    unvaluable! I am reviewing my crossovers because I have issue with the side swing cross. Btw, how bad an idea it would be to start with the Mayweather hug cross deserves its own vid.

      Hey, thanks Dominique.
      The hug variation is a bit different from the Mayweather version. For instance, the hug variation often involves crossing the arms higher up the body and changes the angle of the crossing motion. One similarity though is that Mayweather does tend to turn his hands over when crossing the rope.

    This is the most informative tips on doing cc. You have eyes on details. I do jump ropes 3-4 days a week, around 15-20 minutes each session. I do not feel any pain when doing some movements but not for run-in-place (alternate leg). Once I do this I would feel pain in my leg. Do you have any idea why? I always do warm out before and after exercise. Thank you.

    Hey Andrew,
    These are some great tips! Would this also apply to cross over double unders? Also should forearms be slanted towards ground or parallel?

    • @thewayofthejumprope
      @thewayofthejumprope  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you William.
      Ideally yes, the same mechanics apply to more advanced variations like double and triple under crossovers. However, form invariably becomes less cohesive.
      As for arm angle, a 45ish degree angle works well for most, somerimes even less, that is, aiming closer in front of the body particularly if your rope is not too long.
      See for a few minutes from 13:34 for angle discussion.
      And take a look at this short clip and notice the arm angle and form when doing even a triple under crossover;it’s not as cohesive given the complexity of the move but still still trying to apply the same principles: m.th-cam.com/video/JEQ4muqtYRQ/w-d-xo.html

    Very good tips man, I'm having trouble with my CC too. I feel the quality of the rope matters too, some gets tangled easily or doesnt untangle fast enough when u uncross.

    • @thewayofthejumprope
      @thewayofthejumprope  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you Laurens. Stick with it and soon enough you'll be doing them well.
      You're right, rope quality can have some affect. For instance, a rope that is too or that is wearing down where the rope makes contact with the ground is more likely to twist and tangle.

      Yeah I agree. My favorite pvc ropes are from jumpropesports. They are slightly heavier than most, do not stretch and flex less which help to slow down when learning. The only drawback is that they get quite rigid below 5 C.

    is it better to do with the weighted rope r the speed rope for trying cc for beginers ?

    • @thewayofthejumprope
      @thewayofthejumprope  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Good question. A speed rope could be easier to execute because they tend to be very thin and easier to jump over. However, they are very light. There isn’t as much feedback compared to thicker ropes. Thicker and heavy ropes provide more feedback and can be good for timing jumps. Too heavy though and users might use too much arm movement to spin the rope. Also, hitting yourself with a heavier rope will cause a bit more pain.
      I tend to jump with 5mm pvc ropes, sometimes 6mm. A 6mm rope provides a nice amount of feedback wthout being heavy.

How long and how often do you train/skip per day ? Also what is the best weight of rope for a beginner?
