Twilight Princess has, quite possibly, the best Ganon fight to date. HIm possessing Zelda, turning into the dark beast, surviving Midna's attack without a scratch just to come after you immediately with his phantoms, and then the final duel to the death! And even when he's finally down for the count, he still refuses fall and dies on his feet! It really sells what a juggernaut Ganondorf is in a big way, and I love it!

Something I love about the Zelda series is that its endings are nearly always bittersweet. The day is saved, but it's almost never "and everything went back to normal." You're nearly always parting with a dear friend or your old way of life is gone. It's a constant theme of how nothing stays the same, especially for heroes.

    • @juanjosedelpinorivas7099
      @juanjosedelpinorivas7099 2 ปีที่แล้ว +20

I think the only good ending is present in Breath of The Wild, because both Link and Zelda more or less end up together, but knowing there's a sequel coming up this will change dramatically. I really want to see how the people in Hyrule are dealing with Ganondorf after the Calamity, how they see the new Zelda, the Hero...so much entertainment, that's for sure.

The reason why midna shattered the mirror at the end is because she saw the pain and chaos it caused in the world of light. Yeta transforming into a monster got to her, even saying at some point that you two were assembling something that may eventually have to be destroyed. She chose to never see her friends again rather than allow risk others to be hurt by its magic. It was a responsible decision she made after her character development, learning to care for the world of light.

It was a selfless and noble thing she did to help Hyrule, but it was also in vain as the curse of Ganon/Demise is never permanently gone and has been shown to permeate both realms. If Ganon and/or Zant were to return and lay siege to the Twilight Realm, her kingdom would be doomed as the only ones who can stop him can no longer enter her realm.

Well, Zant was able to open portals and send shadow beasts, presumably from inside the Twilight Realm, into the light world. And there's no indication that these portals have closed. Not to mention his fight might not necessarily have been an illusion, maybe he did actually teleport to those places. Maybe Midna could still travel through these portals, or teleport outside somehow, specially with her true form back.
Destroying it was still necessary to prevent it from affecting light world creatures.
The only thing I don't get is how did Zant manage to go back in time and hide one of the mirror pieces in the Temple of Time?? Midna does mention Zant was hiding the pieces... I can't believe he would actually be able to use the Master Sword, which "evil may never touch". Unless ... that mirror had been broken before ... and that piece you get there was from the past ... but why would it break in the exact same way? No, it just doesn't make sense.
EDIT: just saw an interesting theory in reddit that past Temple of Time in TP works in a Timeshift Stone-like mechanic. That would explain it.

What I love about Twilight Princess is that while every Zelda is unique in some way, this one isn't really about standing out as something so new, rather evolve what other entries did, combine the best things and make it an ultimate experience. Although Ocarina of Time being such a great adventure full of great dungeons, items, puzzles and bosses, Twilight Princess managed to beat it for me. Although Majora's Mask being so emotional and psychological throughout whole story and side quests, Twilight Princess managed to build in more bond with characters and story, which for me was even more emotional.
This game is my favourite game of all time, for a long time now, and probably never will it change. I don't know more epic adventure, more emotional flow and honestly I can't even believe they could make such a masterpiece. While I see a lot of people dropping this game cause of graphics, "bad movement mechanics or bad camera mechanics" and stuff like that, I can only pity them for not being able to see the 'light' of the game through these 'shadows'. This game is truly love letter to Zelda franchise, letter that I can't answer with words but tears and gratitude.

Your totally right, TP is quite a polished game - the side errands and collectibles improve on past games, and it implements the weapon techniques like MC had. Tho what would make it unique is its particular atmosphere and an excellent companion. The main couple things I was disappointed about was it not involving its antagonists hardly at all until the very end, nor Zelda much; It seems that in SS they learned from this however (Both Girahim and Zelda (Don't forget GROOSE) are amazing). The other thing is some of the enemy AI and bosses not turning out great at all imo (some were more simple than WW's bosses), tho the overall combat and dungeons were good, better than WW's anyway. Definitely very polished just missing some things to be over-the-top I think.
I'm still deciding whether I like TP or WW more before SS but I like how they all change up your purpose in the story between saving your friend(s)/sister instead of just 'the princess' ya know.

@@tristanjohnson8627 I see where You coming at. For me the bosses of Twilight Princess are awesome, but honestly I don't really seek challenge in Zelda bosses. For me bosses in this series are more about having an idea how to beat them, while challenge is more interesting for me in side quests like very hard thing to do, or the cave of ordeals fe was a fun challenge imo. From the 'idea' perspective, some bosses were standard (hit the eye) while some were very creative. Over that all looked epic and made the atmosphere of boss fight even more justified, while boss theme music ending for final part is incredible and honestly I'm mad they didn't go for it with next installments.
About Zelda and antagonists, I wish Zant was more present in the game I agree here a lot. I'm personally a fan of how Ganondorf was not pressent till the final moment and a cutscene midgame, cause it built this effect of him working from the shadows (ironic) and being also a great tactician. He wanted to be a king of the world, and honestly, this is the first game I see him acting like one. Not being just a bad dude who wants to destroy everything, his actions were showing his purpose.
With Zelda they kinda sacrificed her time to make Midna's story more interesting and make you focus fully on Midna instead which I think paid off at the end, but the side effect is that Zelda in this game is a bit blank character in contrast to every other. Maybe they could serve her better, but I can justify that game design choice to push more into Midna as a character.
Still I think you made fair and good points, I agree with them, just I believe my needs for the game are bit different :D
Also Wind Waker is amazing, I'm not sure if it's my 2nd or 3rd fav. Hopefully DeeBeeGeek plays it soon!

@4valon Gaming Not tryna devalue TP at all, but there were some things it simply fell short in without sacrifice whereas other games might have more issues overall. They seem to be improving though just as developers slowly are with games in general.
Yeah, the game did need an involved villain, kinda like how SS did it, and as for Ganondorf, he shuda definitely had more background to him from Zant maybe for a bit of buildup while retaining the mystery, cuz you hardly know he exists until you meet him; that would have made meeting him a really powerful moment. They're just too arbitrary for a story, especially considering the only other major focus Link had was saving the children which was cool but only lasted a while.
As for the bosses, 3 or 4 were not even good puzzle wise like how WW's were more themed towards. Darbus for example had a really rinse and repeat strategy with no extra kick in another phase, nor a way to realistically damage you 🤣. Actually laughable and only counteracts the whole 'boss' atmosphere a little. If your curious, the others for me were the twilit parasite and sorta the arachnid, and was even expecting more from the dragon.
Tho I do think the minibosses were all really good (besides the toad) and gave you some of the coolest items. Really excited for what changes they come up with for the botw sequel tho, I've never been lurking for info I just wanna see it myself when its done personally -and eventually mod it up for my 2nd-5+th playthrough😁-

    • @4valongaming388
      @4valongaming388 2 ปีที่แล้ว

@@tristanjohnson8627 I can see those points as well. As already said I honestly believe Ganondorf didn't need more showing before we meet him, but also I need to note it's mostly cause as a Zelda player who started with Ocarina of Time, I already knew who it was and it all just connected for me well (it's still kinda a trilogy in some way I guess). Therefore meeting Ganondorf, after not seing him in action for pretty much whole game, felt for me like "this is a serious moment". I feel if he was shown more than the player would be more prepared to fight him, but his absence made the fight itself more interesting (hope that wording made sense). And the fact how many different phases of the fight there were made it a really cool experience on top of it (although I wasn't a fan of puppet Zelda to be honest).
I definitely do agree, that bosses should not only look dangerous but be so. Honestly watching DeeBeeGeek stuggle with the water eel (forgot name) made me realise you can actually take damage from it cuz I never did. So as much as I think it isn't necessarly important for Zelda bosses to be hard, I agree they should still be a threat cause they are bosses. That felt lacking from some. With Armogohma, I actually like the fight but for something different, kind of satisfaction. I could compare it to how ppl think about Skyward Sword's Koloctos, it's just satisfying to beat and I felt even more satisfied to squash the spider with gigantic statue's hands. With Darbus I found it creative to use iron boots this way against boss. But in retrospection I agree to your point they should do more harm and maybe have some twist. Armogohma kinda had a twist, but it was a joke twist instead of fight twist.
About BotW sequel, I wonder.. It would be so cool to have some of the things return. I know how big and beautiful and amazing in game design BotW is.. but there were things always lacking this 'magic' of Zelda franchise for me. After all this time, I love cooking, but I miss collecting rupees and hearts from grass wish they find a way to compromise. Opening chests in BotW is boring, same animation and sound for everything, 20 rupees or freaking fire rod. I want chests to be more meaningful, and I want key items to return, it would work together well. So the chests again would feel like a christmas gift not like a pat on your shoulders that you have to get smth for completing that puzzle.
And mainly, I want those freakin theme dungeons. Although all divine beasts were kinda tematical, it just felt for me like 4 twists of the same dungeon. I hope in sequel you get that unique dungeon designs that stick in your head for long and feel like a completely new experience. I really hope for that.

What I love most about Midna, as your companion in this game, is that she is her own character. She has her own motives and reasons for doing what she's doing and you can really see her develop throughout the game. At first, all she cares about is using Link for her own agenda, not caring about him or about the world of Light at all. But as the game progresses you physically see her attitude change. She becomes determined to save both her world and that of the light. And that, I believe, is most evidenced first by the way she leans on Link with that cocky smirk right before the Ganon fight. They've become true partners and friends by that point, with everything they've been through. And second by her being willing to sacrifice her life in the hopes of destroying Ganon to SAVE EVERYONE. No longer is she the selfish, cares-only-about-her-world figure as she was at the beginning. She's become a true hero alongside Link. This also shows with her very mature decision to destroy the Mirror of Twilight. She made the painful choice of never being able to come back to the world of light, as well as never seeing Link or Zelda again, to prevent anything else that may be lurking in the Twilight Realm from possibly escaping and causing another crisis. It was a decision that she made as the Princess of the Twili, sacrificing her own wants for the good of her people and the people of Hyrule.

Twilight Princess indeed invokes a lot of memories of old games, especially Ocarina of Time. But you know which game is also a love letter to the entire franchise? Breath of the Wild. Although that game breaks a lot of the series' conventions, it also has a crazy amount of callbacks, references, and implications. The references in its story, places, names, characters, items, and music are quite incredible and often quite smart. If you have a chance to revisit Breath of the Wild after finishing your LoZ playthrough, you will know how many easter eggs there are in that game. For that matter, I'm really looking forward to your playing through Wind Waker and Skyward Sword.

Ganondorf fight in WW is better in every conceivable way.
Doomsday deluge vs. blocky force field in Hyrule Field, on a Tuesday.
Ganondorf, robbed of power, decides to murder two minors who only manage to survive via trickery.
It's clear that Link cannot defeat him as Ganondorf us simply the superior fighter. This ups the drama significantly.
Lore from Ocarina of Time is integral to the stakes in the fight. The TP scenario is relatively inelegant and all over the place.
      Better music.
      Better ending blow.

Twilight Princess was my first ever Zelda game and I have such a deep love, appreciation and emotions for it. To each unique characters dungeons, stories and the main plot and the cross of Twilight and the Light realm it makes a perfect game in my opinion! The feeling that are developed between Link and Minda leads up to such a sad but beautiful ending and my heart gets torn every time I see the ending clip. The music is by far my #1 game soundtrack of all time because it brings beautiful lightly orchestrated music to dark, deep even fast pass emotionally twisted music and I fully appreciate it every time I listen. Even though it hadn't gotten a sequel to Twilight Princess I can proudly say as a fan of this fantastic game that I was practically fully satisfied with everything the game offered experience wise. Thanks so much Deebeegeek for playing this game I loved seeing you appreciate it and sharing a mutual love for Twilight Princess with all of your viewers/fans including I! Anyways I hope everyone who reads this has a wonderful day or night! 💜

Gonna throw this out there for you real quick, recall that quest from Breath of the Wild where you had to take pictures of pieces of a monument that had been broken and thrown around the beach. Go take another look at those pieces when you get a minute.

What a brilliant ending to such a fantastic game! Thank you for playing this and allowing us to relive the experience alongside you. When you mentioned the references TP has to past games, that made me so excited for when you play Skyward Sword, which I experienced for the first time recently. There is still so much adventure waiting for you.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, your playthroughs always light up my day, especially the Zelda ones. I can't wait to see where your journey takes you next. Wind Waker is my favourite Zelda, and I am looking forward to seeing it again through your eyes. Thanks for the amazing videos Dee and for just being you.

Games don't make me emotional but for some reason this game hits hard
That part in the middle with Midna dying and the ending....crazy emotion and not a word spoken. This is the game that perfected all the classic Zelda themes and locations

Congratulations on yet another Zelda victory DeeBeeGeek! Another Zelda game beaten! I found your channel with your Breath of the Wild playlist and I'm super glad I did. You are one of the most entertaining and genuine TH-camrs around. I don't have a Twitch account but I might make one by the time Tears of the Kingdom launches.
Now all there's left to do is finish Skyward Sword! And you might want to try any of the 2D Zelda's or Hero Mode as well. Good luck!

59:00 'I've realised 'til now you start by learning the Ending Blow as your first sword skill, and it's that skill precisely the one you use as the final hit to end the game, what a foreshadow fact, never imagined I'd end the game using that skill when I learned it for the first time.

I have said it once, and I will say it again. I love this game, not for it's dark edgy-ness or it's gameplay. But for it's characters and the bonds that they build as the story goes on.
This game is one of the Zelda games where Link is his own character, not just the "link" between the play and the game. But his own person, with emotions. He may not actually speak, but you understand him and how he feels. The relationship he has with every character he meets, can been seen on his face.
He is a masterpieces of art and expression. And I love how they managed to capture so much with his face.
Midna is an amazing character. Everyone says she is the best companion, and she is. But honestly, she is the main character of this story in my opinion.
She goes from being a seemingly self-serving, bullltlying little beast. To a true hero that is willing to sacrifice herself for both worlds.
She is an amazing example of character development.
I love Collin's little arc. He is a easily pushed around little wimp at the beginning of the game. That wants to be like Link in being a farmer. He doesn't want to be a swordsmen like his father because he doesn't understand, or believes that he is strong enough. But he finds his courage. Saves Beth. And in the credits you see him acting as an armed guard for the wagon as they return home. He has come into his own, and has earned the others respect, but more has found respect in himself.
I love how Zant, betrayed by his supposed god is the one that truly ends Ganon seemingly as a devine prank.
I could go on forever probably about this game, and all of the characters and the story built around them. It is my favorite game. But I will end this here.
I am glad you enjoyed it so much. And look forward to the next Zelda you play.

Love how he keeps saying. The compass I never use. But in turn it's just an automatic thing cause it shows you all the chest and stuff on the map nothing more really.

1:07:40 Remember what they said ? Only the true ruler of the Twilight can destroy the mirror. Xant was only able to shatters it in 4 pieces. Yet Midna was able to completely destroy it.
    :)
