I took a drop for neet pg this year, I am a 2017 batch mbbs student. If i start this year, can I justify my drop years and is it possible? The only thing that is holding me back is that it takes so long to get in, like neet pg - if you do it 3 years and its done - the pg. But usmle is too long the preparation thing.

Hey I was on the same boat as you.I took a drop FOR neet pg.Slowly I realised that I didn’t want to do pg from India.I was also 2017 batch.I did have an interest towards usmle during college days but eventually dropped the idea after internship. After a break of 12 months,I joined as a non academic JR in general medicine at a private med colg and I have started to prepare myself for step 1.The only thought that is keeping me up is that we have only one life so why not follow what we love.

That's the hard part not the steps involved.

Hi Dr., your video is encouraging. I have passed my MBBS from India in 2000 and completed my MS Anatomy in 2006. I have heard from somewhere that after such a huge gap, US Medical colleges do not give credits for foreign medical courses, person has to do entire MBBS/MD all over again in the US, is that true?

I'm an Indian student studying in Kazakhstan right now
Let's say that I completed my Under graduation in medicine (MBBS) from Kazakhstan, did 1 year Internship in Kazakhstan and got a licence to work as a doctor in Kazakhstan.
Then if I took USMLE and cleared it (cleared all the steps). After that I did my PG (let's say a PG in Ortho for example) in the United States and became an Orthopedic surgeon.
Then i decided to move back to my country (India)
So my question is in this scenario will I be able to work as a orthopaedic surgeon in India?
(Do note that I haven't taken the Fmg exam and didn't do 1 year internship in india, thus I'm not a doctor to begin with in India)
So will I be able to work as a orthopaedic surgeon in India after all of these steps

Do you have any assurance that once you get into a residency you will be able to fullfill the course or you can be fired anytime in the course if the authority wants to?
And do any fmg anytime feel lonely/insecured there?

Will be grateful if you reply each of the questions

    • @ApurvaPopat
      @ApurvaPopat  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Entering a residency program typically offers a good level of security, provided you maintain satisfactory performance and adhere to professional standards. For foreign medical graduates (FMGs), it's common to feel isolated or insecure at times due to cultural and language barriers, but there are often support systems and communities in place to help. Upon completing residency, job prospects are generally favorable, though the ease of finding a position as an attending can depend on your specialty and location.

I shall be giving Step 2 next month. I have done Uworld more than twice. But in the tests of NBME, Uworld, Amboss I am getting 65-70 % only. However on review of incorrect answers I am finding that the correct answers were known to me but because of time pressure in test I answered wrong. Could you please suggest tips to improve in about 3 weeks time left.

Hey Dr apurva .. i am done with my step 1 and preparing for step 2 at present .. I could relate to almost everything you talked about in your video ..Honest and realistic discussion unlike some other channel which focus on passing steps just in 3 months or 5 months while it is taking 1 year for some students and it just get depressing sometimes and puts many students in a feeling that they are lagging behind ! Good effort doc!
Just want a suggestion that while i am preparing for my step 2 , how important it is on my part to work along with my preparation to fill up my gap ? Does it really matter ? Being a mother of a 2 yr old it is difficult for me to work alongside my prep. . Is this gonna effect my match ?

What about the visa in a long term? i know residency will be sponsered and hospital sponsers...but what about after 5-10 yrs....it takes 15 yr+ for green card according to current line....then itll be a long time till permanent residence right?

    • @ApurvaPopat

In the long term, while sponsored residency provides stability, getting a green card can take many years. Renewing visa when you apply for job may be a reasonable option.

Hello sir, thanks for your video i think i have some info about the exam.
I just gave neet ug 2024 and will not be getting govt clg as rank is 70k, already taken 2 drops and this year i had dry eye due to qllergy which cause 37% meiobium gland loss and not able to give neet ug properly, but i think i am good at observing thing and research things since middle school but it was not any use as neet ug is just about cramming, i have to cram each and 3very line of ncert which is just not my thing, i tend to use 2,3 books then study topic concepts by my own, mean in short i am very good at physics and only understand physics concept and never learnt any formula, i derive fromula when needed
Sir plz tell is this what usmle checks and can i crack it if i have this type of thinking and understanding, or it will be just this neet ug in which i have to cram every line of ncert.
And also last, you replied in many comments that marrow is good for neet pg and have to use resouraes specified for usmle, so if i just start studing dor usmle step 1 from 2nd year start onwards as you mentioned in your video, and in during internship if i study for usmle will i able to crack neet pg just for backup, mean they are coorelated or i uave to study differently for both.
Added later- sir i had reviewed your published research on pubmed, so i today watched some korean movie, their i find a main point due to which majority of korean movies are just very good and okay okay good, very less will say that the movie/drama is very bad, for example is this called as reserach if i do this tyoe of observations in medical field and write a journal or i have to do research that no one had thought and should be stictly medical field based like relation between spics and dry eye syndrome.

If u wanted to do an MBA then why the hell did you pursue a career in medicine. One more thing I want to add here is that US healthcare is one of the worst in the developed world not the best!! It's all about corporate medicine controlled by big pharma and heal insurance cartels. Physicians are just corporate slaves in America especially if they are working as a hospitalist.
