LOL I literally rewatched your "Why Speedrunners CANT Break Twilight Princess" video today and was thinking I need more Twilight Princess speedrunning videos.
We may not be able to skip the barrier, but we can skip around half of the requirements for the barrier to be broken.
The problem with the horseback riding section isn't that Zelda misses, it's that the game doesn't tell you what zeldas aim is based on.
you just have to tailgate ganon, the game makes it pretty obvious lol
@@novakaiser7949 To be more precise, you need to have your analog stick POINTING IN GANON'S DIRECTION, and that's never explained, which leads to all those misses.
There isn't a single horseback battle in the game where the direction of the analog stick influences on your attacks, it's a mechanic introduced only in the final battle and isn't properly conveyed. You're told to "target him and keep him within range of my arrows!"
Well, I'm targeting Ganon, I'm right besides him, yet Zelda keeps misfiring. That's because I'm trying to stay parallel to him or avoiding terrain obstacles or even Ganon's ghosts, but that's the wrong way to do this. But how am I supposed to know this if the game never told me that and has put me in a situation where failure is punished by loss of hearts and making Link fall from the horse, which puts Ganon in an advantageous position to summon his ghosts and charge at me from the front again? Players will naturally try to be more cautious and keep Epona a bit away, maybe parallel to Ganon, just close for Zelda to fire at him, but that means the stick is pointing at the wrong direction and so is Zelda!
I'm sorry, it's just poorly conveyed design.

10:13 I grew up on Ocarina of Time, I fully accept that the bottle is the best item in the game.
Majora's Mask has some bottle goofiness, but Ocarina of Time has way more. Enough that I'm not sure I'd want to do a glitched rando for it.

Very interesting run! I cant believe that oil lamp glitch doesnt allow us to skip the barrier to hyrule castle somehow, looks so powerful.
I believe it's because there's nowhere to void or clip OoB at Castle Town
@@thesuperMasterSword It's not even that. It's because basically every loading trigger behind a door is triggered by the act of opening the door. If you cannot open a door, you cannot load the next room/area. This is why there is only a single boss key skip in the game, Lakebed Temple, because it is the only loading trigger that is not tied to a door and is always active because of it. Though Castle Town does have a bunch of invisible walls in the out of bounds to keep you from getting near it on top of the guards standing in front of it.
@KaguyaEne Interesting, I knew that was the case with Wind Waker, but I couldn't remember if it was also the case for TP. And then the door to Hyrule Castle is slightly different in that you have to push it like opening other doors.
Admittedly after writing the previous post I began to wonder if the loading trigger would even extend down far enough to trigger it even if you could clip OoB lol.

This video is so well made! I like the comparisons with the SD version and how everything around is visually presented. Every step well explained, no boring waiting sequences or suchlike. 10/10 TP HD speedrun explained 👏👏👏
Ah YES THANK YOU I tried that trigger skip in City in the Sky to avoid activating the fan and I GOT IT. I’ve never used a glitch in a game before, felt good.
Still haven’t gotten the hang of boomerang long jumps though 🤔

One of the things I really appreciate in this vid is the white timestamp numbers that appear when you're skipping through the gameplay video in little bits. I would totally have been super confused whether it was just a part of the game or what if those weren't there. Very helpful and convenient to my brain 👍

3:58 I seem to be the only advocate for the Tears collection quest to remain the same.
There are clever usages of the level design and game mechanics (like going through the rooftops of some houses and knocking down on furniture to find the bugs) that go unused in the HD version.

Twilight princess is one of my favorite games of all time, this makes me want to try and learn the glitches. I actually really enjoyed the long tear collection quests, it was a good way to learn the area.
This brings back memories of when I ran TP back in 2013. I did No Save & Quit so the early part i'm very familiar with. Also with the 12 second Ganondorf i'll never be able to enjoy that epic sword fight ever again lmao

Well made video, Linkus! Just enjoyed the entirety of this video but something seemed a bit off. While going into the dark palace of Zanto, the video goes directly to the boss instead of explaining the interior of the dungeon. Maybe there is nothing special to explain, so I am wondering.

So, in theory, if someone were to do the wii version (the one that's flipping horizontally), would want to follow the gamecube route, the wii U route or is it its own beast?
its own thing because the wii version is the only version you cant use the boomerange to long jump attack (LJA)
Wii also has some performance improvements over gamecube. In some catagories you need to look down in GC to reduce lag, no such need in the wii version. Wii also allows 4 items to be equiped so that changes menuing slightly

@@HATER_.-._-.-_.-..-_-..-.-..-3 no its completely reversed. Anything that's on the left in gamecube and wii u is on the right in wii and vice versa. Also a couple other subtle differences that other comments have pointed out.
@@blakdeth Yes, I’m aware the wii has a reversed screen to accommodate with the wii controls. But other than that it is virtually identical to the GameCube version of the game.

The differences that I have noticed between the three platforms (gamecube, wii, wiiu) by comparing two walkthroughs and the gamecube version are that on the gamecube and wii, there are more tears to collect than on the wiiu version, and on the wii version some rooms and overworld areas are mirrored horizontally on the map (but not all, for some reason)
The Wii is mirrored because most people hold the wiimote which mimics Link's sword in their right hand

No he isnt? The creator confirmed in an interview that TP link is 17, which normally wouldnt change your joke at all, but that being said we dont know Midna's age, it's more likely shes the same age as both Zelda and Link since she is a young ruler who was only just about to be given her crown in the twilight realm, hence the title of this game "twilight princess".

Are there any significant differences between the Gamecube and the Wii version for speed running? I imagine the different controls would lend themselves to some different glitches but maybe they are just too similar?
Wii is basically the same from what I've seen, except they can't do any glitches involving LJA

@@Physicus9they can still do lja glitches as far as I know just not as many I think essentially the boomerang long jumps only work if it targets something as opposed to being able to do it above void outs etc.
Man as a playstation guy this was the only game I played outside of re4 on the Wii and I loved every second it was such a good game

The only issue I see here, is that since I haven't really played TP, sometimes you skip parts that are trivial, but if you had used fast forward to go there, rather than time jumps, it could have been easier to grasp those.
