That chicken looks great. IMHO, I would have seasoned the end side too. I love my air fryer. I have a newer version with a rotisserie built-in. I can get about a 3.5 lbs bird max on my rotisserie.

I'm making this recipe for a 2nd time today. 1st time was literally the best whole chicken we've made for our family of 5 before. The sheer simplicity of this recipe when compared to the intensity of flavor is truly remarkable. Thank you Coit for this recipe video that will be a new staple for our household moving forward. Bravo!

May I ask, for a family of 5, how big was your chicken and how long did you cook it please?

    • @nopenope2632
      @nopenope2632 ปีที่แล้ว

We ended up using a 4-5 lb. chicken. I've made it a few more times since then and I've found that the closer to 5 lbs. you get you may need to cook for a little longer. For example the chicken which was between 4 & 4.25 lbs. took roughly the 1 hour (30 minutes per side) that is mentioned in the video and the online recipe. The chickens that were between 4.75 & 5 lbs. however, took around an extra 15 minutes to cook through completely in our air fryer. @@annn8389

@@annn8389 little be to late 😂 1 year after.... for 2 adults 3 small children 1 chicken will probably do the trick. But to be safe do 2 chickens that way you could have leftovers. 1 hour for each chicken then you could just put it to reheat in the microwave or oven.

Extremely flavorful and extra crispy skin. Great idea starting it with the breast down so the juices run to the breast before flipping it to get the extra crispy skin. It was so juicy and so delicious, my new favorite way to prepare whole chicken.

I completely understand breast side down first, but watching the video, you did breast side up first. Am I the only one that noticed that ? Other than that great video ~

Why didn't you let the chicken sit for half an hour with the seasoning on it and let it come to room temperature? All win-win, the chicken gets infused with the season and the cook is better.

So appreciate the chicken lost its life to feed me. Use all the nice meat for meals, scabby bits for the dogs, bones for stock which makes a nice veg soup and the stock residue (cracked bones, etc,,,) out in the fields for the badgers and foxes. No waste. The poor thing died to feed me so no waste.... Thankyou Mr Chicken.....

Just use those blue disposable gloves they sell at Target. I use them for any heavy “food touching” recipes. Like meatballs, cookie dough, sometimes even when I have to touch raw onions
I agree, breast side down, then flip. My air fryer has a rotisserie spit feature, so I would use that method

Don't worry about taking your protein out of the fridge to bring it to room temp before cooking. Numerous reputable websites, from America's Test Kitchen to Serious Eats, have debunked that commonly held belief. It makes absolutely no difference in the end result.
One other thing to do is to cut up a small onion along with a stalk of celery and stuff that in the cavity of the bird. It will add a lot of flavour to the finished chicken.

Just my 15-year-old son and I are eating it. I will let you know how mine turns out. I'm so impressed with how your chicken turned out! A yogurt marinade and honey mustard spice were used to marinate my chicken. I'm hoping mine turns out as good as yours, but if it doesn't, I'll just blame it on the air fryer! I stuffed the cavity with an onion. I made extra rub and reserved some of it to baste the chicken at the beginning point of cooking and also when I flipped it over. I also added some rosemary and poultry seasoning to the rub. We don’t eat the skin so I carefully applied the rub underneath the skin as much as possible. This was our first whole chicken done in the air fryer - absolutely outstanding!!

I think your comment about touching the chicken was 1: hilarious! 2: I totally agree on your way of trying to get people to view the chicken. Yeah that little guy gave his life so you can eat. The least you could do is touch it and give it a nice little oiled up massage to cover all his parts in the marinade before you fry it. I know a lot of people like that as well. Heck some are the same way with beef. Like they are going to get radiation poisoning or something from touching raw meat :D I cant imagine some people surviving 100 years ago. Great video though the chicken turned out great!

LOL... "afraid to touch chicken..", "I HATE when people use fractions of teaspoons", o.O *common sense is a flower that doesn't grow in everyone's garden* , eh?
    1) you could either wear disposable gloves, or wash your hands properly afterwards.
    2) you have a set af measuring spoons, right? So, where is the problem with using 1/4 teaspoon??
I just can assume that some people's life must be incredibly stressful when simple things like the forementioned throws them off their tracks.

Lots of easy fun. Well done. I’d have thought about aromatics or lemon in the cavity as an option

Thanks for this recipe. Curious if I can remove the tray so my chicken fits in it better. I had been cutting the back off, but don't like doing that.

YOU DONT NEED TO FLIP IT ,CAUSE THE AIR FRYER, CIRCLULATES THE AIR ROUND THE AIR FRYER EQUALLY WHEN ITS IN THERE😮‍💨😮‍💨😮‍💨😒😒🤣🤣🤣🤣

I don’t know where you get your cooking times and temperature setting but I have the same air fryers as you and there is no way I would serve anyone an uncooked
chicken for one hour at 350 I had to put mine back in at 400 degrees and continue cooking for an additional half hour per side Be careful people what you watch on you tube

TH-cam reaches people around the world, either put in the description or say quickly the temperature in Celsius please it makes me withhold the like and subscribe if I have to make calculations for every vid

Looks awesome, but I would just suggest showing you checking the internal temp to help ppl see that it’s important to check that before serving..

I eat chicken all the time, but I find the phrase "this animal gave its life" a bit weird. We killed it for food, because we reared it for food and that's okay to say.
    Good recipe though.

I have the ninja 2 basket as well, I was worried the basket wouldnt be large enough for a whole chicken. Do you recall roughly how much your chicken weighed?
