to him just throwing stuff at the wall, hoping it sticks, which didn't go well with readers. I hope he comes back with a new series, though.
HOLY SHTTTT I just started reading DandaDan last night because of this video and.... wow. I havent been this hooked by a manga since the days of Inuyasha and the first Narutos chapters. Thank for you doing the lords work and feeding us hungy subjects lol.
Man's a manga purist, but he would definitely be served better if he let go a bit and just did it in a light novel format. Those past few chapters get quite WORDY. It's not like he's hemorrhaging money. His properties are cashcows and his wife's is an even bigger cow. Keep in mind that the current arc is just a prelude to the Big Revelations (TM) in the Dark Continent.
@@PlamoTherapy the Chimera Ant arc was wordy too but due to the majority of that text being narration or characters internal monologue, it won’t be an issue the way some or making it out to be.
The main draw behind kagurabachi is the relationship betwen chihiro and his dad (who might have been a war criminal) and coming to terms with his murder. I love that While at first it starts as revenge story, chihiro goes further than that and actually start to proactively save people because that's just what he got from being raised by his dad.
I really hope we get story beats where Chihiro really interrogates the morality of his actions, or fights an opponent who is a good person that forces him to do the same.
The main draw for me is how fluid the world is. Events just happen and they don't feel forced, like Sojo, shortly after being introduced to the story, just casually strolls alll the way up to Chihiro's squad, checks him, and they spit some philosophy. And it helps that the character design is *always* fire
With the popularity of Frieren and Dungeon Meshi, along with the potential of Atelier, we may be entering a new era of Shounen, one not focused on battles like previous era or atleast not as its primary focus. Non isekai Fantasy could very well become the next equivalent to mecha and Gundam anime.
Honestly, the only shonen series I can think of that focus on battles are Dragon Ball, Food Wars, and every sports anime. That's it, that's the list. Like... look at the big 3. Only one of them are actually focused on the battles at all. Whether it's One Piece's fights that actively detract from the story, Naruto's insistence on using battles exclusively as a pretense for examining the core of human connection (which it also does non-stop in every other scene as well as the fight scenes)... even with Bleach, fights are just an exploration of the concept of self-actualization primarily through their juxtaposition with times of peace. The point is never the fight. Never the conflict itself. Genuinely, I wonder if manga readers understand manga, in general.
Wouldn't mind that in the least. I think what helps those series be so interesting is how well done the world building is, it makes the setting far more than just an empty stage. I think that's one of the reasons One Piece has had it's staying power.
@dontmisunderstand6041 Finally, people name 2 animes and start saying "this is the start of a new era" jump has never had this before. When in reality jump has always been that way.
@dontmisunderstand6041 hmm idk. it’s all well and good to say that the real focus of a manga is its deeper themes, but 1) that’s rarely what makes it popular and 2) battles are pretty essential to a work’s identity too. on the first point, if the big 3 weren’t battle manga - if fans couldn’t powerscale and rank the best fights and go woaaaah at 2-page spreads or scenes from the anime - there’s no way they would have done as well. they needed that ‘cool’ factor in addition to good story, characters, etc. also, battles aren’t only essential in mainstream shonen for storytelling purposes - cool choreography, cool setups, cool powers, all of those are also defining features of the big 3, mha, jjk, etc. just my 2 cents.
Lured to this video by Dandadan withdrawal, and I just want to say thank you for _finally_ explaining Sakamoto Days to me in a way that makes it sound appealing; I don't know why it was so hard for everyone else.
Dandadan is definitely gonna be the one to beat next season. I've been reading the manga since the start, and from that start it has not stopped cooking. It _refuses_ to stop cooking.
I was reading Dandadan from very early on for a very long time. I dropped it a while back, a bit after the kaiju stuff finished. Just wasn't doing enough for me to stick with it. I get the appeal. It's good. It's not for me. I think that's probably a good thing to give people a head's up on. It doesn't change or get better over time. It just is what it is, and if you don't immediately fall in love with it you never will.
@@dontmisunderstand6041 that's what Kagurabachi is to me. I get the appeal, but its just not enough polish in dialogue section and fights a bit clunky, main char is kind of eh.While Dandandan slaps with details on everything, excepts pants in one chapter before author's break :D characters are fun too.
honestly my favorite thing about Kagura bachi is that Chihiro is a Punisher Pretender he trying to be frank Castle but thats just his facade its contrasted with the fact that hes at heart just a kind naturing guy he’s more caring than truly violent
Yeah, It's a meme sometimes, the "Wake up with fresh hatred" but it's not repeated for no reason. He has to foster that hatred every day to keep the desire to kill and fight because it's just really not who he is. I'm way late to this, but I love everything about it. Down to the main character not having like, an Exploding Flaming Dragon Sword , but rather a cute Koi Fish blade 😭
yesss he’s such a fake hater. and he’s surrounded by a lot of goofy ass people who do genuinely care about him he really needs to make an effort to be edgy
Kagurabachi is the first manga I've read since the first chapter, and my god it was a good one to start on. Seeing it grow, just getting better and better and seeing the tides change when it comes to people's opinions on it has been amazing. The fact an anime has become more of a when question than an if just feels like a testsment to me how much its been popping off. Also instead of a generic popularity poll, you can draw an OC to potentially get offed by Chihiro, so like come on, that's amazing
@@H3rmon861 nah it’s good, maybe not the best, but mid is an overused term and doesn’t fit here. Mid would be more like a series you haven’t heard of but has a decent following. You’ve heard of kagurabachi, it’s popping off hard right now, means it’s literally not mid. I mean did you watch the video at all? Lol
It's a bit more of a seinen, but so far Centuria has been great. It's a mix of Berserk, Vinland saga and To your eternity with gorgeous art and very likeable characters. I really hope people give it a shot, it only has 20 chapters so far but it looks very promising.
its good, i have been reading it since like chapter 5 but i feel like something is missing with it, it just doesnt pull me in as much as it could with its theme and content. i still read it tho. i hope it gets even better with time
You want an upcoming anime that's gonna rock the world Geoff? Oh I'll give you one. Gachiakuta is crazy dark-fantasy battle series getting served with an adaptation from Studio Bones in 2025. The power system is unique and ties into the story beautifully, the characters are weird and super loveable, and the art is absolutely INSANE. I'd definitely recommend giving it a read.
You forgot to mention a few important things: - Kei Urana (the female author of Gachiakuta), worked as an assistant under Atsushi Ohkubo, THAT Ohkubo, the creator of Soul Eater and Fire Force. - Atsushi Ohkubo called her his successor - Gachiakuta can be translates to Real Trash or Garbage, which has so much meme potential.
@@DonBraun-f3yYes. with the vibe you would expect, it feels a bit more roul eater than fire force thou which i thik is easier to hook in. But there is worldbuilding probably . Yes she is
@@Yudaisei0The story thematic, has a lot of trash and garbage, in its worldbuilding Literally. Its a prevalent theme. And interesting magic system where a thing you value that much woth a bit right potential, makes it magical . Favorite toy that you thought can whatever, it might.
Think the next big Shonen trend is the romance subplot not being treated as an afterthought anymore. With how big some romance anime have gotten lately, and how the magazine has been publishing more romance stories, romance plots might become as prevalent in shonen as tournament arcs
I wouldn't mind that if it's handled well. Dandadan works it well I think because while it's definitely part of the story doesn't detract from the actual concept and other characters, at least so far.
Apparently Its just been announced(leaked?) That Shiro Usazaki a.k.a. the Act-Age artist, will return with a New Series with the writer of Iruma-kun and god i hope that will be both good and successfull I miss seeing her art so much
I was finally gonna sit down to read act-age because of it's gorgeous artwork, the same day that the news of it being cancelled because of the author being awful came out... I'm definitely getting in on this new work of the artist though!
Glad to hear Usazaki's coming back! The shameful behavior of their former collaborator was never Usazaki's fault, and that gorgeous artwork is sorely needed in this ugly world.
Geoff you glorious son of a gun, thanks for showing Marriage Toxin some love. I've found as I've gotten older the stuff with a bit more gag than battle to their DNA hits harder for me. Dandadan, Spy x Family and definitely Marriage Toxin are the chapters I look forward to the most nowadays.
You sold me about kagurabachi as soon as you mentioned goldfish-powered sword. I wanted to be an ichthyologist when I was little, and fish (especially goldfish) hold such a dear place in my heart. Many people think of goldfish as weak/dying easily, but under proper care they have a life expectancy of 10-20 years. If you make goldfish badass, I’m going to love your story.
It is really great. People thought Chihiro would be this edgelord but when he's not facing the yakuza or evil government officials to essentially do his job of securing the swords he is literally taking members of his ne wfound family out for ice cream or hanging out with them. He's an unusually quiet, not super talkative protagonist and I like it. You learn a lot about his personality by the people he attracts and how he cares for them (just like how he cares for the goldfish). Yes, he's angry about what happened to his dad but mostly he cares about people in general and really, really doesn't want the WMD his dad created killing innocents.
I’m so glad you talked about choujin X at least a bit in this video. It truly feels like the perfect next step for ishida, with him seemingly taking everything he learned from Tokyo ghoul and applying it to Choujin X. I’ve also felt the art in general doesn’t feel as cluttered as it sometimes did in Tokyo ghoul even with those insanely detailed panel spreads that ishida does. I really hope it gets an adaptation and that the adaptation brings more people to the series!!
I'm really hoping Dandadan takes off. I'm hoping for Mob Psycho 100 levels of notoriety. However, if it reaches MHA or JJK levels I will probably cry happy tears. I've been reading it for over two years now and it's one of my favorite ongoing manga and manga in general.
Started reading Dandadan at your recommendation and holy cow, its crazy and im loving it. I remember you also talked about it in a vid about upcoming manga to look out for years back that turned out to be curse. Glad this one made it.
Sakamoto Days has become so widely known for its action that it’s hard to remember sometimes that it was initially more of a gag manga. I wonder how seeing those early chapters animated is gonna go…
I love Sakamoto Days for it's comedy, but also the creative choreography of the action. The turkish ice cream stand from a couple of weeks ago had me in tears. The only thing about Sakamoto Days is that alot of the characters are kinda tough to tell apart sometimes
The thing is, I think the comedy will still land. It never really left, it just got absorbed into the action a lot more. Like, Kamihate going to the movies, the Turkish ice cream, the gambler he was fighting a few chapters ago just in his entirety. The action is the gags in a way
I kinda miss that part too like it's great rn but i had an absolute blast with the comedy on the early parts like lu drunken style fighting i miss that
It’s crazy. I started most of these in high school and now 8 years later they are either coming to a close or have ended. I think Sakamoto, Kagurabachi, and DanDaDan are gonna do good in their place.
So weird how it a story about a girl becoming a rakugoka, and it's one of the most popular in WSJ with just the coming of age story, and the art put into telling rakugo stories
I follow pretty much everything to some extent or another and it's easily one of my favorites. It hits so many great notes about that time in a young adult's life while also showing a lot about Japanese culture. The recent chapter which was just a basic shopping trip hit me on such a deep and profound level.
It has no anime announced IIRC, but Magus of the Library feels like it fits super nicely in with Witch Hat Atelier and Frieren as a fantasy story. It follows a Haupi/Hyron (essentially half-elf while the elves were nearly exterminated by the humans) boy named Theo who wants to work as a Kafna (librarian) in the Central Library, which controls and distributes books and other texts across the continent
@@warfeest the character writing is top notch, you really come to understand these people and their little foibles. Also if you're not reading Akane-banashi you should start. They are really fun reads!
@@warfeest It's character writing is super top tier, especially the villain. The first arc villain, Sojo, is so damn charismatic, Japanese people actually compares him to Zabuza in Naruto while Western fans keep glazing him till today. Just when people thought the author cannot cook a better villain after Sojo, he wrote Kyora for 2nd arc villain. Unlike Sojo, Kyora is non fighter and is more of a businessman than a true villain, which makes him super interesting as he navigates against Chihiro without any powers other than his family bodyguards with 4d chess play. And what's even better is the author knows how to show, don't tell. He puts a lot of symbolism and treat his readers to be intelligent enough to understand the bits that he left and piece them altogether.
Gachiakuta It’s got a great power system that is both flavorful and used to develop characters Fantastic world building that leaves you asking questions A distinct art style that feels like a fusion of Atsushi Okubo and Ken Wakui Creatively choreographed fight scenes that are always fun to read And an adaptation in the works by Studio BONES
Next year's Gachiakuta from kodansha (animated by bones) is probably going to hit it really big, its battle systems is insane, its art is insane, its characters are insane, its worldbuilding is insane. For me it has some of the best moments I have ever read in manga.
I'm glad that others feel it has the out there coming of age aspects more fully realized from og FLCL. Like its seems to be fully realized ultra polished and I love it lol
It's not a Jump manga, but regardless: It's so sad that the thing that's probably going to hold back Yomi no Tsugai, which otherwise looks like exactly what Fullmetal Alchemist fans have been hoping for for a decade, is the fact that its official translated title is so generic you'd assume that ChatGPT came up with it.
Me just hoping Dogsred gets popular enough to get an anime. Ice Hockey is the perfect anime sport and I am surprised it wasn't capitalised on earlier. Edit: NO WAY HE MENTIONED IT.
As a Swede it's something i've always wanted but never thought we'd ever get... And hearing it was from the author of GOLDEN FACKING KAMUY made we want to go immeaditly go and read it.
I never once understood the memeing of Kagurabachi. From chapter 1, it felt like something with crazy potential. Happy that people finally stopped worrying about farming impressions online and actually read the series.
The memeing came from even _before_ the first chapter, just from the promotional art and blurb. People saw something that looked like it would be some kind of edgy revenge story featuring a katana-wielding brooding teenager in a black coat and ran with it. Then chapter one had that "every morning I wake up with fresh hatred" like that was extremely memeable too. One of the most pleasant surprises of the actual story was finding out that Chihiro in fact is not a brooding Sasuke clone hellbent on revenge but quite a sensible character, a great trade-off between being empathetic and moral and not being a complete doormat unwilling to ever kill even when faced with absolute monsters who are trying to do horrible things.
I think that Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint and Lord of the Mysteries are gonna be big. They are considered to be one of the best webnovels ever, so I hope the adaptation doesn't screw them up.
I feel like the future of Jump is in a good place. Jump+ in particular. Kindergarten Wars, Centuria, and Gokurakugai have been really thrilling reads so far.
It's not a Jump series but Gachiakuta is one I've been reading for a a while now and it's absolutely fantastic. The art style and action are on par with many of the best series that Jump offers, and they secured Studio Bones for the anime adaptation coming next year so I'm expecting good things there too. Also we love to see the Marriagetoxin and Choujin X shoutouts. Great taste.
But one piece is almost over. Egghead shows that it’s clearly getting into its final chapters. We need to brace ourselves we only have like 10-15 years left.
Getting an anime in the fall thought Amazon got the streaming rights I hope it another situation like that deer anime and it just gets licensed everywhere
It's really good, but I doubt it'll get mainstream, considering the popularity of magical girl anime these days is fairly low compared to standard shonen
I am worried about how the anime is gonna turn out but if it's faithful then it's absolutely banger hit material like... a workplace action-comedy about working as a magical girl with a ton of interesting worldbuilding AND an anti-capitalism lean? There's something for everyone to latch onto
I really like that this video points out Kagurabachi's trust in the reader to figure things out. It's really refreshing to see a lot of groundwork laid out, figure things out, then see new details softly confirm or recontextualize what's on the table. It also shows a lot of confidence on Hokazono's part, it's great.
Kindergarten wars is another manga series I think has massive potential to be the next big jump anime! If you haven’t read it yet, you definitely should. It’s great. It’s essentially like little monsters meets the suicide squad.
I've been reading the new series "Drunk Bullet" that's in Jump+, and while it's only 10 chapters in so far, I think it has potential. WW1 veteran who's been dying for a drink returns to the US in the middle of Prohibition, and shenanigans ensue as he goes on a quest to get some booze.
We gotta talk about Akane Banashi, one of the most creative battle manga out there, don’t get me started on the peak that is Sakamoto Days or The Darwin Incident. I need to get into Kagurabachi
Great video, Geoff! I really like your anime comparison tags (e.g. Blue Box = Haikyuu + Horiyima) cause they help me a lot with friend anime recommendations. :)
Would be excited to see your more in-depth thoughts of Black Clover (specifically the manga) as it slowly approaches its ending. Story has been wrapping up really neatly, and Tabta has been taking advantage of the switch to a seasonal release to genuinely make this final arc the best it can be.
Been a fan of yours for years, and i absolutely adore when you talk about manga, your recommendations are always great! Would love to see more and more.
Thank you SO MUCH for covering Yokazura Family. I can defintiely see why people pass it off, but it is one of the most consistently charming and funny mangas I have ever read that never loses its identity yet continues to surrpise with its humor. I really hope over time it can continue to grow.
I watched Undead Unluck and had a lot, A LOT, of criticisms, but something kept me watching. It's incredible how everysingle problem i had is dealt with masterfully as the story goes on. Right now it's my favorite ongoing manga
So, the other thing about Kaiju No 8 that will keep it from getting crazy big - it's ALSO supposedly in its final chapters. And considering that they're fighting what has been built up as the final boss, well... I wouldn't be surprised if it's over this time next year....
I'm excited to see where Gokurakugai goes personally! The art is incredible (or are just all the characters hot?) and it just has that sweet shonen tone that manages to be interesting but doesn't take itself too seriously. I'm happy for the mangaka it seems to be a monthly one, but it makes keeping up with it much harder
YESSSSSS!!!!! Gokurakugai is insane!!!! I‘m usually more of a comedy guy (Super Psychic Policeman Chojo my beloved) but Gokurakugai swept me off my feet
Undead Unluck (if they do it right) should quite literally blow up with Season 2 should it get one. I know it's getting the OVA this winter which is hype, but man Season 2 will be absolutely insane.
MB: Kagurabachi‘s good actually! Me: Ew, popular thing bad, and you're not gonna change my mind- MB: Fish powered sword Me: *That one photo of an astonished black dude* (I’m putting it in my “planning to read” list where it will stay unread for months)
I've never read Kagurabachi but I'm desperate for it to reach Big 3 levels of international fame and success because I remember the "save me fujos" era of its first few chapters, where fans were trying to commission gay fanart in hopes of queerbaiting people into reading it and saving it from the chopping block
@@marinhaalternativa3829Oh it’s not hidden, KB was part of a “Next Wave” push of which it’s the only still running manga, so the fandom was understandably worried it was gonna get axed. When fanart shipping the male characters started popping up, hope was renewed, and loud proclamations that it was your civil duty to draw as many guys kissing as needed to save the manga followed
Lol when it came out i called it a demon slayer knock off n got shitted on heavily even when i did read it up to idk how many more chapters before dropping it n getting bored
Geoff your way of describing anime and manga is so full of passion and it's so clear that you know what you're talking about, that I can't count on one hand the amount of times you've talked about an IP and I audibly responded "Alright FINE, I'll fucking read/watch it"
Dandandan was a manga I read since day one. After CSM Part 1 ended on my birthday and I heard the news of his apprentice making his own series, I made sure I was there the day it dropped. Never thought a batshit manga like that would come so far tbh.
I know this video is about Shonen Jump but honestly I can't wait for Daemons of the Shadow Realm to get an anime adaptation. It's by Hiromu Arakawa (She made Full Metal Alchemist) and it's a fantastic series. I know that some people are turned off by the english translation of the name because it sounds generic, but trust me this series is fantastic. Fun characters, good plot, great art, etc. Also Centuria is *fantastic*. You know how it's insane how heavily detailed Dandadan is because it's a weekly release? Same thing with Centuria. It just got up to chapter 20 this week so it's still fairly new, but this is definitely a series you want to jump on early. Magilumiere Co. Ltd. is also really good, but I'm not going to hold my breath on the anime adaptation. It looks like it's going to heavily use CGI (Can't blame them) but the kind I saw in the trailer doesn't seem like it meshes well with the 2D aspects. However, I'm very open to being proven wrong and will be ecstatic if the CG stuff is done properly.
FINALLY someone else mentioned Centuria! I'm so happy how that series has improved and developed in the past several chapters. All three you mentioned are great (Daemons is so heavily slept on it makes me sad IT DESERVES ALL THE PRAISE AND LOVE), but Centuria's the one I'm really holding out for.
@@Rajun008 I think Centuria is going to get more traction the longer it goes on. It's probably going to be a big hit for fans of Chainsawman, Beserk, and Hell's Paradise once it circulates more. I'm not too particularly worried since some series get to 50 or 100 chapters before gaining a large fanbase in english speaking countries (Which I think is what happened with Dandadan and Undead Unluck). If it ends up with an anime adaptation it'll probably get an extra boost in popularity, but we're still a *long* ways away from an anime. With Daemons of the Shadow Realm, I think it's going to be one of those things that completely flies under the radar until it gets an anime adaptation. Since the author created a series that still has a very dedicated fanbase 20 years out, I don't imagine her current series getting canceled anytime soon, and there's already some talk of an anime adaptation coming in the next year or two so I can only imagine it's doing better in Japan than it is here. While I want other people to get into it, I'm not particularly worried that the series is going anywhere.
I’m under no illusion that it will be Jumps next big hit, but Make the Exorcist Fall in Love is such a treasure. The art is phenomenal and the action scenes are breathtaking
No/Name by Rafal Jaki (Cyberpunk Edgerunners) and drawn by MACHINE GAMU is the first manga created by non-japanese for shounen jump + and is ranking with 4 chapters out above heavy hitters like Sakamoto Days or Dandadan on Shueishas mangaplus. Super dope cop/detective story in a modern fantasy setting with some more mature protagonists and a heavy hitting first chapter. Highly recommend
Ngl, Shueisha changes the anime/manga scene BUT Kodansha changes pop culture itself. Their hits are a dime a dozen but man when they hit, they *REALLY* hit.
It literally just started with 9 chapters out rn, but I'm putting some of my stocks into Ultimate Exorcist Kiyoshi. It has a really cool style that's like Soul Eater mixed with One Piece, and the characters are all really charming and it has a good heart. It seems to be doing decently well too. Maybe it won't be the biggest hugest new thing, but I can see it sticking around. If that does happen, know I was here day one !
I’m betting on Centuria. It’s really good. The art is excellent. There are a lot of crazy lovecraftIan horror elements, with the gods themselves being against humanity, but those elements contrast a tender story about the value of life and relationships. And yes, it is kinda like berserk
NoidoDev spoilers You know how it goes. You’re in the middle of a bunch of slaves at sea to collect their insurance. But suddenly, you feel a malevolent presence. @jishthefish9716 I thought i was the only one who noticed. His hands are huge in some panels for no reason. I love the series but it just takes me out when he suddenly appears with giant grabbers.
Hey yo man. As someone who no longer has time to research new/up and coming manga, I really appreciate you taking the time to make vids like this. Appreciate you.
One jump manga I think (and desperately hope) is gonna get big is Gokurakugai. You've already got people praising it left and right, and rightly so! The character designs are gorgeous and varied, the characters themselves compelling and multi-facetted, the panel layout creative (utilising that same "pop-out-of-the-panel" style, and one time a sword slash even cuts a speech bubble in half), and the art. Oh boy, the ART! Yuto Sano's art style is crisp and recognisable and so cool. It makes me want to take a bite of his art and chew it. Granted this manga is monthly instead of weekly, but looking at how debilitating a weekly schedule is to almost every manga author subject to it, i think that's for the best.
I know, sometimes i'm scared that if this guy ever makes a 10 hour youtube video i won't be able to stop and watch it at work and get fired. Love you man, thank you so much for these amazing videos that actually keeps my sanity alive with quality anime and manga :D
The flashbacks used in the anime really did slow down its momentum because the manga is just SO GOOD. I literally could not put it down and pulled an all nighter catching up with the series. I really wish more people would check it out. Fuko is a god tier character.
From jump +: Kindergarten wars is also really good. It deserves much more attention. Make the exorcist fall in love is quite unique and interesting. You and I are polar opposites is one of the best rom com in jump right now and the same could be said for blooming love even though I personally prefer the former.

Thats the same thing I'm predicting with Witch Hat Atelier, hopefully it happens. Qifrey is already my favorite and maybe he'll be the next Gojo?

@dracothefemboi4352 It had an amazing first chapter, and the next 2 weren't bad either. It's just that the mamayuyu author planned literally nothing for the story, which led to him just throwing stuff at the wall, hoping it sticks, which didn't go well with readers.

I really hope we get story beats where Chihiro really interrogates the morality of his actions, or fights an opponent who is a good person that forces him to do the same.
after the auction arc there aint no way his dad is in heaven
@@therandomvideoman111 he created the in universe equivalent of nukes but they ended a seemingly cataclysmic war.
He's at most in purgatory.
The main draw for me is how fluid the world is. Events just happen and they don't feel forced, like Sojo, shortly after being introduced to the story, just casually strolls alll the way up to Chihiro's squad, checks him, and they spit some philosophy. And it helps that the character design is *always* fire
Fun fact: Kagurabachi just started a fan contest where the winner gets their OC oneshot by the protagonist in the manga
wooooahhh I wish I could participate
How do you enter?
@circularnectarine1439 thanks!!
Genuinely, I wonder if manga readers understand manga, in general.
great point, these and csm (which has kind of gone way beyond just being a battle manga) are the only shows I hear anybody talking about these days

Kagurabachi is the first manga I've read since the first chapter, and my god it was a good one to start on. Seeing it grow, just getting better and better and seeing the tides change when it comes to people's opinions on it has been amazing.
Have you read it now? If yes, would love to hear your thoughts, because I can testify that hokazono absolutely knows how to cook
I’m so glad you talked about choujin X at least a bit in this video.

I never once understood the memeing of Kagurabachi. From chapter 1, it felt like something with crazy potential. Happy that people finally stopped worrying about farming impressions online and actually read the series.
Iirc a lot of the memes came from how generic the first chapter looked when it first got leaked (but before it actually released)
I suspect the meme was started by a time traveler who knew how big it was going to be.

Same here it's got such great art and the villains got me hype
When people see tao, there will yet another explosion of mommy appreciators
YESSSSSS!!!!! Gokurakugai is insane!!!! I‘m usually more of a comedy guy (Super Psychic Policeman Chojo my beloved) but Gokurakugai swept me off my feet
Undead Unluck (if they do it right) should quite literally blow up with Season 2 should it get one. I know it's getting the OVA this winter which is hype, but man Season 2 will be absolutely insane.
Thanks for the Marriage Toxin mention. I'm not caught up because I'm savoring the ride as I discovered the manga a month or so ago and adore it.
Ok, let’s see if Geoff is cursed. Last time he talked about current Shonen jump manga, half of them went through insane trouble.
MB: Kagurabachi‘s good actually!
Me: Ew, popular thing bad, and you're not gonna change my mind-
MB: Fish powered sword
Me: *That one photo of an astonished black dude* (I’m putting it in my “planning to read” list where it will stay unread for months)
I've never read Kagurabachi but I'm desperate for it to reach Big 3 levels of international fame and success because I remember the "save me fujos" era of its first few chapters, where fans were trying to commission gay fanart in hopes of queerbaiting people into reading it and saving it from the chopping block
@@andrewcapra7153what even is this dark hidden lore?
@@marinhaalternativa3829Oh it’s not hidden, KB was part of a “Next Wave” push of which it’s the only still running manga, so the fandom was understandably worried it was gonna get axed. When fanart shipping the male characters started popping up, hope was renewed, and loud proclamations that it was your civil duty to draw as many guys kissing as needed to save the manga followed
Lol when it came out i called it a demon slayer knock off n got shitted on heavily even when i did read it up to idk how many more chapters before dropping it n getting bored
@@Reqqqqqs Oh boy, this hits different after Uruha showed up
BUT WHAT ABOUT KINDERGARDEN WARS THAT SHIT SLAPS MAN
BASED
Is that on Shonen jump?
@@Quocity to be fair I have no idea but it's a great shounen series
@@Quocity It's in Jump+
Another banger video, you had me at the Not like us reference to the.
@@Rajun008
I think Centuria is going to get more traction the longer it goes on.
How does it go after the 1st chapter? I tried it and couldn't get into it. I wasn't really vibing with the MC. But willing to pick it up again!
I’m betting on Centuria. It’s really good.
The art is excellent. There are a lot of crazy lovecraftIan horror elements, with the gods themselves being against humanity, but those elements contrast a tender story about the value of life and relationships.
And yes, it is kinda like berserk
Also, while it’s not nearly as popular and might get axed, I love Goze Hotaru.
I was hoping someone would mention Centuria! This series has made my heart hurt a lot, therefore a winner in my book lol
More Lovecraft. Finally.
NoidoDev spoilers
You know how it goes. You’re in the middle of a bunch of slaves at sea to collect their insurance. But suddenly, you feel a malevolent presence. You realize you can’t move your body, and before you know it tentacles start coming out of the water. The tentacles somehow form into a humanoid shape, and it tells your remaining slaves they’ve completed the first part of making a contract
Missed Centuria, feels like a spiritual successor to Berserk with the Dark fantasy and immaculate art.
The art is good but is it just me or is the protagonists hands like weirdly big?
And while it’s only 20 chapters in, it’s had the strongest performance on Manga Plus of any new series since probably Kagurabachi.
@jishthefish9716 I thought i was the only one who noticed. His hands are huge in some panels for no reason. I love the series but it just takes me out when he suddenly appears with giant grabbers.
@@ZetroFox9274 every time he’s holding the baby it looks wrong. Like did he mutate after getting the curse powers.
@@jishthefish9716I’m guessing the big hands are a stylistic choice. Not a huge fan of them myself, otherwise I think the art is gorgeous.
I’ve been looking for more manga to read and your videos help me find good content! Thanks for helping us keep up to date!!!!
Hey yo man. As someone who no longer has time to research new/up and coming manga, I really appreciate you taking the time to make vids like this. Appreciate you.
Me, a Black Clover fan, just happy it got a passing mention
Tbh if Asta screamed less in the anime I think more people would like it...
You know he cooked with this one when even Dogsred got a mention
I just know whenever Witch Hat Atelier comes out it's gonna pop off, It's absolutely fantastic!!!!!!!!!
Undead Unluck is absolutely amazing. It's such a shame it's nor more well known...
@@carlosbaldellou Couldn't agree more with this sentiment 👏
It really is, but at the same time I get why. The intro is so shaky, but once it gets its legs under it, it’s so damn solid.
Love the manga and the adaptation. My only nitpick when it comes to anime is that flashbacks sometimes felt superfluous long
The flashbacks used in the anime really did slow down its momentum because the manga is just SO GOOD. I literally could not put it down and pulled an all nighter catching up with the series.
I really wish more people would check it out.
Fuko is a god tier character.
The problem with undead unluck is the manga is in its final stretch too
From jump +: Kindergarten wars is also really good.
It deserves much more attention.
Make the exorcist fall in love is quite unique and interesting.
You and I are polar opposites is one of the best rom com in jump right now and the same could be said for blooming love even though I personally prefer the former.
I greatly anticipate your upcoming Cancelled SJ Projects video! I'm sure it's gonna be great!!!
