I think it's brilliant to make a game with very little actual gameplay. Not much programming needed, hardly any bugs to quash, no real need for updates. Basically they figured out how to charge people $60 to watch a movie. Game developers 2023: "Since gamers won't play our games the way WE want them to we're removing that choice, WE see it as positive reinforcement."
Admittedly i did balk at buying the game because it was so expensive, but after having watched all the video's you have done, i came to the conclusion that i would have second thoughts about buying it even if it was £10 in a steam sale, thanks for your efforts, you have saved me some money!

Loved the short first impression gameplay vids! They were hilarious. You should do those more often. Kinda felt like this game was gonna be rough just from watching the first few minutes of it. Thank you for suffering through it so others don't have to!
Having been around since the ZX81 as my first computer, i can say i used to relish the cut scenes in games, they were a treat. Seems like Hollywood and triple A gaming are trying to merge on various levels. Only glad i was around through the best of the 8, 16 and 32 bit days when maximum effort was given toward the gamers experience and nothing else. Not always great but always crafted with love.
Funny I recall there being a lot of clones in those days, a game would release and several dozen would follow of the exact same thing only they would be about Mario or the Ghostbusters or Bugs Bunny. Gaming hasn't always been a ray of sunshine blasting out your ass honestly and gaming was good up until ten years ago. You was just a teenager in a time when gaming was in its infancy. Gaming has truly become complete dogshite nowadays as I am sure most will agree, Forspoken is £65 for something worse in every single way to Witcher 3 and God of War.
I’m surprised you never thumbed this one down. Apart from the wildly excessive cut scene usage, unbearable protagonist, BORING storytelling , a lifeless open world, average graphics and spammy combat.. I really don’t see the problem. 10/10 need a sequel

Hey Mac! Hilarious review lol. It's terrible what modern "writers" and "developers" dare to release. It's a hecking joke. But speaking of games and especially Indie games, I can highly recommend checking out Against the Storm. It's such a great game, maybe one of my favourites this year. It's still in early access, but man is it good and well made. More polished than some fully released games are. The artstyle, the music and sounds, the gameplay and the entire universe, it's all just great.
I remember watching a review/introductiom by Splattercatgaming and I checked the game out again after reading your comment - it is not my cup of tea, I will definitely never buy this game, but the thing is, this game has heart and soul. I don't have to like it, but I have to appreciate that the devs are not just going through the motions and are checking boxes. Forspoken, on the other hand, is just doing this and even worse, it refuses to take the player seriously. Add to this the most annoying woke charakter and you have something I would not touch with a ten feet pole. By now, I am just annoyed by crap that seems only exist to boss the player around both gameplay- and, much worse, ideology-wise

I am actually not big into strategy and colony management games (aside from oxygen not included), but this one is just different for me, because it's easy to pick up, but difficult to master! I've tried many 4x games and the likes, but I lack the skills and I also have a difficult time finding satisfaction because some of them take ages to get going. Here I get immediate fun.. something that's not always present in the genre. The graphics remind me of warcraft 3 or old league of legends.. it.. hits a certain spot down nostalgia lane and the races are all so cool :) Also agree on Forspoken. Seems just so out of touch with how actual human beings behave. Beyond stupid writing and handholding gamedesign. The worst things a game can offer.

If something is woke, its usually also the reason why the gameplay is bad, usually that means they havent hired the best people for the job but the right groups in the progressive hierachy.
Love it. Not only are your videos entertaining and informative on what to buy/not to buy, but as a small indie game dev they are also a lesson on what to do and what not to do and should be played in colleges and uni's throughout the country. You know those small things like allow the player to play the game and allow the player to rebind the keys are lessons I will try to adhere to 🤣

I was playing Police Quest 3 the other day (emulated on the Amiga) - Even now, today, with all the advances in games, it's an absolute gem of a game. Holds your hand about as much as a father that left the household when you were 6 months.

I was playing Police Quest 3 the other day (emulated on the Amiga) - Even now, today, with all the advances in games, it's an absolute gem of a game. Holds your hand about as much as a father that left the household when you were 6 months.

This game shows what AAA devs think of their customers: they think we’re idiots who can’t play a game well, so they make sure to give every single player the exact same experience no matter how bad they are.
