Excellent list here Liam. These are all collection worthy. Beyond Belief is defiantly underrated and over looked. Gorefest - False is outstanding. Saw them on this tour , still have the shirt and all these years later it still fits me. Here are some 10 sophomore releases that I also find essential.

Great video mate & quite a few I’m actually not that familiar with! I’ve never heard ‘Ahab’! I have heard ‘Firespawn’ & what I heard sounded brilliant… but I don’t own anything by them… yet! ‘False’ is a masterpiece… absolutely love that record! Always good to see a video from you chief!🤘🏻

Everytime you show one of those Firespawn albums I go on the hunt! Those things never surface on US distros. Same with the Beyond Belief stuff.
The Below album art is impressive! I need to check those guys out.

Great picks here mate. I was at that Damnation Festival that year. Missed Bolt Thrower as I had to get the train, but I also opted for Ahab over CC. Unbelievable band. Divinity of Oceans is outrageously underrated

False is a very special album for me, it was one of the first ‘underground’ death metal albums I bought back in late 1992, after being blown away by The Glorious Dead on the Death is Just the Beginning 2 comp. Hearing that song kick off the album immediately takes me back to that time!
Good to see some love for Beyond Belief. Rave the Abyss just shades it over the debut for me, but I missed the accordion 😉

I loved your selection! I've learned a lot of bands I've never heared of either. And love that you mentioned Swallow the Sun, they are an excellent band.
I like to pull out the less mentioned bands as it makes it more fun for the viewer. Glad you found something new on here. Swallow the Sun are fantastic as well as the side projects they are in. 🤘🍻🤘

Those were unusual picks for Ahab and Swallow The Sun favorites indeed. For me what comes to mind is one my favorite albums ever - Motorhead's second "Overkill"
The Ahab one was the first I ever heard by them and it's stuck ever since. Swallow the Sun, for me has their best songs on that album. Overkill is a brilliant album. Still a classic for me 🤘🍻💀
Great sophomore album picks Liam! I need to check out some Mortician, Evile did a covered them on Hell unleashed, that's where I first discovered them. Firespawn sounds cool, I should enjoy them. Same goes for Gorephilia, they sound right up my street! I have listened to bits of Gorefest, I think I've heard some songs from that album, I need to listen to them more. Anything with Halford on vocals is an instant NO for me! 😂😂

Cheers Josh, ah man Halford is the metal god! Wayyy better than old Bruce. Mastodon 2nd and Obituaries are great. Prefer the 1st Cavalera album, remember when that came out and it was all over the metal press. Even had front man from Gojira in it so think that helped.

Yes, the Mastodon and Obituary are awesome! That's fair enough man, I really like the first Cavalera album too! It's the first one I heard of theirs and it's got my favourite song Sanctuary on it! And yes, it has Joe from Gojira on it too! I just prefer Blunt Force Trauma as it's more Thrashy and groovy 😁😊🤘🏻

Great list, Liam! I recently shouted you out near the end of my latest video as an example of a TH-camr who can talk about problematic/controversial artists while fully being aware that the artists are terrible people. The video got a lot of views and was, uh, very heavily downvoted by NSBM fans. Beware of the comments I got on it if you get to watch it: it was a complete shitshow down in the comments section.

Pretty sure all Mortician albums have programmed drums.
I had heard the album 'Final Bloodbath Session' was one Roger Beaujard actually drums on. I was thinking out loud as that album has a lot of songs from Chainsaw Dismemberment on it.
