Wow! To turn a $100,000 automobile into an extraordinarily beautiful 2 ton paperweight in under 10 seconds has to be a record.
An ugly car into a useless ugly car.

I'm pretty sure it's not a dead engine after this. I once hit a deep waterhole in France with my ktm and the engine was soaked full with water everywhere. Nothing was damaged at all. The problem with a modern car are the electronics which die immediately in water

I picked up an M3 couple of years ago, 2003 model. It had been standing for two weeks at a BMW dealer. Took ages to get it going and then the revs were up and down for five minutes before they settled, with so many lights on the dash it was like Blackpool illuminations. Too complex, too problematic running a car like that. I didn’t keep it.
Epic fail. What an utter tool.
In a modern car always drive through water slowly. Most intakes are as high as the manufacturers can get them under the front lip of the bonnet. If you create a bow wave that starts to come over the bonnet, lift off, stop, and let it idle. One has to remember that the air cleaner box will probably be brimmed with water and when you drive out it will get tipped into the engine as you climb out of the ford.
Most modern cars are designed to allow water to easily flood over the bonnet, obviously to minimise water resistance.
Did it in a 1998 V6 VT Commodore. Yes water over the bonnet. Didn’t hydro locked the engine but cracked 3 spark plugs and filled the air filter with mud.
Just don’t drive through that much of water lol
I feel like backing up would be better except it won't get as much speed or control
Why, it's a dead 840i now!
Love how you run up to everybody and laugh in their faces and joke about it😂
One of the reasons our premiums have all increased
Insurance won't cover this.

@gbw28 doubt it will bother them that much. Prob get insurance again, just at higher inflated cost. Doubt that is an issue.
@@gazdkw82 what I mean is no insurance cover for this incident.
@gbw28 oh yeh, I see what you mean. I agree he will struggle to get the payout on this
Omg… the guy at the end… why do you keep cranking and potentially doing more and more damage?!
Because the sound of hydrolock is similar to the sound of fuel starvation or ignition failure. If you don't know what it sounds like and you miss the initial clunking, you really can't tell. Well, except for the fact that you just drove through a bunch of water.
I dunno I'm just trying to understand why they do it in the first place. What is it that makes people floor it going through water in the first place? Maybe they think the faster they go through it the quicker it will be over. And in that, they would be right!
@@captainotto haha! It is indeed over quickly if they go quick. I think most people view a car as something they put fuel in to go places, and don’t really understand that it has an intake. They don’t understand the intake is usually at the front and creating a wave that goes over the bonnet would cause water to go into it. Then they have no understanding of physics so wouldn’t know water was practically incompressible so bend piston rods

Right, if I'd seen the water there, I'd have turned around and looked for another way around
Any insurance should refuse to pay for this level of stupidity
They always refuse. Their disclaimer is that the maximum Wading Depth is given in the owners Manual. You cannot claim static flood damage either because they look for signs of high-level interior water ingress.
@@paulkane6645very interesting. Thanks
