    Huge congrats to Cordy & Lenny welcoming Elodie to the land of legato. This was a funny project that pulled me out a bit of a January slumber funk, thanks for watching guys. Vids, apps and courses all in the pipeline :) x

      Hah that’s actually a really interesting way to describe it. This kind of a lick, to do it correctly, requires individual control over the finger movements whilst the hand remains still like a platform. So I get what you’re saying! 😃 thanks for watching and the kind words 🙏🏻👍🏻🎸🐝

    Sir, welcome back! Glad you are doing better. Loved the collab with JNC lol and you are right! I thought my notifications were messed up cuz I receive like 150 daily about a new JNC video! That guy is a video producing machine! Great lessons btw, as always!

    For some reason I wasn’t already subscribed to you! The JNC video was brilliant and this’ll be my practice routine tonight.
    Also, have to say I love Solo. I was a launch day customer of the iOS version and have zero complaints about the app. Truly unique and a brilliant practice tool/companion.

    Hi Dave. Excellent lesson! This concept of ´´expansion and compression´´ is really the ´´ace in the hole´´ for who wants to improve their legato. What a pity to hear that the sales of Solo on Android have not been very satisfactory (for my part I could sell at least 5 copies to my guitar students as far as I know). I think I'll have to buy an Iphone if I want to keep taking advantage of the new Solo updates lol. Cheers.

    That Guitar is actually a real dark green color, when John had it, it always looked Black. CORDY has a KID!!!!

    • @DavidBeebee
      @DavidBeebee  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea it’s an incredible colour, mostly looks like a slightly off black and then when the light catches it becomes a gorgeous dark green. Superb vintage strat vibes.

      Thanks Luke! Yea, I remember it being huge breakthrough for me. Tom partly covers the transition stuff in ML part 3 but he hadn't released it at the time I was figuring this stuff out, so a lot the development was trial and error elbow grease after he had pointed it out in my playing. Fun times!

    Smooth and very tasty legato :) also good to hear that you're working to upgrade Solo app - I'm Android user, so I guess update is coming later. One thing that amazes me and makes me wonder why... Why don't you play in perfect 4ths tuning, knowing the advantages for this legato stuff :) (I play in standard tuning)

    • @DavidBeebee
      @DavidBeebee  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks very much! Re: not playing in 4ths, this is a great topic for a video actually, but briefly, I'd already learnt the fretboard note names in standard tuning very thoroughly prior to restarting my guitar journey. I also play a lot of function type gigs and used to teach a lot in schools, which 4ths would be a nightmare for. To be honest, staying in standard has resulted in some interesting line construction quirks and good challenges. 4ths is amazing for visualisation, but you can totally apply the same logic to standard with a few compensations.

      @graycolors2879 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DavidBeebee I'd love to see such video "why I'm playing in standard tuning". I think Tom Quayle mentioned on one of Solo app videos, that you're on standard tuning and you would uncover some tips for using Solo app and this tuning. I think this would help us a lot. Cheers!

    Weirdly I used solo for the first time in a while today (I've got myself down a rabbit mine using a major thirds tuning (not A major but G2 aug), (it's more easy for thick people to visualise and hear I think!) coz I can play basic root position jazz chords much more easily and one or two shapes work for each chord across the neck for the most part, because it's symmetrical! So I've been re-learning everything and haven't been doing much else guitar wise) and why I've not used the app for a while.
    Then I wondered about the update that you talked about in the podcast, so some good news!
    But, my questions are these: is the iOS market that much bigger? Will we get an Android update? is the podcast no more? I hope not... (I get that you and Tom use apple stuff so that's a priority) great playing by the way!

    • @DavidBeebee
      @DavidBeebee  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Oh wow major thirds tuning?! What is each string tuned to?! Re: Solo. Can't give specifics, but our focus has to be iOS right now, as yes the market is literally 4 times bigger. We somewhat reluctantly shifted resources to build Android after the initial iOS release (due to maannny requests and complaints for it), then almost nobody bought it in comparison! haha. It's just a very loud, vocal market, but doesn't really buy apps it seems. We will absolutely keep supporting Android users, but for now focus has to go back to iOS to get back to our original feature roadmap/plan. Pod will be back, and thanks for the kind words on the playing. Cheers Chris

    • @chrishandley
      @chrishandley ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DavidBeebee the tuning I'm using is basically using the G and B strings as usual then top Eb, you just repeat that on the lower strings giving a G2 augmented triad on the bottom three strings and G3 aug on the top set! The reason I chose that option is I know those strings already! (B and Eb aug triads are also there in the open strings! Obviously...) looking forward to the update on Android when you get round to it. Cheers

    Thanks for the lesson. I can play this at half speed without too much trouble. But there is no way I could ever pay it at full speed. My fingers have never moved that fast. Any suggestions? I don't think it's a simple matter of practicing. Like I said, I just can't move my fingers that fast. Right and left hands.

    • @DavidBeebee
      @DavidBeebee  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Tony, you're welcome. I think you may be unintentionally raising an interesting point about on expectations and the long game. It's hard to say for any given random individual what the limits of achievement may be, but it's really common to not have the full picture of just how long this stuff takes. Let me think on this, I've got an idea for a video that may help. In the meantime, I would try to find satisfaction and enjoyment at the speeds where you can absolutely and consistently nail it. Keep practicing.
