Games journalists went after Shadow Warrior 2 back in 2016 because they found it's humour too offensive. That might have something to do with SW3 being so soulless and unfunny.

@@Skrenja Same here. I prefer the previous one from 2016. And I hate that stupid platforming shit. These should be the games where you pick up a gun, pick up ammo and shoot but no, now you have to do this game of "use this to get ammo" and "use that to get health or armour", it's not difficult, it's just annoying. And to make that mechanic work they took away all the ammo. I finished Eternal but I don't feel like replaying it.
I knew this was going to be nothing like the other Shadow Warrior games as soon as it was announced. You couldn't bring the character of Lo Wang to life in a game in 2022 any more than you could revive Duke Nukem.
Yeah and somehow that is a bad thing now? Why? It should be something we all can benefit from over the coming years. Love it or hate it but doom Eternal shook a stale genre up to it's core and now we will have to see what other devs do with these ideas over the coming years.
@@bazzy5644 Exactly, some people say it's a clone. I'd call it a template and from there you can add your own flair. SW2 is a more tightly knit experience and me and my bro had a blast on it. Only complaint was the length of the game.
It bothers me that "parkour" shooters always have predetermined spots where you can wall run or grapple or whatever. Why not just go all the way and make (almost) everything traversable? "If I wanted to play Doom, I'd play Doom - Why would I play Shadow Warrior?" -- Ermm.. Mack, did you play Shadow Warrior in the 90s? You know what that was called don't ya? Yes that's right, it was a Doom clone. Shadow Warrior 2's gunplay was great n all, but the procedurally generated levels and enemies were shite and SOULLESS. THAT isn't Shadow Warrior. And if you're telling me Shadow Warrior 2 had really good humour that wasn't for 3 year olds, I don't know what to tell you. Ok maybe not 3, but 12 year olds... I do agree on the xray vision part though. That's a bummer.
I just laughed so hard while watching this video. I felt exactly same thing when Shadow warrior 2 came out. "This is not a shadow warrior game, This is a loot shooter using shadow warrior skin!" What a vicious cycle, huh.
I've played all the SW games, and my favourite is honestly either 2013 or this one. 2 was cool but not SW really ... Plus in this one we got the best sidekick, Hoji, back and on form. I also like the fact an Asian man, Mike Moh, is voicing Wang
Well Shadow Warrior from the start was Asian Duke Nukem, so the adolescent humor is part of its identity. Didn’t mind the procedurally generated levels given each individual zone was still handcrafted, and the upgrade system does allow enemies to not be too spongy. Really, my biggest issue with 2 was the progression does get grindy after a while. Once I hit about 2 or 3 playthroughs, trying to get higher level gems slowed down massively, as did the doling out of Orbs id Masamune when that was implemented. Luckily, Cheat Tables and a Save Editor let me skip all of that and even modify gems to my heart’s content, though the gems don’t seem to have any sort of “max level” so you could get some really, really broken weapons, like my Nobitsura Kage got up to 12k DPS. lol The devs probably never expected anyone to get that high, but the fact of the matter is it’s theoretically possible if you put thousands of hours crafting multiple high level gems to craft together into even higher level gems.
Only thing I didn't like about SW2 was the % based upgrade system. Adding stuff like 20% reload and 15% damage to small enemies is not very interesting in a FPS. And in early game the bonuses are so small they barely even matter. It's not until you have beaten the game once that the stats really start to show and become somewhat fun to play around with.
I think the first Shadow Warrior reboot absaloutly nailed it! It focused on Horizontal combat, the balancing, the weapons, the art style, the story where you felt grief for Hoji and felt like Neo when he's fully awakened when you have the fully upgraded sword, it was Great (but still not perfect). This however just looks like a desperate scramble to get back in to the good graces, I hate that it has verticallity because it doesn't work well with swordplay and it's a constant blur of luminesant colors constantly smearing the screen, between the muzzle flash, explosions, environment and enemies, it's makes for overloading visual flair.
I would have really liked the Shadow Warrior reboot, but I wish they would have just given each weapon with all the upgrades. It was a pain playing without the upgrades and having to earn them gradually. I also had the same complaint with Doom 2016. (Along with the weapon switch speed being WAY out of control. Once you discover weapon switch combos, the game becomes a cake walk even on Ultra-Violence and it loses a lot of its charm.)
Don't forget how different enemies had different weaknesses and ways to fight them. They could have went open world with it if they wanted to, put puzzles everywhere and such. But no. Potential lost.
The shadow warrior 1 is good but getting too repetitive after several levels. The enemies almost are the same. Using guns kinda feel odd. Last the levels are too long. But using the sword is fun with magical skills.
@@eatanotherzio6811 cause it's a good example of a game done right on top of the fact that doom was always a popular game the other 2 u mentioned are indeed also just as great but ofc ppl are gona compare it to one game that did it right unlike these failed attempts.
My sentiments exactly. I was so looking forward to this only to be massively disappointed. I enjoyed SW2 immensely. Created a wicked melee character. I played this the whole time thinking, “It’s Doom with a sword.” Wish I had watched this before I paid $. Shame on whoever developed this. Way to f up a franchise.
Also, the publisher tried to get woke and fired the original voice actor because "he wasn't Asian enough", then hired another VA (terrible BTW) who was supposed to be Chinese but ended up being Korean-American. Also 3 hours, you should finish it, you only have an hour left to finish the game.
New VA is capable of delivering a better performance as seen in Bruce lee story but that would require passion and for him to lean a little more into that problematic accent and we just can't have that now can we.
Maybe we should ask them if their team who made the Asian character are Asians too, or it is "racist" also, and they should remove the game from the store! :D
Oh so it was true that they fired the one who did the first and second ..? Wow pathetic way to ruin it lmao it was pure gold and fit so well in the game welp just another example of woke trash ruining everything with their reeeeeeecism.
SW2 had some level of running up walls with flat rocky surfaces marked with scratches, it was subtle enough to not be so in your face but still visible enough to see if you looked for it and you could also grab onto almost any ledges to climb up. Now we get frigging glowing neon foliage that just screams "USE WALLRUN HERE!! THIS WAY!! DO YOU SEE IT?!". It is so ridiculously insulting to the player.
I noticed that too, the original trailers didn't have that glow. There's barely any exploration or secrets in the levels too, it's mostly "Go this way!" No replay value.
I have to agree unfortunately. Trailers didn't really give a clue that this is going to be like what it is, yeah visuals and presentation is great, but as Mack said it's soulless and unimmersive and barely resembles previous installments. Absolute linearity and no exploration or secret hunting....such a let down from FWH.
I remember in the 2nd you had something similar, but it was attached to a skill, so it made sense. On the 3rd it makes no sense, guess it's to help low skilled players.
Both SW2 and SW3 are pretty much different games so I'm not surprised about the divisive opinions between the two games. Not that SW3 is a bad game, but anyone who loves SW2 is in for a jarring experience in SW3.
I tried out the "naval demo version" as I wasn't quite sold on what I'd seen so far. Huge fan of the OG, and first 2 remakes. The first remake had a great focus and enjoyabel campaign. The second remake certainly made a big departure into looter shooter territory, but the combat was so fluid and felt so good with so many weapons that I found it hard to put down. This third instalment felt like a huge step backwards and a loss of identity.
"naval demo version" Haha! I too have sailed the seas in order to determine whether games are worth purchasing before investing my money. I make a point of ALWAYS buying if I like it afterwards, even if I've already completed the game and have no interest of going back to it. Just so the devs keep making similar titles.
@@Globalgenocide "Naval" : of, in, or relating to a navy or navies. Completely incorrect. Sorry. Words have meaning. Some dude on TH-cam doesn't get to decide this.
You should have made a comparison on the 17 gameplay teaser they dropped and this, old wang VA was there, no green hooks (which looked absolutely fine without them) or puke wallrun spots. I don't think it had xray as well, so those trickster enemies actually were a challenge. Edit: Oh and i forgot to mention that overall the game looked better with better game effects etc. i don't know if the game could've been salvaged with those changes but atleast it would be "Worth A Buy"
This is my favourite review channel by far, their more personal and trustworthy than other more corporate channels. These silly Brit’s are my life fuel.
What is it with the all quasi-fantasy setting thing? What happened to the quaint Japanese towns, the factories, train yards, laboratories, ports, arcades, big ships, futuristic cities, and that that cool stuff that made Shadow Warrior unique; alongside the Yakusa, the old Japanese temples, cemeteries, and the fantasy type areas? What the hell. This game looks like a goddamn hellish nightmare in technicolor. Meh. I'll pass.
I would love a modern build engine game with a kickass protagonist with a set iconic theme, ION storm was an attempt but the main character sucked, she barely talked, and the setting was all over the place
Um, I knew this would be the case when I saw the screenshots, hence I didn't even bother. But... thanks for testing it out for us. It's exactly as I thought it would be.
Thanks again for your review, they almost fooled me with their trailer, but thankfully your review has clarified the hidden nightmare that is this game design.
5h long game with xray vision and executions and Wang being boring. He is right that it isn't worth a buy, but imo I think it might be worth a.... download ;)
Thanks for the review. I already decided not to buy it when they said it wouldnt have co-op. Co-op was the best part about the last one, and the only way I enjoyed playing it.
EXACTLY I wanted MORE Shadow warrior 2 what i got was a clone of a game i hated... and to add salt to my wounds the Doom fanboys are praising this garbage!
I'm surprised you didn't like it, a lot of people who loved doom eternal seem to really enjoy this, Underthemayo and Gmanlives are a good example, but each to their own I think it's pretty fun, just way too short. I kind of wish they had more interesting levels like the build engine games.
So you are surprised he didn't like it? You mean anyone who liked know what they are talking about? Where's the stealth mechanic from the old game? The endless customisation for weapons, different melee weapons. All the different spells. Fluidity in motion. Why do we pat devs in the back for cloning, and removing features off an otherwise excellent foundation. Thank God we have Worth a buy. Used to be that Totalbiscuit was the only one we could trust. Good to know someone honest is left on this platform.
@@WorthABuyreviews Yea, the new Doom games were fucking overhyped bollocks tbh. The only reason ppl liked them was because it was the first game in yonks that looked good and ran smooth and didn't have bugs (big fucking wow lol)
@Worth A Buy That's fair enough, Doom Eternals probably my favourite combat systems in a FPS game, its the only shooter I've completed multiple times upping the difficulty, coming from that I see why some people want shadow warrior to be similar. But at the same time it isolated everyone who liked the looter shooter aspect of the reboots and it lacks the replayability and polish from Doom Eternal. If it was 20 quid it'd definitely be wab I'd say. Just not at 45.
Man, I really really liked Shadow Warrior 2. Sure the procedural maps had some problems, but it was a very refreshing experience. This seems to just cut everything interesting about it like the looter shooter aspect, the procedural gore, the coop, the voice actor and the more open maps while not bringing anything new to the table at all. It's B-Team Doom. 4 hours for 60 dollars of that. Crazy considering my first playthrough of SW2 took me 40.
The ONLY shooter I ever enjoyed that RPG-lite crap in was Borderlands. And if I wanted to play Borderlands, I'd just play that, not SW2. Not saying SW3 was good here, but if I had to pick one, I'd pick SW3, because at least I don't have to play Microsoft Excel with my shooter.
Really strange how multiple developers preferred to throw away their own unique ideas of past titles and instead go for a bad copy of some other games gameplay. Is this now the games industry? Everything converging to one pile of the same, where everyone tries to copy the most successfuill games until everything is the same? Some open world call of duty battle royal hero based lootbox including live service whatever thing? Cause someone else made money much with that. Well so far we are lucky that there is always some worthwile alternative.
What are you talking about. Shadow warrior 2 throw away the concept of Shadow warrior 1 which was a single-campaign focused game, not a co-op loot shooter. Does modern SW series have an originality for fuck sake??
@@nepu47 true. I was mainly thinking about SW2 being mostly well received, you would expect the next part to follow in successfull footsteps instead of changing too much and being a Doom copy. But might be they tried to copy SW2 but failed. Its somewhere in a same direction. Generally speaking, I am thinking about Battlefield 2042, Dying Light 2 and maybe more titles I dont have in mind right now, that released in recent years, are a new part of an existing series but somehow fall flat. The last Far Cry wasnt received too well, but mostly because it was more of the same and no highlights. Not for trying to do something else. Seems like either way you can be doomed. Do too much of the same, you are boring. Try to reinvent and do something else, you annoy the fans and might end up a bad copy to a good original. In some way many failures are a consequence to their previous success. Triple A development has become so massive and expensive that you cannot afford to fail often and avoid any risk. You rather do the 6th variant of far cry or assassins creed than try something new. If you do something different, you try to follow in successfull footsteps, making your own take of a well received gameplay. Well whatever, one thing to notice is that we had a fair number of problematic releases and events in gaming in past years and it feels like something going off the tracks slowly. There is still plenty of good releases still. Maybe we just notice the failures more. Or we just notice them because now we often deal with x part of a franchise than just any new and different game without past history.
@@Wulfereene If you are talking about whole industry, I fully agree. I didn`t like when Evil within 2 became a pseudo open-world game. I thought that MGSV would be better like an old-school stage based game, not an open world game. But, If we are talking specifically about modern Shadow Warrior series, I don`t think that this was a step-back. I can agree that some people(or many people?) prefer 2 with co-op, and people would expect that genre, so this direction is something confusing. But this direction is more constant than becoming a loot shooter, because SW1 was an arena shooter with agile mobility and a katana action, which is SW3. Flying Wild Hog took a note from Doom Eternal, sure, but they want to maintain chi power and katana moves which is not in Doom Eternal. Even the control scheme for katana moves was same.
Ive never played a Shadow Warrior game but saw this pop up in my steam queue. Glad i waited for Macks review first. I might give the first and second ones a go
Or you can watch other reviews of the game and get wide range of opinions, both positive and negative, so you have a much more accurate view of what to expect from the game - instead of deciding whether or not a game is worth your time based upon the personal opinion of *one* person 😑 I love Mack's reviews too, but I also watch plenty of other reviews too when a new game comes out and I take them all into consideration before deciding whether or not to buy a game.
Shadow Warrior 2 became a classic because of the wonderful big open maps, weapon variety/upgrades, secrets to discover, the awesome voice of Lo Wang, this is a bad Doom ripoff that deserved 5 minutes before I refunded it,this is how you destroy a franchise. Shame...but I always have SW2...Who wants some Waaaang. Keep up the good work Mack.
It never became a classic, they even gave it away free. I have no idea what parallel universe you escaped from. But the only cult hit / guilty pleasure game in this series was the one TB did a video on in 2013, may he rest in piece.
I seriously don't like these arena shooters, just because DOOM Eternal did it well doesn't mean every shooter has to copy it. I don't know what people find fun about Platforming>Kill enemies in an Arena>Platforming>Kill enemies in an Arena>Platforming>Kill enemies in an Arena x 100. I miss it when these games had super creative immersive levels to explore, find secrets and keycards, enemy placements all that jazz.
We barely even get shooters like these unless it's an indie. When was the last time we had a triple A shooter that plays like Doom Eternal. You still got wolfenstein, BL, FC, Metro, Halo and other shooters that don't play anything like Doom or Doom Eternal minus Shadow warrior
@@darthmisogyny3828 Too bad all the new games you mentioned I dont like and arent anything like an oldschool FPS. With all the indie FPS games copying DOOM Eternal now, I just find myself going back to Quake, DOOM 1&2 and Duke Nukem etc.
They must have sold out and went the "safe" route. Sad and makes me mad because Shadow Warrior 2 was a gem combat and gameplay mechanic wise. Why so many steps back from that?
@@unstableordinance O wow. Good to know. I like both dudes but sometimes i agree with Mack about a game he says is crap and ACG is over there acting like its amazing. At the same time though, if you watch ACG podcast, hes a pretty hyped dude, maybe he just loves everything. Some people are like that but.....yeah.....in all likelihood, maybe he takes bribes.
I wasn't a fan of the shadow warrior games (not because they are bad, just FPS isn't my cuppa tea) but MY GOD, it beggars belief how the devs fuck up a game this much! Shadow Warriors 2 was great wasn't it? Why didn't they just improve the graphics, add more guns and abilities and make better levels and story? Why do devs always feel the urge to re-invent a successful formula into a derivative heap of shite? Mind blown
I think it should be compared to the original expansion packs of old, back ages ago we would get games that had expansion packs that were well worth it, like diablo 2 expansion LOD, Starcrafts brood war etc, now they are just too overpriced
You're right. I just bought the port for Android for $3 which says it includes one, two, and three. I remember how good the game was and they did good with onscreen controls. Haven't found too many problems not caused by Tyniscreen!! Grasshopper.
Shadow warrior 2 wasn't shadow warrior. It was a shitty open world loot shooter. Much rather play 5 hours of this then 40 hours of find the loot. Shadow warrior has always been a doom like game since the original. The game should be longer and they shouldn't of changed voice actors but other then that it's good.
Someone who liked the second one not liking the 3rd installment is the best recommendation I can get. 2nd one was a disaster. pointless infinite irrigation mob spawn in uninspired generic arenas. #3 seems much closed to #1 which I really liked .. happy to get this recommended here. Also - in SW the main is the sword.. the guns are secondary weapons.. seems like the whole gameplay showed had it the wrong way around.
I don't think I've ever been repulsed by a game's aesthetics before. The game gives me real Serious Sam 2 vibes -- tons of color but without any charm, appeal or even a basic theme. And what the hell is up with the enemy design in this game? Almost everything looks like a giant pinata, like they're about to explode into skittles upon dying. At least in SW2 the enemies looked like actual creatures instead of looking like a bunch of esoteric shapes stitches together by someone on an acid trip.
Hell Let Loose is worth the review mack it will refresh your view on FPS shooters, its like no other game. Brutaly hard but very good if you play together
You confirmed my fears. Just when I was watching the trailers with all the shitty wall running I knew this would be bad. So it ended up being just a worse Doom Eternal. Well, I really disliked Doom Eternal for that matter with the shift to the whole forced glory kill system and the bloody jump and run segments. It's a shame what became of those great franchises. And it's only going to get worse from here on in...
I'm with ya Darth. I didn't like Doom Eternal either. Definitely didn't feel like a proper Doom game. Far too much par core and jumping around for me. I go back to the old games of the 90s for my fix. So much better! This looks like more of the same. Hey I guess a lot of folks seem to dig it, and that's fine. Just not for me.
It's a shame all the SW 3 reviews on TH-cam talk about loving the first two Shadow Warrior games, yet nobody mentions the original 90s Shadow Warrior. Come on, you goddamn peasants. Go play the original. It's awesome!
why do these games go the doom route? I really hated the kill button addition to the new doom and then all the platforming, it's just horrible. Early 2000s FPS games is still where it's at, not since been topped.
Honestly I like how each entry in this franchise is very different to its predecessor, reminds me of Darksiders in that sense. 1 is a traditional reboot, 2 is a more open looter shooter and 3 is doom eternal-like. I find that unique. I do wish this game was twice as long though.
@@blastboi3742 I think co-op wouldn’t have worked with the small arena-like level design they chose for this game, imo it worked in 2 because it was more open.
@@blastboi3742 Because coop was terrible in SW2 that's why. A good coop game needs teamwork. SW2 it was pretty much solo but you had your buddy flying around who you could barely see half the time. That's just tacked on coop not well designed coop. I'm not sure why mack wants every fps game to be a ubisoft game but oh well.
@@Challerz eh, I prefer most of my games singleplayer but SW2 felt borderlands-esque co-op and I had fun. It would be boring and repetitive singleplayer imo kinda like borderlands is. don't see why you would play this new entry when you can play doom.

Did you ever play Shadow Warrior 2 or are you just riding on mack's warped bullshit here? How is Borderlands style looter shooter - which is exactly what the second game in this rebooted SW series was any more true to the original than this? Oh also how the fuck is this less true to it than the first from 2013? I get a feeling no one even looked at the games they compare this to in years and just go along with the bullshit mack says in this video not having gone back to the first game himself, apparently..
I’m 30 years old and have played every Shadow Warrior everything, including the 90’s original and every single one of its expansions as I already said above. I don’t even know what the hell you’re talking about. I don’t know this channel at all, I didn’t even know this guy’s name is Mack. I watched a review, and it seems short, sounds like the humor doesn’t land, the VOICE ACTOR CHANGED, again, a huge gripe i have personally, and that they didn’t innovate at all. As others have state, the game has changed drastically from its first ever gameplay trailer, meaning it probably suffered the same fate as Bioshock Infinite. The beta was nothing like the final product and so it felt passionless and garbage. I don’t know why you’re cussing or basically telling me I’m thoughtless because I listened to what a reviewer had to say before throwing 50 bucks at a game that probably isn’t as good as the first two? You can fuck right off, I’m so sick of every time I post anywhere on the internet no matter how harmless it is, some little shit eating snot-rag comes out of the woodwork to judge me. I said NOTHING about being “true to the original” even ONCE, I just said I was a longtime fan. Learn to read before you win your fucking internet points. Sick of people like you.
Has anyone mentioned the audio on these latest videos? there seems to be some static to his voice or something, just saying in case others havent mentioned it because older videos were great the last few since the arm accident are alittle robotic or something
It's not even Doom Eternal if it's that forgiving, at least it isn't on the harder difficulties. On Nightmare you have to use everything at your disposal to kill fast enough you aren't killed first
I absolutely HATE these arena shooter style single player campaigns. It's like someone played a WoW raid and said "You know what would be great? This as a first person shooter!" No! No it's not! It completely takes any personality and creativity out of level design. All you do is run down straight path to spawn point and repeat. There is no thought put into over all level design because all that matters is getting to the arena then killing everything there. You know those arcade games with the silly guns attached at the front? This is what the modern FPS has become. Auto walk 3 feet this way then fire at endless spawning enemies and repeat until out of quarters. I'm done.... Fuck you gaming industry!

Nicely written and observed
Agreed, original was good, reboot was great. Second one sucked, this one looks even worse, somehow...
The shadow warrior 1 is good but getting too repetitive after several levels. The enemies almost are the same. Using guns kinda feel odd. Last the levels are too long. But using the sword is fun with magical skills.
"This is an unfunny doom eternal 5 hour piece of shit" 😂😂 golden, cheers for the reviews lad
It sucks balls everyone compares fast paced arena modern shooters to eternal now
When Bulletstorm and Rage 2 were made prior
@@eatanotherzio6811 cause it's a good example of a game done right on top of the fact that doom was always a popular game the other 2 u mentioned are indeed also just as great but ofc ppl are gona compare it to one game that did it right unlike these failed attempts.
The game is amazing tho
He forgot to get his honorary Asian card renewed, sad.
What, really? That VA fit so well
Oh so it was true that they fired the one who did the first and second ..?
I torrented it and finished in 4 hours. Was alright, glad I didn't spend 50 quid on it. Ridiculous price.
Yeah I got for 13 cents
I have to agree unfortunately. Trailers didn't really give a clue that this is going to be like what it is, yeah visuals and presentation is great, but as Mack said it's soulless and unimmersive and barely resembles previous installments. Absolute linearity and no exploration or secret hunting....such a let down from FWH.
Also the variety of locations and lvls everything just seems to be one spot.
Even sw2 did better variety.
I remember playing the original 1997 version. That was something.
The X ray vision song had me in hysterics! Those laughs were the tonic I muchly needed! Thank you Mac! Keep fighting the good fight! 😁
"Naval" makes absolutely no sense.
None.
@@nexxusty Actually it makes perfect sense if you know what we're referring to.
During storms it's best to take your ships into a bay to avoid damage.
@@Globalgenocide "Naval" : of, in, or relating to a navy or navies.
Completely incorrect.
Sorry.
Words have meaning. Some dude on TH-cam doesn't get to decide this.
@@nexxusty You have to be trolling... If you're serious that might even be sadder though.
Shadow Warrior 2 was the bomb. Why not carry on with the looter style that was so fun to rank up and explore!
Meh. I'll pass.
Would love to see a retro review for the original Shadow Warrior from the late 90s. It's so much better than this current trilogy.
+1 for this
Dude, Civvie 11...different from Mack for sure, but he's got 90s games for DAYS!
I would love a modern build engine game with a kickass protagonist with a set iconic theme, ION storm was an attempt but the main character sucked, she barely talked, and the setting was all over the place
Old Shadow Warrior was a Doom clone, it seems they wanted to go back there, but failed. Now the 2013 reboot was actually a great and underated FPS...
Glad to hear you're back in the seat and kicking ass.
I'm gutted. Loved 1&2 and was really looking forward to this.
Then buy it. Don't listen to him.
Mack have you played the Gloomwood demo? Same creators as Dusk.
Um, I knew this would be the case when I saw the screenshots, hence I didn't even bother. But... thanks for testing it out for us. It's exactly as I thought it would be.
Shadow Warrior 2 is my all time favourite game. Thanks good reviw Mack.
Same here. What a disappointment.
Thanks again for your review, they almost fooled me with their trailer, but thankfully your review has clarified the hidden nightmare that is this game design.
5h long game with xray vision and executions and Wang being boring. He is right that it isn't worth a buy, but imo I think it might be worth a.... download ;)
If you have psnow it’s free
@Eclipze no lag if you download the game which shadow warrior 3 is so there is that lol
Thanks Mack. You just saved me $60. Loved first 2 games. This ain’t Shadow Warrior
If you have psnow it’s free so there that
Disagree. SW2 wasn't Shadow Warrior because it was a looter shooter.
I agree with your review & found it to be a grind on the first play.
Thanks for the review. I already decided not to buy it when they said it wouldnt have co-op. Co-op was the best part about the last one, and the only way I enjoyed playing it.

GJ MACK!
will you review SYNTHETIK 2?
Well, at least we got to hear the x-ray vision song again. :D
Gmanlives said it's one of the best new FPS games
WorthaBuy said it sucks
I don't know who to trust
It's alright, but don't worth 50 bucks AT ALL. Maybe 15 or 20 max.
just wait for Ranton, Skill up and AngryJoe's Review XD
EXACTLY I wanted MORE Shadow warrior 2 what i got was a clone of a game i hated... and to add salt to my wounds the Doom fanboys are praising this garbage!
A linear Shadow Warrior 2 without all the rubbish looting would have been perfect.
I think this is infinitely better than 2 and a more direct sequel to SW2013, but you're review had me in stitches
No words required. I know just from watching the footage that if I will need a Shadow Warrior fix I will play the first sequel.
''nothing glows''
hits harder when watching this gameplay
I'm surprised you didn't like it, a lot of people who loved doom eternal seem to really enjoy this, Underthemayo and Gmanlives are a good example, but each to their own I think it's pretty fun, just way too short. I kind of wish they had more interesting levels like the build engine games.
The whole notion of shooting things to drop ammo or health does not work for me and the added X-Ray vision and 5 hour length were turn offs.
@@WorthABuyreviews 5 hours really looks like I'm waiting for a sale damm was looking forward to it
@Worth A Buy That's fair enough, Doom Eternals probably my favourite combat systems in a FPS game, its the only shooter I've completed multiple times upping the difficulty, coming from that I see why some people want shadow warrior to be similar. But at the same time it isolated everyone who liked the looter shooter aspect of the reboots and it lacks the replayability and polish from Doom Eternal. If it was 20 quid it'd definitely be wab I'd say. Just not at 45.
They use the funny trick to have the players health drop much slower when its really low, to create more (cheap) excitement.
Like Doom Eternal does?
Cheers Mack, was on the fence on this one.
Stellar sync-up on the XRV clip. Gawjuss.
Is it, is it, is ittttttt
ahh yes :D i keep getting that xray vision song in my head ^^ just lovely
If you would have told me this was a doom mod I would have believed you.
X ray vision should be made into a single

I'd buy it
Could see it being a chart topper
Ive never played a Shadow Warrior game but saw this pop up in my steam queue. Glad i waited for Macks review first. I might give the first and second ones a go
Or you can watch other reviews of the game and get wide range of opinions, both positive and negative, so you have a much more accurate view of what to expect from the game - instead of deciding whether or not a game is worth your time based upon the personal opinion of *one* person 😑
I love Mack's reviews too, but I also watch plenty of other reviews too when a new game comes out and I take them all into consideration before deciding whether or not to buy a game.
@@bazzy5644 you have the right to your opinion, all the best.
I loved 1, didn't like 2 at all. The hub made it feel like a series of levels without the progression you got in 1.

Mind blown
What do you think about the new risk of rain 2 dlc ?
I think it should be compared to the original expansion packs of old, back ages ago we would get games that had expansion packs that were well worth it, like diablo 2 expansion LOD, Starcrafts brood war etc, now they are just too overpriced
i was looking forward to this , god damit
From which video is x-ray vision song? I mean which was the 1st one?
You're right. I just bought the port for Android for $3 which says it includes one, two, and three. I remember how good the game was and they did good with onscreen controls. Haven't found too many problems not caused by Tyniscreen!! Grasshopper.
It looked like the enemies were dancing to his x ray song

3 is nothing like 2013, this game is terrible
You read my mind Mr. Mack
Looking at some of the 'glory kill' animations in your footage... this isn't even a design copy of Doom Eternal, it's a fucking reskin. Holy fuck.
2022 off to an amazing start O_o
Hi Mack! were is your Halo infinite Review?
Just a heads up, it's called "Halo Infinite"!
I guess it's fitting since the original game back in 1997 was a doom clone

You confirmed my fears. Just when I was watching the trailers with all the shitty wall running I knew this would be bad. So it ended up being just a worse Doom Eternal. Well, I really disliked Doom Eternal for that matter with the shift to the whole forced glory kill system and the bloody jump and run segments. It's a shame what became of those great franchises. And it's only going to get worse from here on in...
You didn't like doom eternal so the franchise is going downhill? Ok whatever you're saying.

I'm with ya Darth. I didn't like Doom Eternal either. Definitely didn't feel like a proper Doom game. Far too much par core and jumping around for me. why do these games go the doom route? I really hated the kill button addition to the new doom and then all the platforming, it's just horrible.
Early 2000s FPS games is still where it's at, not since been topped.
Honestly I like how each entry in this franchise is very different to its predecessor, reminds me of Darksiders in that sense. 1 is a traditional reboot, 2 is a more open looter shooter and 3 is doom eternal-like. I find that unique. I do wish this game was twice as long though.
reasonable statement but its kind've blowing my mind that they removed co-op
@@blastboi3742 I think co-op wouldn’t have worked with the small arena-like level design they chose for this game, imo it worked in 2 because it was more open.
@@blastboi3742 Because coop was terrible in SW2 that's why. A good coop game needs teamwork. SW2 it was pretty much solo but you had your buddy flying around who you could barely see half the time. That's just tacked on coop not well designed coop.

Jesse, what the fuck are you talking about?
I agree I miss the great level design of the old build engine with all the interactivity, and absolutely hate arena type shooters, totally brainless
