Road skin much better than my hood jeans and I thought they were the dogs when I first got them

I ordered some Hoods a couple of years ago, wore them once and literally binned them. The cut was so poor that Mrs RM burst out laughing when she saw them :(

Another great vid! I ride mostly in the NE of Scotland and its cold, pretty much all year. My Dianese Jacket is my go to unit; its a trail based coat and a little longer than a cafe type jacket, think Belstaff Trailmaster but a little shorter. Gloves, Held are great but I have found Lee Parks, the best glove I have ever used in three decades of riding. Boots, as much as I liked my Sidis, my Daytonas are the best. Love them. Dainese leather pants with armour go with the jacket. As for lids, just Arai, my recent helmet that I too use on my Speed Twin is a Kenny Roberts Rep. Add in a Dainese mid-layer with socks and I am done. Although just today after yet another cold ride I ordered a Keis heated vest.

You should try the Klim Marrakesh jacket and pants. More ventilated than a mesh, lighter, softer, but way better protection vs a full mesh.

Love the kit! As a beginner I've only just accrued my Oxford boot, Oxford jeans and mesh jacket with Oxford laminated jacket & pant. 3 pairs of Richa gloves for summer, autumn and winter. Shoei Neotec 2 which feels amazing compared to the hundred other lids I tried on. I'm sure you'll love the Neo3!!
I'm like a walking advert but I've tried many many others that did not fit me and similar prices.
    Keep them coming RM.

I bought some Roadskin jeans last year, using your discount code. They are as comfortable as regular jeans, but feel very secure and are in a different league to Draggin or Hood. I match them with a very basic Klim gore-tex jacket that has loads of vents and some lightweight Daytona boots.

Phew, always a bit nerve wracking when you recommend stuff, tbh. Glad you’re happy with them. I tried some Hood jeans, but Mrs RM hated the cut, so they went in the bin🙁

Hi from Sweden. As I started out in the seventies I´ve ridden a lot with normal clothes, although with a leather jacket on top (for style). Used to have skiing gloves and graduated soon from sneakers to hiking boots. After I got too old for vanity reasons I´ve started to use gear that is meant for biking. A GoreTex jacket, riding jeans, leather boots (some no-name brand but they are tripleA), decent gloves (two pairs one for hot, one for cold) and a Nolan and a HJC full face helmet. As our riding season is short due to the weather gear tends to be added more than replaced so some of my stuff is more than 10, maybe even 15 years old. Will propably need to replace the jacket, I bought it from a stall at the Helsinki MC Fair in 2008 or 2009 and the seams are starting to give up but I only paid 60 euros for it so it can be considered a bargain. I ride a Vulcan, and mostly have saddle bags on the bike so rain gear is mostly with me although I stop and find shelter as soon as I can when the weather acts up. But in colder weather the rain gear acts as extra layer and it is good to keep the windchill away so that is why I have it with me. This has worked very well for me but there is nothing wrong with buying the expensive stuff if you can afford it and like the looks and-or feel. But everything that works is fine, main thing is to keep riding for as long as we are able to!

In Thailand: Roof Boxer V8 every day for me; I used to have an Icon Contra Mk1. In Portugal: some French jacket, forget the name.
I like that Roadskin jacket. Ditto the stretchy jeans. I wear Reurgence Gear New Wave in both countries. TCX Air Boots in Thailand. Some other make in Portugal. Racer mesh gloves in both countries. Nick

Interesting choices, I liked most of your kit, but I just could not wear a non full face helmet, I alway have white helmets and have no problems in high heat, but I totally understand living in Portugal it makes sense. I just bought a Klim Marrakesh jacket and it is very comfortable, coupled with a Scott waterproof/breathable jacket on top I am good for 9 months of the year, I add my heated Warm and safe heated shirt for the really cold rides.

I have years of buying expensive technical fabric kit which always failed after a couple of years then I bought Merlin waxed cotton, a game changer for living/riding in Britain where it's wet and cold for 6 months of the year. Not a drop of water has got through the jacket or matching wax cotton trousers and I've had them for 3 years not even re-waxed them yet either ,you can stuff your Ruker,Klim type kit for 1/3 of the price I'm as dry as a bone. Hot summer weather I have a Revit vented mesh type jacket and Pando Moto jeans .Boots either my Altbergs for winter or Revit boots for summer both match both my bikes perfectly Guzzi v85tt and Triumph scrambler 900. Gloves,Gold Top bobber the best fitting gloves I've ever had and lasted the longest too I have 3 pairs in different colours not expensive but bloody lovely and soft. Helmet, schuberth E1 ,the best helmet I've owned too, used to have Arai or Shoei but this is just all day comfort and quiet. After 25 years of riding I have found what actually works and it's never the expensive kit you think it might be

Im looking into a pair of riding jeans as we are about to start the hot and humid South Florida summer (March-December)... are the Roadskin jeans an option for you in deep summer where you are? Or would you stick with mesh?

    • @RocketMan_Moto

Mesh will offer a bit more ventilation, but the Roadskins are very comfortable and not *too* hot😊

I love all things Revit, being very tall it really seems they design trousers, jeans and jackets for me. Apart from that I’m a huge fan of the Knox Urbane Pro jacket/shirt. AA, good armour all around and fully mesh it’s great on a summers day and because it’s so slim you can just use a regular jacket (or gillet) on top to take care of wind, rain or chill. If I could have only one jacket that’d be it I think.

@@RocketMan_Moto It’s a trick piece of kit. If I’d live in your parts I’d try and get the silver one but for me black works well. My favourite thing is to put it under an old Barbour jacket for the classic look. Nomad Sweden uses his as his armour for European tours, just layer up on the outside which saves a lot of weight and volume.

    • @RocketMan_Moto
      @RocketMan_Moto  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Thanks. I can't say I'm that interested in airbags, tbh. Of course, they provide excellent protection (I imagine...), but I just accept the risks inherent to motorcycling. Hope you never have to use your airbag for real ;)

Nice to see your kit and the readons behind it. Since youre roughly the same height as me (im 6'3" and i bought them in long) id be interested to know if yiu find the knee armour in the roadskins rides up your legs. I find it sitting mostly on my thighs when im riding, ive enev swapped it for D3O Ghost L2 and unpicked the middle of the bottom of the pockets so it drops down another inch or so, but it never feels like its covering my knee properly. I dont ride a sports bike somits not like my legs are bent back that much either.
I still wear them all summer, just dont quite feel 100% confident when I do.

Open face. Went back to it 2yrs ago after many years using a Shark flip up. So light. So much vision. Full face visor means warm when cold, too. ( Shark Nano)
    Like the Segura jacket.
To be honest I wouldn't wear flip flops and shorts, but I wonder if we've gone ott with protection? Biking carries an inherent risk.
    Ride safe 👍

In an earlier life I was a police officer and part of that time as a motorcycle patrol officer. I have seen some ghastly motorcycle accidents. Some of them were fatal and you don’t want to hear about those. Curiously I have noticed that in most motorcycle wrecks, the feet are the first to go. I mean, they get, in some cases, shredded. My advice is to always wear sturdy boots when riding. I wear Redwing Iron Rangers and I really recommend that you always get lace up boots of whatever you fancy. Anything slip-on flies off.
I live in Sacramento California which gets up to 46°C or 114°F in the summer which is bloody hot. I generally escape to the mountains when it gets that hot but I wear all the gear, all the time.
      Riding since 1973.
