Immerse yourself in my personal 'classic' vehicles include a 1967 Morris 1000 and a 1978 MG Midget with Rover k series power (1.4). My 'future' classics include a 1993 Peugeot 405 alternative fuel estate, a 1998 Volkswagen golf GTI track car, and a 2003 Jaguar S type R.
I do have a habit of buying cars on a whim so others do come and go but this little collection is pretty much a forever collection.
On my channel i share my progress working on my classic and future classic cars. There will also be some general vlogging at car shows, meet ups and everyday drives. I try to upload my video's once per week so be sure to subscribe and i hope to see you at some car shows in the future.

I NEVER realised - NEW steering wheel - feels like different car!
I never knew that a new steering wheel would transform the car, it really feels like a different car to drive!
The steering wheel, i purchased on eBay a few months ago and has sat in my work office since then but finally, after now driving the car for SIX MONTHS, i brought her to work and swapped the old wheel with the new.

Hi there. Old Automotive tutor here. Next time, clean the adjuster and put a spot two pot white paint onto the adjustment screw.. Yes, the front has two leading shoes, meaning two cylinders. It's important to keep the brakes adjusted, as that decreases the movement on the cylinder seal cups and hence the wear. If the brakes are in good nick, they will bleed themselves overnight. If not, suspect the foot valve in the master Cylinder. It's there to keep a minimum tension in the system, hence keeping the cups sealed tight.
Thanks for the tip. I will pin your comment
So I did this this weekend, the idle sound better but when you accelerate I think its really bad. I put it back on after one drive 😅
Lol. I quite liked it. Down to everyone's taste I suppose
Seriously useless; don't waste your money. I bought two - the first one hardly worked so I returned for the more powerful option. It uses so many buckets of water for hardly visible results; the hose pipe keeps detaching, the red and green ends fly off, battery life goes down rapidly. Considering the price you may just as well add more money and buy a decent pressure washer that connects to the mains
Thanks for commenting
Mark, I have a 2005 STR with 133K km on it. I've seen the Wheeler Dealer 100K mile jag that had the same coating problem you show. Having fixed EGR, DCCV and the climate control module is being fixed in the US (I'm in Canada) - any idea if, when this could be a problem for me. What's the mileage on your STR? Great videos - my mechanic thanks you, so do I.!!
Thanks for the comment! The people who rebuilt mine assured me that the coating is not a problem and that any boost lost is very minimal
Tie a fishing weight to the filter and peg the hose to the bucket...easy!

Thanks for the advice, very useful for changing mirror in Tasmania.
Thanks for watching
My replacement mirror was green on silver car so I bought some carbon fibre covers off the internet, looks great. Followed these instructions exactly but used two hands! 😂
@@BrianHartnett-e9b Lol, two hand definately helps
If anyone accidentally gets brake fluid on the brake disc or drum, just use some brake cleaner and paper towel to wipe it off, it's no biggie, but if it gets onto the brake pads, you need to take the caliper off and clean those too. Like they say about prep, goes a long way... When you stated not to tip brake fluid down the drain, that seriously shouldn't have been necessary. If anyone does vile shit like that, they deserve not to be around anymore. Absolute zero respect for scum like that. Helpful video, cheers.
Thanks for the comment johny
Hey there bud just wondering how the project is holding up ?
Doing well so far. Just wondering what the next breakdown is going to be lol. Seems to be every 1000 miles
Hi what size tyre are you using thanks
They are 155/80r14
Hello i had the same problem. Replaced with a new aftermarket valve, it works for a while. At the moment i'm washing the coolant system but the heater doesn't work (A/C works!). What can be? can the system become blocked for a washing process? i've done it with distilled water and vinegar
Ots very easy to get an air lock in these cars. Might be worth rebleeding the air out of the system
This is exactly what I was looking for. Great tutorial
Thanks for watching
Why did you not fit the water temperature adapter to the back of the head where the heater hose take off point is? Because the rear of the head is where the greatest heat is normally! I mounted all my gauges in the drives side glovebox cover & used copper capillary tubing from the sender unit connection & rolled the tubing around a bottle to take out any vibrations between the engine & the solid chassis! Having all the gauges in the glovebox cover saved my knees in an accident!
Thanks for your comment Dave. My heater valve is seized so there is no flow there but I think when I fix it, that's a good idea to relocate it there. Sorry to hear about your accident
Top tip for a bit more reach in a Midget - fit the wheel to the *back* face of the flange on the boss; it gives about 15mm extra space or if you want to go one step further, you can fit a spacer and longer screws to push it further back. (MotaLita sell spacers/screws intended for bringing the wheel closer to the driver, but these ought to fit the ‘wrong’ side, too) You will obviously need to take the boss off the column to do this, though.
Wow I'd never thought of this! Huge top tip I'll definitely be doing. Thank you
I’ve got a similar one on my midget, at least looks the same. I upgraded from a 12” wheel to a 13” to make the steering lighter, getting older and wrist points getting stiffer. I had to change the hub as well as screw pattern was different.
It is amazing what a difference an inch makes lol
So they say!! 😂😂😂
Nice easy swap. To get a new wheel on an original shaft you need an impact driver and a wheel puller. Its a huge pain because that nut is often stuck, then the wheel ifself us usually stuck to the shaft.
Yeah, thats common on most cars to be honest. A good, careful tap with a hide hammer does wonders for a stuck steering wheel
Nice wheel that. 👍🇬🇧
Thanks 👍
You said 5 litres of ATF, then filled it with a red fluid. You know these use a special fluid that is usually brown and expensive? Lifeguard 6, though Mannol do a good price on an equivalent.
This is the stuff Jaguar sent. Thanks for the tip. I'll use that next time
Why didn't you show exhaust so we could see if white smoke was coming put after fix? Seems a obvious thing to do to.prove it.
Good question Dale. It's because there was still steam in the exhaust from the left over coolant. Don't worry, it cleared after a good blat.
@@MarksWheels right. I'll give it ago
Think you need 3 bottles over 4.0
Thanks for your comment
Great informative video. Can you pre fill the pan with oil prior to fitting if two people work together, one holding it up whilst the other screws in the plastic bolts?
I suppose in theory this would work but you would still need to top the fluid up as it takes alot more fluid that just what the pan holds.
Hi Mark, very useful thanks. Just about to connect in a temp gauge in my ‘62 Moggy. I’m told it’s best to include a voltage stabiliser in the circuit. Is that really necessary?
I haven't used one and don't have any problems. It might be different with a dynamo but im not sure.
Hey Mark, question on the seat belts. I have a rollbar mounted like yours, so the belt needs to be mounted like yours (500/30 ?). Did you find it uncomfortable across your neck? Did it come with the bracket or did you have to request it ? Also were the stalks the correct length ? I know it was a while ago ! Thanks.
Hi, Good question. The seat belts don't feel uncomfortable but that may be because of the mx5 seats I currently have fitted. The belt sits quite high on them when in use. The stalks are perfect
You are a tad picky! This power-washer, or any power-washer, is not designed to clean brake dust off. That takes special sprays and elbow grease. This is for washing cars, caravans, etc. If the hose is too short you could always move the bucket. Surely, the longer the hose comes with a reduction in pressure. And, refilling the bucket isn't that big a chore. Is it? Glad you like it though.
Thanks for the comment. I'm just trying to make a thorough test. I'm very happy with the product and use it often.
this can be the cooler back engine i have the some problem
Thanks for the tip
hello m8 doing mine atm , just going change oil first see what happens , why did you change ALL the solaniods ? is it not possible test indiv and buy individ ?also have you got anyidea how much oil is left inside when you drain ? im at aloss becouse i think theres been a leek over long period . i got only 2lrs out so put 4 litres in then started car went thro jgate then drained again this time 3 and half ltrs came out so at this point wondering how much in there . the cars done 107tho dont know if its been done before didnt smell burnt but looked like deff needed changing . atm ive got p0736, p0706,p0702, so looks like oil change first then start checking if it dosnt work ?
Hi, I changed all the solenoids as it is such a big job, why not do them all while you are there? If you have a leak, depending on where it is coming from, you could need to refill and bleed the system a few times.
Lovely looking V8 250
Yes it really was. Unfortunately not one of mine but maybe one day ;)
I don’t know why you worry about minor trivial things! It’s not as if you have about 300 miles to drive! I drove an old ford prefect 150 miles with no brakes other than the hand brake with lots of steep hills to negotiate down! Just driving gently & not trying to break the sound barrier! I eventually bottom my destination!
Thanks for commenting
Nice work! Always nice to see something new 🙂

Hi I have issue with my 2004 stype gearbox and this could solve my problem, where are you as I'd like you to look at mine, I'm in Tw2 area
My workshop is in Eastbourne BN24
I have a Corsa C diff. Can you please tell me what grease I need. Thanks.
My sympathies lol. Best ask your local factor and they can look up the correct oil from your registration number
Can you clean up the old injectors? ie. place them in a ultrasound bath etc and clean them up? Just a thought experiment.
Possibly but they look a bit too worn out to be honest. They all have a ring around the nozzle that isn't on the new ones.
I'm just doing this on my 2.7d but when filling back with new oil it started running out at about 3.5L or less. I waited a while, tried again but the oil just runs out. I'm afraid there's too little oil in there and will ruin the gearbox if I start the engine... HELP?...
No sounds about right. Most of the fluid stays in the pipework, gearbox cooler etc so although the system takes 8 -10 litres, th sump only holds about half that
Ok, cheers for that! I later realised that the car is maybe not 100% level on its 4 jack stands and possibly leaning a little towards the filling hole side. Later or tomorrow I'll take it down one click on the opposite side to level it better and finish the job (an absolute pain without a car lift). I should have no problems getting the transmission to 30-40 degrees, seeing as it will be 34 tomorrow 😬. Thanks for replying!
@@paulopinheiro7550 No problem
@@MarksWheels Sorry for the delay in coming back. Finished the job! It still took another 2 full bottles before it started dripping out. Got a little worried at some point because, with the car up in stands, there was a clunk when putting it into D... This was much less noticeable after it was on the ground and I can no longer notice it after driving a few 100s of kms. Hit the 200.000 km mark yesterday 🙂 Buttery smooth gear changes, can almost not tell when it does it (not that in changed poorly before, but I bought it with no history about 9 month ago, so this was long overdue. But it's definitely a little better). Now, onto the next issues...: a whine from the rear when the engine is neither pulling the car nor being pulled by it (sort of when the throttle is just keeping up with the car's speed... differential?) and a nasty kinda rumbling + tapping sound from the engine; suspect an exhaust leak at a flexi or thereabouts. Hopefully not something internal; it appears much worse when driving (so, under load) than when just revving in P, so I'm tending to rule out lifters. Thanks again for your input, I'll be sure to nag more about Jag issues 😁!
@@paulopinheiro7550 Engine noise sounds like it could be an exhaust leak. There are a couple of flexi joints before the cat. You can get repair sections for them. The whine probably is the rear differential. Have you changed the oil on it yet?
Will it work with OAT coolant?
No idea to be honest. Probably best to contect the manufacturer
Hello, can you help me? I have a X350 with CD radio and climate with big fan knob. I would like to retrofit the original sat NAV and climate module. Is It possibile? I ser the climate i have has 2 connector therefore the NAV module has 1 connector only. Then I suppose the NAV One used cam like protocol to activate switch and other stuff so I Need some information about It. Can't find much in forums; evryting Is related to s type or x type. Thanx
As far as I am aware, the x, s and xj systems are almost identical apart from the unit itself which varies in a couple of buttons. The info you found for x, s type should also apply
How long does it take for steel seal to work. Used it on my suzuki swift 2008 ,still over heating.
i have a question mate so i don’t know much about cars but where your pouring the steal seel does that have to be empty from any coolant/antifreeze already in there.
No, you just need enough space to get the steel seal in there. I had to drain a little bit out first
Are you supposed to use 2 bottles for a v8?
Not sure. Doesn't say anything about that on the bottle but would make sense
How critical is changing this gasket if very small leak? Would it mean losing a small amount of oil which can be topped up or does it mean it's only a matter of time for a bigger leak and then permanent engine damage from loss of oil?
If it's very small, I wouldn't worry. It's when they start leaking oil onto the exhaust manifold or down the spark plug bores that can make it problem
@@MarksWheels Thanks mate. 👍
Im happy to hear that! How did you reset the adaption values of the gearbox? Jaguar software or aftermarket code reader?
Take the negative terminal off the battery and touch it to the positive terminal for a few minutes. This completes the circuit and allows the ECU memory to clear.
@@MarksWheels Okay i did that too, it resets some data but i think the Adaption Values from the gearbox have to be resettet via software because they are saved in non-volatile memory. I serviced the gearbox of my STR few weeks ago and didn't resettet the adaptions too (only the battery procedure you mentioned) and the gearbox works fine, so its probably not necessary. But correctly resetting it is maybe beneficial in the long run for what i heard in jaguar forums. Maybe thats not true, idk im no expert, but you have great indie jaguar specialist in UK, maybe you can ask them of their opinion and if they do a proper reset for a few bucks :) I dont have this possibility in germany, no much jag specialists in my area :(
