How to replace a water pump - Tackling the cooling system - Morris Minor budget build

  • The cooling system on my budget build Morris Minor is the last step before i can properly time and tune the engine.
Whilst replacing hoses, i found the water pump to be badly corroded so decided to replace it with a new one. The old water pump also had a section missing for the bypass hose to the head so it was probably a good thing i did!
My plan for this car is to get it on the road for as little as possible and keep the 'rat' look for now. This will allow me to focus on my other projects and maybe when this channel has millions of views and is monetized, il get a professional respray.

Brilliant video. Well done. I love watching Morris videos. The cars are great, people can work on them, even bodywork with just a modicum of experience. If you’re a man, and can use an angle grinder and a welder you’re sorted. This doesn’t hold true for modern cars! Thanks for taking the trouble to film this job. Very interesting. 👍Brian.

Thanks for the comment. I would have preferred to put some sealant on but left it at work, doh! The gasket seems to be holding ok though. I have ordered a new bypass hose now. I actually read about them failing earlier today. Must have been a sign

@@MarksWheels i did this job recently just before putting the car into temporary hibernation. Originally there was a bad leak through one of the bolt holes. Went with some hylomar blue when refitting which seems to have done the job. Not q mechanic so it's lots of trial and error. Your vids might help going forward
