    Remarkable philosophy is great! I don't appreciate brands that release multiple devices per year, causing them to become outdated quickly. In a world filled with senseless production and the need to minimize waste, it's wonderful to find a company that supports its devices for many years. While a device could be faster or have a better screen, it's reassuring to know that when you invest in a product, it's been built to last.

      I agree though I wish when they initially released it, it had a backlight.

    I bought R2 recently and it feels like a modern device exactly designed to help with note taking and keeping. It helps me a lot. All I need is a software upgrade now to add drawing shapes, easier access to tags and possibility to draw tables easily.

    More features, more complexity. That's not what many users like me are seeking. I like long life devices to support my long term work. But a new screen with improved definition and latency would be welcome.

    Honestly I like the Remarkable 2 because it's so simple. It really doesn't need a glow light. It's not fast, but the OS is so simple you really don't need it to be fast. Also that there aren't any distractions from Apps or Notifications like on Android based ereaders/enotes.

    • @goodereader
      @goodereader  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That's the go-to isn't it? No distractions

      @@goodereader It is. I have been using my Remarkable 2 for something rather unique I guess; I have recently started writing a book. (fictional) And I use my remarkable to: keep notes on the characters, story bytes (shorter parts of the story that are somewhat self contained), world building / reference, and rereading my work. I use my Mac to do the actual writing though. Since I do like the keyboard folio for short writing sessions, not so much for longer sessions.

    Remarkable has all the features that are needed for the ebook! No point in having any other fancy features.

    This is how it should be in a climate crisis world. Making things last as long as possible. They have the right concept.

    ReMarkable reminds me of pre-Cook Apple. Sure, competing devices had a lot more on their spec sheets. A Toshiba MP3 player looked much better on paper than an iPod, but what would you rather actually use every day? I don't want to use Android shoved into an environment it wasn't made for, on a tablet that tries to do everything; rather than doing a few core things well. And expecting them to misses the point. Well designed technology is transparent. I don't want to have to think about the tablet I am using. I just want it to work.

    @goodereader which one is the best? In 2024, which one should I buy if I want a good and easy note taking device?

    All I really would ask for is a backlight with same battery life. And when ai type make it the whole page jot just the middle

    Why don’t you get an iPad already. I just don’t get it why the Remarkable strategy bugs you so much. They do good marketing, they have a decent platform (could always be better).
    A Play Store is exactly what people want to escape from.

    I love my Remarkable2 (purchased Oct2020). It was the only device that allowed me to teach online smoothly and without any issues. There was nothing that could compare to how easy it was to present lessons, and grade pdf's.

    Yes 4 years old! But I want one! All other eink tablets are in a race to become a pseudo iPad. An update after 4 years would be good. Just a faster CPU, a lot more storage, better I/O options, hypertext links, would do it for me. Technology wise this is simple and they should have done it 2 years ago. Don't need a glow light. Paper doesn't have backlighting!

    • @goodereader
      @goodereader  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      We don't speculate without doing research that can be backed by anything, and there is no information whatsoever from either remarkable or any other source that says a third generation is coming out
