Haha. Funny thing. I had the same exact argument with myself this summer. I went to my local golf store few months back to fit myself new blades. I had already decided which clubs to try. Propably needles to say, Srixon Z-Forged irons were not in the mix. I tried several brands but I kinda expected to walk out the store with new Mizuno MB's. How ever... After a while the fitter asked me if I wanted to try out one more iron. He gave me Srixon Z-Forget 7 iron from his own bag. It was love at the first swing. For some unexplained reason I got almost 3mph more speed compared to Mizunos and the swing balance was way better. I had to go trough very serious debate with my ego if I could put Srixons in my bag. After that battle I am now hitting way more greens than I used to. I lowered my handicap from 3.6 to 1.0 this year. I am not saying it's just becouse those clubs but I have been playing golf since 5 years old and I am 34 years old now so that kind of performance upgrade is not typical for me, unfortunately. And one more thing I must say. I didn't really believe that different clubs suit better for different swings. I always thought that there might be some small differences in performance but I was under the impression that it's 90% marketing speaking there. Like when club fitters say "come here and get fitted for new clubs and you'll lower your score", I was always thinking in my mind "yeah right". But. All those irons performed SO DIFFERENTY. For example my friend loves his Staff Model blades and he is hitting those arguably better than any other clubs he has tried. But for me every shot went sky high. 7 iron felt like 9 iron. So. Srixons are in my bag for good reason. So for you who is reading this comment and thinking if you should try Srixons as well, I tell you: YES. Srixons may or may not be best for your swing, but I honestly think Srixons should always be in the mix when you are fitting yourself a new clubs. Cheers: -Panu
I just went in and got fitted for the first time. When the guy asked if I had a brand preference I said "No, I'll go with what the computer tells me suits me best!" I ended up with the ZX5's!
Played Callaway all my life except wedges, Cleveland for me, tried others but always come back to the best, playing my 3rd set of rtx3's!! Anyway i popped in to my local range to buy my 3rd set and on the counter were the heads of the ZX7 and ZX5, i picked up the 5's and it was, wow!!! these are gorgeous. I immediately took them out with a bucket of balls and less than a dozen balls later my mind was made up. Everything, absolutely everything i want from an iron is in this sleek beautiful package. Bought them immediately and should be here early next week, im not one to chop and change so it was quite the revelation for me but they are just so good, they have given me my mojo back, well perhaps a 2nd mojo, cannot wait, drooling as i type!!!
Playing Z765 since 2018. Fell in love with the looks. Performs as well as any other forged irons. The best part of Srixon is (hate to say it) that they are the most price competitive. Best "bang for the buck" IMO.
Just got fitted for the ZX7’s today and pulled the trigger! These were up against Callaway, Taylormade, and Cobra and these irons were performing beautifully! It took me a brief moment and close to 30 swings before there was no arguing these were the irons for me. My fitter applauded my stubbornness and I’ll tell you what, if I hit these bad even one time I was moving on. Even with miss hits, they’re surprisingly forgiving and you don’t give up distance. I’m a 12 handicap and was scared to buy player irons, but the ZX7’s are butter and I’m glad TH-cam has affirmed my purchase!
Great review Andy! I’m on my 2nd set of Srixon irons. 1st were 745s and I now play Z Forged. I first went to them because I recognised their quality and also like to play something that everyone else doesn’t! The shaft and grip options (at no cost) set the bar for other manufacturers to follow and my fitter, Custom Lab Golf offers superb club building from component parts direct from Srixon, again guaranteeing the quality. When I ordered the 1st set, the 4 irons were out of stock so Srixon supplies a hybrid in my choice of loft, free of charge, until the 4 iron arrived. Win, win. I believe the quality is compatible to Mizuno and its nice to have something a little ‘unique’. Keep up the good work, I’m loving it 👍
Did you try the ZX7’s? What’s you handicap? I’m playing JPX 850 forged that are getting weathered.. and keen to try the Srixons. My handicap is currently at 10.7.. looking to take next step
@@jaypeegolf thanks. As much as I would love the Z forged I think I may have to work my way to them and the ZX7’s could be that step. Enjoy your golf 👍
I had a previous model of the Srixons in my bag for almost 2 years and loved them. I used the Z745's and only changed to my current Mizuno MP18 SC's because I got a set for a really good price and my 745's were starting to look a little worn. When the new ZX series was released, it was an iron I put right at the top of my list of possible replacements for my Mizuno's. The performance and feel is excellent and what makes it even better is the pricing when compared to the other premium brands. You get as much if not more club for less money.
I used titleist always. Was booked on a titleist Thursday which they cancelled went for a golf lesson and tried these during and fell in love. The feel is one thing but the consistency is incredible had to have them just knowing what your club is going to do is amazing and the look is stunning
Played Mizuno for 18 years, tested the ZX5’s and ZX7’s on advice of my club pro who just put 7’s in his bag (and doesn’t stock Mizuno). Didn’t need to go test new Mizuno’s, combo of ZX5 and ZX7 ordered. Look like my JPX825 Pro’s but the 7 iron consistently 15-20 yards further, more forgiving and feel as good. Job done.
Had a similar feeling when I went to my fitting with True Spec. Hit all the usual suspects and was pretty happy with a couple. Fitter said he wanted me to hit one more and pulled out the 785s. I was kind of meh but had gone in telling myself I'd trust the fitter and the numbers so I humored him. Well they ended up blowing everything out of the water numbers wise for me. Consistently 4-5 yards longer and the dispersion circle was unreal. Still wasn't sure if I was sold on the brand or the looks but he said it'd be foolish to go with anything else. After getting the clubs and putting them into play I quickly became a Srixon loyalist. The irons are just so good. Greens in reg stat is the best it's ever been and have lowered my handicap from a 9 to a 5 in my first year playing them as a result of both the club and the custom fit. Mostly likely will be sticking with the 785s but definitely want to hit these to see how much difference there is. The X5 looks like it blends better than the previous model so I could see myself potentially combing in a 4 and 5 iron.
I recently got fitted for the first time at age 59! I love my current hybrids and have hybrids 3-6 available so my thinking was I wanted to get irons that fit in with my hybrids. That meant a 7 iron that flew around 150. Tried several GI clubs like Wilson D7 forged, Ping i500s, P790s etc. but they flew more like 160 with
Well, picked up the ZX7 this season. I think these are incredible. I am a bit steep but not overly. Came off 718AP after Mizuno MP-100 , MP-14. These are not blade harsh, but blade like. Consistent.
I bought them because of sleek look, feel and how they felt in my hands. I stumbled upon them. I was looking for forged and thought my game was ready for that. I had the same reservations about srixon as you mentioned. I don’t have access to many different types of clubs other than a few name brands. But I choose the clubs by eye and feel like I do most everything else in my life. I was not wrong. Their quality is undeniable. They are way better than I imagined. I’m way more consistent. I know where my bad shots are going and they have plugged all the holes I had from 165 to 205. I’m much more confident and can play irons of the tee strategically. I play more par 5 with driver/irons instead of driver/woods as well.
Have a set of Z785's. Best feel and looking irons around. Srixon are very under rated by most golfers who go for the "bigger" brand names and overlook Srixon. I'm very pleased to see someone finally doing a review of Srixon. Thanks, well done
No one should question Srixon irons. They're amazing, Japanese forged irons. I changed from Mizuno to Srixon last year, based purely on launch numbers. I've never been playing better.
Hi Andy, I still have my z765 irons which I love more that chips. Bought them after your review and the fact you put them in your bag for a while says a lot . I have the z65 hybrids and z785 5 wood . Best clubs I've ever owned . Not found a set of clubs that can move them out of my bag including the newer models of this range. Great review as always
Played Mizuno and then Ping exclusively. This past year my brother-in-law turned me on to a lightly used set of Z585. Amazing pop off the face and best feeling clubs I’ve had in a long time. The short irons are amazing good. While the Z’s are forgiving, I’m not consistent enough in the ball striking department with anything above a 7 iron. I tried a set of PXG 0211 irons, which feel really good...but not Z585 good. The PXG are more consistent, but I lose about 4 yards of carry for some clubs, so it is a trade off. I am going to reassess over the winter with a some club data for each and decide where I want to land. I am guessing I play Srixon short irons, different mid-irons and more hybrids given that I am over 60 and starting to lose ground. Keep up the great reviews Andy
I’ve had my 585’s for a couple of years. Really enjoy them. They were the best feeling club of all clubs I tried when getting fitted. Tried clubs from titleist, ping, Taylormade, cobra, Calloway and mizuno. Surprisingly they were the best for me so I got them. Kept an open mind and got what suited me.
Andy, I swore by ping irons for over 25 years and out of curiosity attended a Srixon fitting in 2017 and was blown away by the irons, immediately ordered a set of Z765 irons and haven't looked back and even managed to win 3 majors at the club with them. Will certainly be looking at Srixon again for my next set of irons.
Andy I had the same experience as you! 2 years ago I went to PGA Superstore to buy Ping I500 after reading all the reviews and videos but they didn't feel good and sounded worse. Tried a few other brands, then at the last minute the fitter introduced me to the Srixon rep who was doing a prep launch of the Z585 and Z785. I reluctantly tried the Z585 and instantly fell in love with the feel and consistency of the strike. I ordered them on the spot. I could not be happier with the decision.
Been playing Mizuno my entire life, just picked up a heavily discounted set of brand new 785s and I absolutely love them. To me, they're equal in quality, but Srixon is definitely underrated.
I was fitted last week and went with them. The performance was better than my current set. The feel was fantastic. I can’t wait to get them on the course next year...
Went for a fitting yesterday at Precision Golf...in my head, I thought Titleist 620 CB, TM P770, Cobra Forged Tec, Callaway Apex Pro...hadn't even considered a Srixon...well, I walked out with the ZX7s...ball speed super consistent, flight super consistent, even those that felt a touch fat and thin were within about 3mph ball speed...wow
Have had Srixon Irons for years. To me very smooth, forgiving and reliable clubs. Sad to say they are an over looked brand but one you should consider when buying your next clubs.
Recently bought new irons. Drove 60 miles to a fitting studio that stocked most brands. Intended to try these but they didn't have any Srixons in stock. Tried a good number of clubs and for what I was after nothing could beat the Ping i210s. It was a no brainer, especially because, as they've been around a while, they were a good £150-£200 cheaper than anything else.
I had been a Mizuno guy for 20 plus years and last year switched to ZX5s after hitting them in a fitting. Been playing my best golf with them. Pure butter feel and control.
I would definitely consider Srixon for my next iron purchase. I recently purchased a new set. Going into my fitting, I had a preconceived notion that I'd like the Mizuno Hot Metal Tour (I did, btw), but my fitter also had me try the Wilson D7 forged. I would have never considered a Wilson set but they are fantastic! My guess is that these Srixons will fit a lot of people if they give them a chance. At the end of the day, I just want to use the tools that will make my numbers lower. Cheers!
Tested ZX 5 out at PGA Superstore against 3 other top brands. These produced consistently better numbers with less dispersion. I am most likely going to buy. Will update my post in the next month or so.
When I got back into golf five years or so ago, I bought Srixon 585's, I gamed them for about a year and a half. Since then I've purchased and played PXG's 0311's, Titelist T100's, Ping i210's, and Mizuno 921 Forged. I am now strongly considering a ZX7/ZX5 combo set. In my opinion, they are as good, if not better than anything out there.
I was introduced to Cleveland Irons a number of years ago, a fitting whilst on holiday in Florida. Cleveland / Srixon were and are bigger brand in US market than Europe. I've slowly seen both brands raising their profiles here and Seixon Irons were my latest purchase. Z585 which are beautiful to hit and perform incredibly for me. I will now always seek them first ahead of other brands. Having said that I've just replaced Cleveland RTX 2 wedges with Taylormade MG2 as the playability in my hands was what convinced me to change. So I'm not stuck in one brand only - if it's right I'll go with it, if not what is best!
Recently fitted for irons and Srixon's ZX5s were extremely consistent in addition to having wonderful feel and having ample spin and distance. Shots that I mis-hit were ending up on the green. Highly recommend them.
I went to my local shop a couple of years ago to be fitted for , hopefully, Mizuno forged irons. After trying about five different brands forged with track man, I left having ordered Srixon z585 irons. Best performing for me. I am usually brand loyal, so I was surprised I went for them. No regards, still great.
I have played almost every brand of irons over the years. Srixon would be my last choice ...... until this fall. After not playing for several years decided to get back and had to get new clubs. Tested several brands and decided on Taylormade. My pro had a new set of ZX7 irons with stiff graphite shafts and he asked me to try them. Hated the staffs but loved the heads. Deal was he could order both sets but in regular graphite, and whomever could deliver sooner would get the order. Srixon .... one week, Taylormade ..... six weeks. Got the ZX7 with Recoil shafts, and have not looked back. I have NEVER hit the ball so solidly, and after seven years out of the game actually picked up yardage. I guess I should not have been surprised since I owned a set of Cleveland cavity back forged irons back in 2000, and I loved them as well.
Around five years ago I went for a fitting expecting to buy yet another newer set of Mizuno's. I came away with a combi set of Srixons with blades z 945 in pw, 9 and 8 irons then the z 745. After about 4 years I went and bought a set of the newer z 785 and still game them. Unless you go for the more expensive forged irons like Vaga or Miuira, Srixon in the last few years have been flying under the radar with their incredible forged irons. They look great, feel as good as any and perform consistently. I think I'll go have a look at their latest offerings.
Well I know this is a year old, and before I got Iron fitted I would never have looked into Sirxon anything, but having been fitted my 3 favorite Iron sets are PXG Gen 4 so soft, and amazing feeling off the ball. Then Ping 425 Best dispersion out of what I tried and good feel, the. The Sirxon ZX5 feel was amazing, dispersion was not as good as the ping but I loved everything about them. I did try the Callaway Apex, the Taylormades and Cobras. So I plan on getting a set before the season this summer.
I went for a fitting back in August and ended up getting fit for Srixon 785s. They are amazing soft and great clubs. I switched from the Taylormade P790s.
I currently play Callaway Apex forged 16's. They are the best irons I've ever had in the bag. The feel and performance are perfect for me. If I could no longer play them I would definitely go with any forged Srixon iron. In my opinion they make the finest forged irons on the market. I have tested the Z765 and the Z Forged blades. I love the way they feel and the way they sound. They are soft yet powerful and deliver consistent controllable ball flight. I would definitely put Srixon forged irons in my bag.
I just bought a fitted set of ZX5's yesterday, cannot wait to get them in the bag and out on the course. I'm not made out of money, so when I buy an iron set, it's an 8-10 year investment. I tried so many of this years models and IMHO, these ZX5's were simply the best trade off between feel and forgiveness, especially for someone like me with a short punchy swing and not much speed. Could no care less about brand snobbery, my fingers did the buying! ;-)
Hi just recently purchased a set of ZX7 Mk2 AW to 7 iron and ZX5 Mk2 5 and 6 iron. Love these clubs very underestimated in my opinion. The feel and strike are fantastic. A great sleeper product.
I own and play a set of Srixon i-302's circa 2008. They were stunningly good at the time and still are. Not especially forgiving but also not hard to hit and when you do hit them well the reward is incredible. Soft feel and sound and superb flight. I'm guessing the ZX5 are not far different but I won't be changing any time soon.
I’ve tried them twice and just ordered the combo set today. The utility irons are absolutely amazing! They were incredibly easy to hit and look beautiful. Cant wait to get them.
Hi Andy, I was looking at Srixon irons when looking for new irons last year. I ended up buying PXG 0211 irons though. The biggest factor to be honest was price. PXG has a program in the US that offered the irons at quite a large discount. It was too great a deal to pass up. I also purchased a Gen 1 3 wood for a great price as well. I am extremely happy with my decision.
Had a few sets in the past and never been disappointed. Only reason I don't have the new ones is there are very few resellers up here in Scotland, simple as that. I may go the extra mile, this time, to try the ZX5, beautifully forged and a decent size of head.
I have a couple of friends (low-mid single digits) who play Srixon irons and love them. When I got new irons in 2019 they were in my top 3 but I ended up liking the JPX line a little better and, to be honest, the Mizuno fitting process with the shaft optimizer was a key selling point.
I'm looking at moving out of my CBX irons and into a new set and Srixon are definitely on my short list. The new lines aren't out in Canada yet so I'm waiting until they come out. I also really like the MMC, HMB, and 921 Tour. I think name recognition is huge for golfers. If they see it being used by pros they will use it. Srixon may want to spend a bit and get a larger profile/bigger name on their team. Koepka is a free agent they should target.
Certainly could put Srixon in the bag but the shops in my neighborhood don’t have a real Srixon fitting cart. So I cannot get properly fitted which is for example possible with Mizuno. But with a good fitting (right shaft with the head) easily could play Srixon because great product and competitive prices. And I have a Srixon utility iron in the bag (shaft and head worked great on trackman) and love it👍🏽
I had heard a lot about Srixon but couldn't find anyone who had them in stock. Eventually found a pro in North London and tested the Z785's Love the feel of fitting it out of the centre of the face. Went from 16 down to 9 in one season. Can't recommend Srixon enough, lovely irons.
I’ve just purchased some zx7 irons from 3 - AW. I was also extremely hesitant to even try them because they are Srixon.. I had my heart set on some Mizuno 223’s.. I hit every players irons from all manufacturers that make them. I asked the club fitter to withhold the make and model of the clubs I was hitting. I didn’t want to be biased and work just to numbers and feel. The Srixon zx7 won on every aspect apart from length. I wanted irons that had a tight dispersion and consistent carry and roll out and the Srixon ticked that box. Second was the Mizuno 223 Third was the Muira CB 302. I would say give them a go. They are extremely good irons.
I've definitely felt the benefit of the VT sole in the previous Srixon irons, I play two courses, a hard dry links and an a softer inland course. Easy to hit the knock down shots in the wind without the club getting stuck.
In Sweden we have a saying ”to be a cat among the stoats/ermines” and I think that’s what Srixon is all about. Brands like Titleis, Taylor Made, Ping and Cobra are considered to be the good brands and Srixon is the brand that the cat brought in. But ever since I bought my Z745-irons a coupe of years ago I was totally blown away by Srixon. I love those irons, and I think they are far better than the other brands...
Bought my zx7s last week, at a great price for 4 to pw. I borrowed a set for a week. No indoor testing just real golf on three different (turfs ) courses. In 40 years never played a better club. So stable and beautiful feel. I'm 66 with a 9 handicap not the best longest striker and logic would say i should be hitting the Z5 but I hit the Z7 much much better and just as long. I like my Titleist woods my 3 Callaway hybrids and my 4 Cleveland wedges. Looking for a magician's golf bag to conceal 3 or 4 clubs. Ha, great fun rotating my set, what else can you play with at 66!
I have the 585s. Had to buy them on faith as no fitter / pro shop carries them in my area. Perhaps why they are not as popular - retail coverage? I have been very happy with them.
Our club pro is a Srixon guy and has offered a set of irons to me at an attractive price. Although they are great looking, well made, and perform well, I am not willing to abandon my PXG irons for them. I like to stick with what I know because familiarity breeds confidence.
Tried them at a club fitting and went with Mizuno JPX 921 Tour instead. Maybe backwards thinking but the Mizuno punished me more on bad strikes and I chose that to force me to not get sloppy in my swing because a more forgiving club would allow it.
I play Pings. I think they’re as good as I need and I can always sell them easily when the new models come out. Your reviews of the 921’s, PXG’s and the Callaway Apex’s have tempted me. Now you throw in Srixon. Great review! Thanks AG
Ended up with a bargain on runout z785s. Would never have thought of Srixon until I saw TH-cam reviews then tried them - blown away by both performance and feel (and they replace Mizuno MP blades). Top notch review, spot on summary of brands in our bags.
Srixon has been at the top of my list since the Z545. I have owned Z545 and Z765. Srixon has amazing feel and good forgiveness. Well worth a try just watch spin rates as a lot of people have trouble getting spin high enough.
Seeing as you asked..I had a mixed set of Srixon 565 and 575 irons..loved them but wasn't crazy about the kuro 8 shafts..decided to get a mixed set the new TMp790 and p770..absolutely hate them..going back to srixon as soon as the zx5&7 come out here..Going to take a real bath on the TMs but at this point don't care..
I just recently went and had ever intention of walking out with callaway apex pros...I tested those along with Mizuno jpx tour, p770, zx5s, g425, and Wilson staff model cbs.. By far the best performer for me was the Wilson staff. Did best in every single category. I wanted so much the apex to outperform all the rest but in the end I couldn't ignore the Wilson staff and walked out with the model cbs. Went to course couple days later and backed up what I seen in the store..I'm so impressed by them I thinking bout buying a 2nd set so I can play them the rest of my life... I looked at Wilson like a lot look at srixon. I'll never over look them again
Having owned many mizuno irons over the years, I put the srixon 785's in the bag to try, and have no regrets, Performance has been excellent for me. Just put them up against other irons, no complaints.
I tested the last version of the Srixon 5&7 series irons and didn't buy them, went Mizuno, because the Spin Rate was too low - and thus, I'm very surprised by these results given the 31-degree loft. Yes, I would buy these - and having watched your videos for a few years, I would agree, those are the most optimal numbers I've seen you hit. The other reason I would buy them is that they are bendable so you can easily optimize your loft & lie numbers to dial in each club for gapping.
I'll be testing the ZX5 over the summer when I replace my old x16 irons. Not sure I'm good enough for the ZX5 but hopefully some regular practice will improve my swing and strike consistency.
@@brenttt41 I ended up getting i525 after testing just about everything in that category over 2 fittings (except PXG). Biggest change is moving to graphite shafts for the first time.
@@lindsaynewell6319 those are great clubs! I got fitted into Mozuno Pro 223 with extra stiff shafts. It’s eye opening what a fitting can do to show us how consistent our shots can be. Congrats on the new clubs!
I am currently playing z545, I bought them the year they came out, and have not even thought about upgrading. Soft feel, player type look. Srixon is consistantly on point with there product.
@@markwilliams21 Copy that. Bought the 785s earlier in the year at the anticipated run-out price. Zero regrets: it's actually hard to miss-hit them. Feel, looks, sound and general play-ability are superb.
I would 100% pick up a Srixon set. I’m currently playing TaylorMade Stealth. I am a returning golfer who hasn’t played since I was a junior player. I recently won a Srixon fairway wood in a raffle and I’ve been seriously impressed with its performance. When my game improves I’ll gladly pick up the new ZX range 👍🏻
I’ve been playing the 585’s for about a year. Was a Ping iron guy forever except for a brief spin with some Mizuno’s a few years ago. Wouldn’t go back. These are beautiful irons, high quality, long and just forgiving enough. I like playing an iron not everyone plays. I think the new ZX5’s & 7’s look even better and there’s not a huge difference if you want to go with a combo set. Would love to trade up now, but probably another year away for that.
I'm playing the Zx5 irons now.........after 25+yrs on Mizuno. I feel they are performing as good as any I've hit before. Love them and I actually think the forged cavity with the great friendly sole is just a great great club. Yes!!!
Nice review Andy. I played with a guy who had Srixon irons a couple of years ago and he said that if he ran across someone else who had Srixon's in the bag, there was a good chance that they had been fitted for them. Meaning, no one seeks out the brand on their own I guess. Interesting enough, I have a set of the older I-701 tour irons. Nice irons, but never really beat out my Mizuno's and made the starting line-up. You have me thinking about re-gripping them and putting them in the bag while I wait for my P770's. Cheers until next time. I'm looking forward to seeing which irons you end up with.
Don't know if Srixon is positioned differently in Europe, but I think in North America a lot of golfers have Srixon irons on their short list. Great irons since the Z545/745 and have been priced very competitively.
Feel, Performance & Look : those are my 3 criteria in this order for choosing irons I hesitated between Srixon Z Forged and Callaway MB for my PW-9-8 irons and I finally chose Callaway MB just because shafts I wanted (Aerotech Steelfiber) were not available at Srixon...
I did buy them after testing a few others. They are perfect for my game and when I look down at address love what I see, the balance and the sound feels great. I play mid teen Handicap and improving wishing to become a single figure golfer with these. My favourite club of the set would be the 5 and 8 irons.
Retired 3yr ago and tried EVERY. players irons out there, Srixon Z765 easily the best. Got me from 6.5 to 4.5 HCap in a year. Perfect combo of feel, looks and forgiveness . Oh and the Open Champion plays Srixon..... good enough ?
I have played Srixon Irons a lot in the past. I-302 and I 545's. Did not get on with the 701's that followed and that is probably why i ended up elsewhere for a number of years. Very Interested in these new ZX5 and ZX7 however. ( Still have both those sets of Srixons still in the backup bags)
Purchased a set of Ping i210’s in April changing out from Mizuno jpx90 tours, can’t fault the performance but don’t love the feel. Went in today to try the new 920 Tours, ended up with the ZX7, quite simply nothing else would touch them with the Modus shaft - now have to wait for January due to demand here in Oz
I’ve been fitted and have tried Srixon, was close to being fitted for Srixon until I went to the 4 and 5 iron. With the top 3 performers in 7 iron, another wound up being better for myself with another 4 and 5 iron. But Srixon did fall into my top three with a Club Champion fitting.
Playing Z155 irons very nice and like Wilson very underrated. The main problem for Srixon- Cleveland and Wilson is a shortage of stockists in the U.K. So for many people they are not,on the radar.
I went from Z745's to Z785's and couldn't be happier. Srixon used to have a resale value problem but that's not the case anymore. With Srixon you get a high end Endo Forged head at other OEM's VTI China forged prices if not lower. Not trying to start a "which forged is better" argument but it's hard to argue Srixon's quality, at least when it comes to irons. I don't think the same can be said for their woods.
Just bought a set of the z785s and these things are so consistent. Really rewarding clubs. I'm a 13 hc. Pretty sure the new series will be just as good. Don't get sidetracked by the bigger brand marketing, brands are bragging rights imo. Just go with what works
Cheers: -Panu
just brought 3 zu65 and zu85 utility irons, fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yup, go with what feels best for you and your swing. Be lovely to be able to rent some current models for a round.
You confort me for my next fitting, i play mizuno and i will definitly try srixon
I would not by them , only reason I already have the z-forged blades and I absolutely love them. Srixon is a brilliant brand. Totally underrated
I’m an ex club pro, and I’ve played Titleist irons literally forever. However, one day I tried the Srixon 765 irons and never looked back. A++
Seems like a no brainer. I don’t understand why people are brand loyal. Get whatever works best for you 🤷♂️
Its not the brand that puts me off its the loft feel and looks
@@blackbat38 feel and looks I can get, but the loft I can’t. Who cares what the loft is, if it flies the yardage you need so be it.
@@kevingallemore6779 Agree!
@@blackbat38 the lofts can be bent to weaker
I love Cleveland wedges…but will point out that Roger Cleveland now designs Callaway’s wedges after selling the company to Srixon. 😉
I’m a 14 handicap and just did the same. I pray I don’t regret going with the zx5s but the 7s I just kept crushing over and over.
Picked up a set of Srixon Z585 off eBay recently. The best looking clubs for a 20 hcp like me looking to improve.
@@ghostshipone No I haven't tried the ZX7s. They weren't released when I bought my Z-Forged in 2019. I have an index of 2.9.
Job done.
My bag: Z785 driver,H85 2 and 4, Z585 5i-7i,Z785 8i-aw,cleveland cbx2 wedges 56 and60. All customfitted. And it goes in a SRIXON tourbag. STUNNING!!!
Loving this new format of yours. Honest discussion and stylish presentation. Top marks👍!
I have no problem to choose a brand that’s not amongst the most talked about. I bought Srixon irons because of feel, looks and performance.
I game these in 5/6/7 and the zx7 8-PW. crazy consistent, forgiving, no low spin flyers. The confidence I have with a 5 iron has never been so high.
Bought ZX5’s today. Absolutely love them. Results compare to T200 were similar, but the price point... I chose Srixon...
I have had Srixons since 2018 now have a combo 8-PW ZX785, 5-7 ZX585, 4-iron and 2-iron U85, all with Recoil shafts. Extremely happy!
Good vid Andy ,the irons are really good but like Cleveland not easy to find a place to get fitted.
Got the ZX5 and these working brilliant for me. Was looking for the Callaways but the fitter ask me to test them. So happy now for this suggestion.
You predicted the future!
Second was the Mizuno 223
Third was the Muira CB 302.
Yes I’ve had a few sets of Srixon irons, I’m a big fan of them as well as their long irons ZU Range and even the wedges feel and perform great.
I think i will be waiting until these release in the USA and then upgrade from my current Ping i5s, hopefully 15+ years of tech will help 😂
In love with 785/585 Combo.
I have always been a TaylorMade and Titleist guy...I just purchased the ZX7 and I love them.
Yes I play Z545 irons. Great feel and sounds like a true forged solid body iron. The sound of z565 and z585 not as good as z545.
I am on my third set of Srixon irons, looking forward to a new set zx7 in the spring.
Been playing with the Callaway X16 for like 10 years now. It’s time for an upgrade and I’m pretty sold on this
@@brenttt41 I ended up getting i525 after testing just about everything in that category over 2 fittings (except PXG).
I chose the Z785 over P760s and JPX 919Tours last year and I haven't looked back. Beautiful and super performing clubs..
You are right. I won't buy these. I already have the 785's. Fantastic clubs.
Me too. Beautiful clubs
Got fitted for these recently, they were my first choice and loved them
I’ve been playing the 585’s for about a year.
Yes!!!
Just a note to add...if you want clubs you can brag about you can tell people these are forged in Japan by Endo. That’s pretty cool.
Must honest review I have ever seen! Thanks! Greetings from Mexico
Feel, Performance & Look : those are my 3 criteria in this order for choosing irons
I hesitated between Srixon Z Forged and Callaway MB for my PW-9-8 irons and I finally chose Callaway MB just because shafts I wanted (Aerotech Steelfiber) were not available at Srixon...
60 yr old 5-HDCP- 8 months ago I tested all brands and bought Z585. I was surprised by them. Great irons.
