Sure nuff nothing wrong with a young doe. I grew up with our deer field dressing 180-215 lbs-N.E.Mo.-but I always got a good laugh from the Conservation Officer running the check-in station when he seen what I was taking home. 3 deer standing together, fine buck, old doe, and a doe the size as you harvested, I'm dropping the small doe.
You're right about to many does the bucks don't travel in the rut. Every farm tag on all our families' properties had to be a doe, that was a set in stone agreement with those of us that hunted. State tag, drop what you wanted, but the farm tags were doe only.
