Here is me testing this scope in the day then the night time

80 mm under heavily light-polluted sky has indeed only a limited use. Great for Moon, but even Jupiter usually requires more aperture to see finer details. My urban/suburban sky transits from bortle 7 in north-east to bortle 5-6 in south-west, and my 80mm achro shows me for example very fine hint of the Rosette nebula when I use O-III filter, but only in the better part of my sky, while in the worse part of the sky there is absolutely no chance even with my 6 inch newtonian.
True I used to own maybe two years ago or maybe it was three years ago the sky watcher 80 mm ED pro, which was the gold version of the evostar
Jupiter was pretty good in it but yes, when I really want to see good views, I pull out my larger scopes, but somebody looking at just quick grabbing Geo views or maybe for the starting person might be good
Thanks for watching. Cheers.
I think its the greatest as a first telescope, or as a grab and go.
Oh for sure and I bet you some people already use it for travel already. Thanks for watching.
Looks like a great scope for the money.i noticed no ca at all in your images.hope svbony send you more goodies to test.
You're right Joe, I still love my Meade 4000 series.
Thanks for the comment. Yes, I agree. I still love mine and are still excellent quality. I did in the past. Compare them to the Nagler and didn’t see any difference.
But unfortunately, me never made any good eye pieces after this
Would be nice to see a side by side comparison with other scopes :)
That’s actually already coming the next Scope that’s coming out next week is the sky watcher equinox which is actually a better grade than the sky watcher ED model so I’ll do a couple videos of that one
One is an overview of what it is
Then I’ll take that one outside and will observe a little bit with that and then finally the third one I will do these two scopes side-by-side
However, I am not 100% sure the last one when I compare them side-by-side might be on my members or my patriot video I’m not 100% sure yet
I do have regular videos for the public and then I have regular videos that I put on the Patreon members only and I have to put some videos on there
No one would pay to be on on there, so I do have a few good videos like the tak 128 is on there the Takahashi 1021 video is on there as well as well as the Tel Aviv 85 one of the three videos is on there as well
So stay tuned and I’ll see what I can do
A very interesting small ED refractor, especially because of it’s low price.
Yeah, I agree for its price and what it comes with if I was looking for an 80 mm ED I would probably buy it but most likely I would probably go for the 102 version. Which I’m hoping they lend me next.
Though it is no 16" Dobsonian, I love mine. Very good for deep space celestial photography for very little money. For Luna and planetary work, I use my 6" SCT.
OK I understand I guess in this hobby, everything can be so personalized and individual, and there could be 100 different ways to observe
If that’s what you find great then yeah then keep doing that or using that. Cheers.
Hey Joe! I think that scope might be under mounted lol!!
At least this time they can’t say my mount is under mounted lol yes
It would be great as small travel scope.
How do you think it would compare to the Skywatcher 80mm ED FPL53, which you tested a few years ago ?
I do not have the sky watcher evostar but my fiancé by fluke in a trade for her William optics 110, which I also reviewed a few months back she was traded her William optics for the sky watcher equinox
The equinox has the same optics as the evostar but with better accessories and better machines so was an actual bit more expensive telescope, so I will try to compare it with this in the future very soon
Interesting video. So it's maximum magnification without losing image quality was around 180-200x ?
Well, I took it up to 233 power and the image was pretty good. It did break down a little bit but again Jupiter so far away that I can’t say for certain that if Jupiter was at its closest point or opposition if it would’ve been still a good image.
So what I can say is for the price points and all the features I think it’s a good quality for the price for sure
@@JoeJaguarI have the 102 mm ED Svbony version, I was wondering if it makes sense to buy a 3mm or 3.2mm eyepiece for 238x or 223x. Right now the highest magnification eyepiece I have is a 4mm one, 178x.
@@3dfxvoodoocards6 I think you’re 102 can go to those powers not a problem, but it’s probably gonna be more on the moon and planets
The other thing is I don’t know how steady you’re atmospheric seeing is compared to mine in Toronto Canada even though the light pollution is huge I always notice is steady where I am and that’s why I normally can push up to three or 400 depending on what telescope I’m using where other parts of the world people can’t
Both times when I visited Mexico with my fiancé Angeles I noticed by the ocean where we were it seems to be a lot more windy and I’m not talking about a little bit a lot
On our first trip actually knocked my telescope and Tripod right down so in that case, I wasn’t even able to do anything that night
I say, give it a try
Also, I’m hoping they lend me the 102 next and you might like it since you have it
@@JoeJaguarwith the 4mm eyepiece 178x it looks excellent on the Moon and Jupiter but of course only when the atmospheric conditions allow it :)
It similar like a lot of the 80ed,almost identical ota, same specs but svnony being better priced.I have purchased a number of svbony products and have been very pleased with their quality
you must be SO excited about the eclipse on Monday!!!
It’s actually been big news for about two years well really maybe we’ve been waiting for two years the talking is started but something that hasn’t happened in Toronto since 1993 and the next one will be like 2045
Like. Yes Jupiter is no where near as bright as it was in late 2023. It’s maybe half as bright as it was in November 2023.
Yeah it’s not too bad in the eyepiece quality but the cell phone just can’t capture as good but I’m expecting it would do pretty good if it was near opposition. Cheers.
I have the 80mm Skywatcher ED and while the optics are very good it is way too small for astronomy. Especially für Planets i recommend at least 6 inches.
Thank you for your comment and watching the video. I agree with you for the starting off people maybe the 80 would be OK to start but eventually they want to go a little bit bigger like you say 6 inches
