This was not only huge for App State but for the entire town of Boone, NC. We partied for months after this and then won the title and partied some more! Its one of my proudest moments for my hometown.

I dig when look-back pieces are done like this, group interview and viewing the game. You can see those guys turn 19-20yrs old, in the moment again for second, here and there. Love that sh*t. My school finally has a moment like that. My NMSU Aggies did the impossible, went to Jordan-Hare Stadium, and beat Auburn last season. It was awesome.
I've been to well over 50 Oregon Duck games in my life, when the PA announcer said the score of this game it was one of the loudest cheers I ever heard in that stadium. No one could believe it, and we hardly even had a stake in the game it was just crazy.

Mark Spier, Western Carolina current, Shawn Elliott Georgi State current, and the HMIC himself Scott Satterfield. Mark was D-backs coach and recruiting coordinator, Shawn was o line coach, and Satt was the QB coach. I think it was his last year there until he came back in 2011 or 2012 as the OC.
To be fair: Penn State had better overall coaching in 2018 compared to 2007 Michigan. The better Penn State coaching is the biggest reason they stopped App St when Michigan didn’t

Hats off to Appalachian State on this win! In retrospect it was an exciting game and as a college football fan, the Appalachian State team played the game of their lives! I loved the reactions of former players and the joy they had in rewatching the game.

I hauled steel out of Detroit area a lot going back down to Ohio and when I heard the team up north signing App State whom I've watched throughout the previous season, I knew it would be a great game. Alit of u of m fans never heard of App State and they thought it was gonna be a blowout and I would tell them about the Mountaineers. This was the start of a bad season for the big 10. Mudway through the season, Minnesota hosted a very little known North Dakota State team that just moved up to fcs from d2 and they we're running the show, and that year NDSU put everyone on notice as they beat Minnesota

Grew up in Boone and graduated from App (91). One of my buddies tried to get me to go to the game with him and a bunch of friends. Told him there was no way I was going all the way to Michigan to see App lose. He was the guy in the yellow striped coveralls. One of my biggest regrets.
I remember trying to find this game on my cable system, on line, streaming, what have you. App State’s coach prepared his squad well at the half, telling his players to expect what was coming and to be ready.
I was unaware of the quality of this football program until this past Saturday when the Mountaineers came into State College, and nearly beat Penn State. Well done App State. I am now a fan. A lifelong Penn State fan
