Brain drain is real.
Cities like Kota are such a big example of the dark truth of the education industry. Education has become a business, not a passionate thing over here in India. It used to be like the fact that the intelligent and the determinant succeeded, now every run-of-a-mill dumb person wants to become a Doctor. And that's where Kota thrives from.
As someone who studied in Kota, I can confidently say that the atmosphere in Kota is like a black-and-white movie, which is depicted well in Kota Factory.
When I joined Allen for the first time, I was given almost the same demotivational speech they gave to the new students in the series. It took me 5 years to clear that depressional trauma. When I received the news of my passing of my final year exams, that was when I felt the happiest that I have ever been in my life.
And I am just fed up with the PG competition over here too. If you have to study even harder, and still work your ass off to get a seat, why not just study for USMLE or other FMGE exams instead?
That's the mentality of some of us, and I am glad that there are only some of us that think this way. Otherwise, it would be another hell of a competition there too.
Anyways, a nice video as always, Dr. Manik! Your channel has always been an inspiration to me to write my own story.
competition is everywhere ; if you’re not meant for it, doesn’t necessarily mean the system is flawed, for a certain extent it is, but if you feel you can’t take it, why join medicine??? take sm bsc course or ba course and live competition free

My logic is that I have to fight wherever I go. Why shouldn't I try for the FMGE/USMLE route first?

Simple statistical fact.
India cannot support this exponential increase in Residencies, Doctors will be under employed and eventually be under employed.

And it’s even difficult for fmg students in India for post grad and with limited seats and reservation. It’s better to do residency in USA or abroad.
Exactly
Reservation is 60% now , and congress wanted to increase it more if they would have won
Bro 65% In Neet pg and Even Ini have internal quota now 50% of so called General seats are reserved
I'm from reserved category but also wants to move abroad
Trust me bro 🙏
80% of Indian population are aborigines and they get 50% only , while for 20% population who are well to do have 50% won't this suffice. How much more do u want ?
@@mohanmohan-jr7zf just want a merit based system
Yeah . Indian residency is a joke . People are literally doing menial work which a doctor is not supposed to do plus the toxicity and working hours are insane . The compensation for all this is really poor as well. Can’t wait to start my fellowship in US .
One point you didn't mention is even after getting admitted in government medical college you have to sign a personal bond with the state bond can range from 20 lacs to 50 lacs if you are not willing to work with the government ...so many Indian doctors have limited choice to go abroad because of those bonds ..
Same reality in the Philippines. Bad residency training conditions force people to go to UK/Aus/US.
Sir, I am not a doctor, nor an aspirant of the same. I am in a completely different trajectory, but this is still heavily relatable. Most of Indian systems and intuitional procedure have become like a snail leaching off of the students until they bleed them dry. Due to this people go abroad so that they get leached off when at least getting paid good.
Awesome video very thankful ❤
Totally agree with you..usmle is better option for become doctor…and india have reservation its very shameful…
I'm also moving for abroad after completing my doctor degree.... I don't want to stay on this corrupt country😂

Hmm, for mbbs degree are you going...?
Hi Dr Madaan, glad to see u doing well.
Noticed in the video that u displayed a job offer u had got in Hershey.
Is Hershey an underserved area ? I thought Indian citizens/IMGs should serve in underserved areas for 2-3 years after residency.
Or have they changed the rules?
Due to paper leak issue in india 😢😢👊🏼👊🏼
Great Dr Manik. Ur videos wd be eyeopener of Indian Medical Graduate.
A good bulk of doctors are leaving India every year and looking at the conditions of doctors in India, this number is only going to increase.
But USA is no more the top choice for doctors wanting to settle abroad. There are European countries as well as Middle Eastern countries which are giving great opportunities to doctors from India. Many are also going to certain African countries. The choices are a lot at this point, specially considering the fact that MD/MS/DNB are being recognized by majority countries abroad. So if someone wants to leave, USA is no more the best option, according to me.
Can you pls enlighten me regarding the countries which recognize our indian pg degrees?
These type of videos motivates 😃
when do people need to start preparing for step 1 ( from first year of mbbs itself or .. )
I totally agree with you sir, even for UG we are suffering in 2024,so I have also decided to take a private medical college as there is no option left to me in the current situation, which is kims Bengaluru(so i will be one of your junior), and then i have decided to go for usmle, hope to get guidance from you sir.🙏

@@viranthvenkatesh2436is the question paper very easy or your gen of neet ug aspirants very smart cz in our time rarely people used to get above 600
I don’t get the concept of reservation at PG level that too 60% and i am sure its going to increase by the current government for votes…At UG level its fine we somehow fight and get the seat but it gets very difficult at this stage…Rather than putting so much of hardwork and time its better to prepare for USMLE

What makes you think ' you r one of the best docs in india " !! 99.99 percent who have left india for usa have been average students & the ones with more money to spare......money plays a bigger role in usmle journey , which most of us cant even think of affording it....india lacks research, india celebrates mediocrity...going to the usa for residency doesnt make you the best doc in india😂😂...come on!!!
Aren't you supposed to give step 1 and 2 before mbbs ends? How did you end up giving neet pg before step 1? Genuine question.
not necessarily, it's just easier to get electives and so and so when you're doing your mbbs but it's very much possible to get into us after your mbbs, it's just a bit harder

You are right about the hurdles doctors face in India, but sorry to burst your bubble, I am from one of India's leading medical colleges (in Delhi), and almost all of my batches toppers are staying back. You fail to understand that academic advancement and more money are not motivating factors for everyone. A lot of them stayed back for family and friends. US might be better in a lot of ways, but it's high time you stop portraying it as a magical land where all problems disappear. It just has a different set of problems and it's okay to choose what "drain" you want to live in.
Idk abt u but academic advances and money are still pretty big factors
Im not doctor ofc but seeing the way doctors are treated in India is quite horrible compared to us
I saw on twitter yesterday talking abt how he's seen 11 abuse cases of interns in last week alone

There's not much ragging there either (atleast in AIIMS)
And delhi colleges don't represent the general situation of medical colleges themself

Toxic and unsupportive working environment , overtly streched duty hours many of which comprises of mundane activities, and many institutes in India is just incapable to expose the post graduate students to latest skillset and interventions to their concerned domain, these are mostly the reasons due to which almost 1200 pg residents are compelled to drop out from pg course inspite of hefty seat leaving bond amount. If there were no seat leaving bond amount, I can say that more than 50% of pg residents wd hv left from the course. These r some snapshots of pathetic state of affairs of doctors in India.
