Not quite wild ending territory, but close. Do you guys think that Coastal Carolina recovered the ball in bounds?
Yep in bounds
Was definitely in bounds
It's close, but either way, what an effort.
Yeah
Looked good to me
Love the random Tuesday night games
I’m all for random weekday games
I asked OP about this in a different video! He surprised me with this game being on his radar AHEAD OF TIME. 100% respect
@OP, is there any more weekday game you will be covering this season?
That block the QB made on the game winning drive for a first down was awesome! Also the running back having the smarts to go down rather that scoring a td with 54 seconds left was a real heads up and selfless play. Ooooh, and the fumble recovery itself was phenomenal! That’s some awesome team-play… Well deserved win!!
He took out 2 players.
Came here to say this. Buy that man some drinks.
Running back having the smarts to go down? You only go down if you’re winning, otherwise you score a touchdown. If the kick was blocked, bad snap or missed, you’d be talking about how dumb the back is for going down.
I disagree. It could go either way. You're either relying on your defense to not give up another score in the next minute, or you go down like he did and you are relying on your special teams to perform. Either way things could go wrong, but I like the choice to go down and end the game right there. Lets say he scored the touchdown and they missed the pat, or the other team scores quick and makes a 2 point conversion. Anything could happen in between obviously, but I like the call to go down and end it on a field goal. Worst case scenerio the game goes to OT. @@Mosin_4_Life
2:10 oh my lord that block by the QB 👀
Easily the BEST football play of the game, so pure
actual god level block lol
@@malafazzle7966 Good thing he didn't make much contact because that would have been a penalty for blindside block. You can't block backwards like that anymore.
Grayson is a DOGG
Best block by a qb i think I've ever seen. Did not look blindside to me.
That running back had one of the best team oriented IQ plays I've seen in awhile. To slide down at the 1 is so smart. You gotta feel for App State defense when they got the previous stop they mustve been at their limit and to watch their offense fumble it right back took all the air out of that balloon.
I thought he was gonna pull a Gurley and inadvertently score a TD. 😂😂
Yes very nice and unselfish move by the player however they should’ve taken the guaranteed 7 for that situation. Go up by 7 and make them run the length of the field with 50 seconds left. App Offense wasn’t having a good game so I’d rather take my chances on D rather then risk something go wrong with the FG. So many things can go wrong with a field goal as we just saw it BARELY go in by a few centimeters. Just very lucky that it didn’t happen to miss because if it did everybody would be saying the complete opposite right now about that slide.
Check out the responses to a similar comment. The consensus was that you take the easy touchdown.
The game was tied. You score the TD there to go ahead. There is no guarantee that the field goal attempt will be good. He had a TD.
What a recovery by the defense on that fumble!
I don't think I've ever seen an App State team this "mid" before. They're usually almost always very, very good so seeing them not perform all that well is quite surprising.
Me with SDSU this year : (
And boise st while you're at it
MWC is air force, wyoming and then fresno
You must have missed last year. App State was 6-6.
Coach is not that great, hired a former player instead of somebody looking for an opportunity
@@67L48Exactly. They've been a tailspin of mediocrity since the James Madison 4th quarter comeback last year.
No fair using the insult "mid" unless you follow it up w/ a massive grin & say "Darby Allin, I'm gonna pin you with a SIDE HEADLOCK TAKEOVER."
Props to that Coastal running back for sliding at the one yard line to let the field goal unit put the game away rather than take that TD and give App St a chance at a possible comeback
EDIT: Holy cow, I did not expect this comment to get over 100 likes, I appreciate it. But I also did not expect more than half the replies to be those disagreeing with my opinion, saying that the RB taking the TD would’ve been the better choice.
Okay, while people are entitled to their opinion, I’m going to explain why I think sliding just shy of the end zone was the better choice in my opinion:
1) Coastal has never beaten App on the road before, plus they needed this win to keep their hopes of going the SBC championship alive, so this move was to prevent App from getting the ball back letting this be final drive of the game, and it ending with a win.
2) I get it, a FG is never guaranteed. Possible scenarios are the kicker would’ve missed or the kick would’ve been blocked; worst case scenario it gets blocked, picked up by App and taken to the house for a scoop & score. But there comes a time where you have to rely on your kicker to win games, and should any of the first two scenarios occur and the game gets sent to OT; at least App doesn’t have momentum heading into OT. The UNC game is a good example.
3) I also get it, if the Coastal RB took the TD, they would have to rely on their defense to keep App out of the end zone. And maybe Coastal’s defense had a better chance of stopping App’s offense than their kicker did at getting the FG. However; App has proven at least twice this season that they can get to the end zone in less than a minute, not to mention they still had two timeouts. This was a situation where Coastal couldn’t risk giving the ball back to App and give them a chance to either tie the game or go for the win because there was also no guarantee they win in OT. Example? Super Bowl LVII. (I guess we should be shunning Chiefs RB Jerrick McKinnon for being an inspiration lol)
You’re entitled to your opinion and I’m entitled to mine, say what you will about it; but at the end of the day, the RB decided to do what he thought would be the better choice and it paid off in the end, a win is a win. Good day!
Seriously smart play by the RB
Yup. Unselfish play. Hoping that if he has any chance at nfl scouts look at that
Took a lot of guts to do that
And his kicker ended up just barely making a 24 yarder... I'll take the guaranteed 6 points thanks
I agree. There are so many things that can go wrong by NOT taking the easy touchdown.@@BertPaulson
2:05 QB takes the snap.
2:11 QB blocks 2 guys at once.
Coastal’s QB stepping up and making a MASSIVE block at 2:07 was dangerous but impressive and made me a fan of Coastal, even if they beat my region’s rep APP 😂
Absolutely brilliant for the runner to go down at the 1
boy pullin out he madden moves!
Yes very nice and unselfish move by the player however they should’ve taken the guaranteed 7 for that situation. Go up by 7 and make them run the length of the field with 50 seconds left. I'm convinced that every App state game is just insane.
Sun Belt Fun Belt, baby!
agreed, but unlike previous years App State doesn't win as many of them :(
Props to the qb for blocking for his running back at 2:10. Turned no gain into a big play
Its gonna be hard for the guy who fumbled to go to sleep tonight
that Coastal Carolina RB needs to be shown as a highlight to every high school/jr high school football program of what it means to play smart and unselfish. Gave up a TD/stats for the better of his team. Don't see that very often these days.
It’s so funny to see that App State can beat absolutely any team and can lose to absolutely any team
What's even more impressive is how the QB played during the two runs at 1:35 and 2:05. At 1:35, he's running with the ball carrier behind him, ready to bounce on a potential fumble. And then the crucial block at 2:05 to take out TWO defenders. Smart kid.
EDIT: And now that I watch the whole clip, that was very smart of the RB to go down at the endzone and not score. Seems like a really well prepared team!
That kicker had to think "oh s**t" for a quick second when he hit that kick. 😅
I wouldn't have been able to reverse the call.
2:10 great block
As a coastal Carolina and app state fan I see this as a absolute win and loss
Jesus christ
U ppl will say anything to make this comment on every video ever
As a ______ I see this as an absolute win is the worse comment currently
Funny how that works, isn't it?
How do you manage to like 2 G5 teams? Did you attend both colleges or have family and friends?
Must've been a tough day lmao.
@@Stopcommentingthesamecommentsit’s just the robots and NPCs of society that do that. Very bizarre world nowadays
You absolutely can not be both
2:10 QB laid out for that block. Love to see that winning mentality, putting it out there for the team
I suspect that Coastal watched film from last year's App State and UNC game because they were smart in running down the clock to put the game away.
Dude went down at the half yard line 👀
A real heads-up play, good on him for knowing the situation
I don't care how anyone will try to explain it, but sliding down on the 1 yard line to burn more time was a very serious risk.
Yeah, a weird combination of smart and risky. College being college, you can easily imagine a botched snap or shanked FG. But I guess you trust your team to execute.
Especially with only 50 seconds left being up by 7 against a team that’s been having a very hard time on offense all game.
Abraham T'Money III? That's quite the official title. More importantly, how about McCall, the QB, taking out TWO defenders at 2:09. What an effin' block!
You aren't allowed to block backwards like that anymore. Penalty for blindside block if he had made "forcible contact", 15 yard penalty. Good thing it wasn't much contact.
@@elijahfoster2He pushed on the front of the 1st defenders chest pads... definitely wasn't a blindside block.
His nickname can be "$5 Bill". Okay, I'll see myself out the door...
Literally gave the game away with that fumble too
Refs gave the game away
coastal def deserved to win this game. glad they did
It's SO painful to watch, especially when two years ago we beat them under similar circumstances and I myself got to storm the field. Ever since Coastal and Marshall joined the conference, App State's dominance over the Sun Belt evaporated seemingly overnight.
That was fantastic clock management.
Honestly great call by the ref
Na
@@elijah7672Lol it was a great call and he literally recovered it. 0:53 but I’m sure you know more then the referees and announcers
Remember when App state beat michigan?? Lol that was amazing
Wow that's going back! Like 07-08 maybe?
this game is/was the only game this season where Grayson McCall looked like Grayson McCall
App State makes teams look good this year.
App State try to have a normal game challenge: Impossible
seriously must be fun to be an app state fan, all their games some crazy stuff happens it feels like lol
As a student, our football program has caused me immense emotional stress since arriving 2 years ago. But like it’s so addicting to watch 😂
Similar fumble recovery inbounds save to what the Niners did a few days ago
And when it's that close, you have to go with the ruling on the field.
@@AEMoreira81it was close but you can clearly stop it at 0:53 maybe even 0:52 and see it was the correct call. Just a very close one

Epic ending for CC!
U!
When Coastal got the ball back, they just wanted it more. Props to the Chaucerian Cluckers.
I know everyone is focused on the turnover and what happened after, but can I ask what the actual hell was coastal Carolina thinking going for it on 4th down at the beginning of the video? Kick the goddamn field goal you sociopaths, there’s 5 minutes left in the game!
Miami: hold my fumble
Nice Block by the Coastal quarterback with 1:13 left on the clock!!
I won't give Coastal any credit. They get lucky and this is an example.
Ouch... another heartbreaker for App State.
That's a crappy way to lose. But App State loves them some exciting endings.
I love that after a review will say either it stand or it's confirmed. Confirmed means that they reviewed it and that they saw that the call was clearly correct. Saying it stands means that it could go either way but there's not enough evidence to overturn it.
At least that tells the crowd that the evidence is inconclusive.
@@AEMoreira81I’m hoping that either of you actually watched the game live? The other live TV angle shows very clearly he had both feet in bounds when he recovers the ball and the announcers even fully agreed with the call. No doubt it was very very close but he did indeed get that fumble.
What CCU did is against the rules regarding unsportsmanlike conduct per SEC rules.
cost me three different bets, thanks app state
Tuesday College Football Never Disappoint
That was some fucking atrocious football right there, but Beasley on Coastal Carolina is really good. This play at 2:05 was completely dead but he turned it into a double digit gain and 1st down in a clutch moment anyway
looking at the play in slomo its barely possible he recovered in bounds. a very small window between when he approached the ball and slid out of bounds. nothing showed when he recovered.
McCall seems like he's been at Coastal forever
Well that's one way to win a game.
Did they not teach u to protect the ball? 3 defenders behind u, u don’t need to score hold that ball with 2 hands, also Coastal goin down at the 1 was smart football
1:08 “Real Madrid defeats Mavericks…” Chyron was having a rough time.
I don't know the rule, are crackback blocks illegal like in the NFL? If so, that's a big missed call at 2:10.
No mountain magic for App St this year.
I was watching this (yes a Tuesday night game 😊)

Love my Neers but this loss was completely deserved.
Beasley almost pulled a Gurley... 😂😂

yeah im 100% sure he didnt possess that ball until he was out of bounds.
Impressive. Glad it worked out for them. If the Ravens did that, Lamar would fumble
on the next play.
Appalachian State playing a normal football game challenge (impossible)
You got that right
Why tf would they go for that
i’m sayin 🤣 made no sense but it worked out
Did you see their defense? They were about to get scored on like swiss cheese if it wasn't for that fumble. Also the kicker almost missed the game winner. Might as well go for 7 instead of 3 since both are just as risky.
@@elijahfoster2 I get it but man they got that little faith in the kicker 😭
@@AceWillliams It's more their defense I'm almost certain. It's no different than going for 2 when you could kick the PAT. Here if they go for the FG, it likely goes to overtime.
@@elijahfoster2 99% of teams would kick that field goal especially with 4 minutes left dude cmon
No way that was recovered inbounds. Terrible call.
Does anyone remember Grayson McCall from the fever dream 2020 or was that just me😂
Can App State go 1 game without being involved in some crazy ass finish?
Bad call. Out of bounds. Oh well, it's happened before, and it will happen again -- to YOUR team. NOTE: I'm not an App St fan, FYI.
I love App State
I was at that game
That fumble was not recovered in bounds.
I watched this in super slo-mo speed. That guy was already sliding out of bounds when he finally got control of the ball. But ultimately not diehard proof to see the ball still moving around as he was sliding. Carolina got away with that one.
Definitely not. That was a clean fumble and if you watched the game live they showed several different angles. If the refs knew it wasn’t a fumble they would’ve overturned it. The other live angle on TV showed it perfectly how he has full control of the ball with 2 feet in bounds before he slides out. Very very close though.
Even at 0:53 in slow motion you clearly see he’s got the ball. And he starts sliding way before he’s out of bounds. Not even a question about it. You said you watched it in super slo mo so you should see. His right hands under the ball full control before he slides out at the last millisecond then he rolls over and you see the control.
App State normally gives these out out. Kind of nice to see the humbling.
nooooooooooooooo

That was questionable.
The announcer saying he couldn’t have recovered it in bounds is wild
wild like a bearshit in the woods.
He didn't say that. He said it looked like it.
It was really close. This is also a case where the ruling on the field is important. All change of possession plays are subject to automatic review.
If you watched the game live they showed an angle that 100% shows he recovered it with both feet in bounds and then the announcers fully agree with the call
announcers are shills in college games, bought and sold. @@kalebanth8323
