@@tomsylvania587 HELL YA!!! I grew up in Los Angeles and every weekend you could count in that they were playing some random skate competition or music festival somewhere in Orange County! So RAD! I’ve always dreamt of going to New York cause of the amazing underground music scene. Plus all the amazing music artist that all got their start in New York. The music history alone in New York is definitely enough for me to want to plan a trip one day. I know this is totally random, but one of my ultimate dreams is to touch the side walk outside of STUDIO 54!!! Lmfao. I know that’s gnarly and gross, but to think of that building could talk… my gosh!!!! SO DOPE!!! ✌🏼✨

311... I'd listen to 311 constantly in my 20ies and 30ies and 40ies and in my 50ies... When I was working out at the gym, driving around, hanging around, running, at parties.... Over the years I've lost count of how many 311 shows I've been to. I've managed to catch 2 drum sticks from Chad Sexton. 311 Always gives Great Show.... I'm DOWN!

I mentioned in another reaction, there is two vocalists. Nick "Hex" Hexum is the lead vocals. Then you have SA, the homie that "raps" it all up into a beautiful disaster! Will always be my favorite band. I'll still be listening to them in my grave.

SA (the guy rapping) is life. He is so fun to watch onstage. Seen them live 20 times and hope to see them 20 more!!
And to answer your question, SA is all of the above. Rapper, Singer, DJ, backing vocals, tambourine and percussion and…total hype man!

Yes! Thank you for digging this amazing classic! You're the only reaction on YT that gives it justice❤ and yea, I got you, that 90's swag, attitude. I get it! Guys in these bands back then had it. Even Gwen Stephani lol. Loved No Doubt too. Brings back my high school days. On the radio and CD on repeat! Thanks from NC

This was 311's most successful song on the Billboard charts back in its day. It was #1 on the alternative airplay chart for like 6 weeks straight back in 96. The self-titled album (commonly referred to as the "blue" album) that this song is on was also their best seller going 3x platinum in the US. That same album also has All Mixed Up which was another one of their bigger hits.

Love this song, it brings me back to 1997 in 6th/7th grade when I started partying and was out drinking frat guys at 12 years old, I’m a marathon drinker, I’m up still drinking when everyone else is passed out, I’m doing the drawing on the face and not getting drawn on

dude SA, the "DJ" tears it up all night long, he goes so hard that he's soaked in sweat every night, saw em 2 nights I n a row last year in Chicago (I live in Houston) and they played their most cherished classic songs at the HOB, they're in they're 50s and still rocking out hard everywhere. I love yawls swag too i9m subbing, you guys are my kind of people.

    Guitar/Lead vocals - Nick Hexum
    Vocals/Turntables - SA (Doug Martinez)
    Guitar - Tim Mahoney
    Basa - P-Nut (Aaron Wills)
    Drums - Chad Sexton
SA sings more than working the turntables, but he uses the table a fair amount.
Nick would be considered the main vocalist overall, but some songs, like Down, SA takes the lead, and some songs he's the only singer. Depends on what the song requires.
HUGE library to explore. I hope you stick with them.

    • @drumsNstuff79
      @drumsNstuff79 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Chad Sexton couldn't make this performance due to a broken hand. That is the great Josh Freese on drums filling in. Josh is also the current drummer for Devo and Sting, and well as having played with Paramore and Weezer. among many many others over the decades. Plus he's a top session drummer on hundreds of big hits over the years..

Their discography is so diverse. Vocally, Nick and SA both have songs where they sing solo, rap back and forth, and/or harmonize. SA plays tambourine, DJs, and spits transcendent poetry, between falsetto harmonies and, even a few solos. Nick plays backup guitar, shreds a few solos, sings everything from sultry to swing to reggae-rap and everything in between.
For more SA solo songs, check out The Continuous Life and It's Getting OK Now. To see more Nick solo, try "Lose."
Some more recent songs I recommend are Existential Hero or The Night is Young.
    They have something for everyone.
    Enjoy 😉

I can tell Travis and Susie are feeling P-Nut's bass playing. He's a tall dude - 6 foot 4 I think. He really uses his long hands and fingers to muscle the bass and play some great slap and funk stuff. Mahoney has a lot of beauty and creativity in his guitar play, but PNut on bass and Chad Sexton on drums are the technical experts of the band.
