Sir , I am starting now . I am 2 years post mbbs ( grad of 2022) . By the time I apply in 2026 September , I will be around 4 years post mbbs . I want to match in pediatrics. I am working as a medical officer in a pvt hospital, I did one year of non academic jrship in a government medical college post mbbs ( in Emergency Medicine). If I can manage to get good grades ( at least 250+ in CK , with couple of case reports, 5-6m of usce and step 3 ) will it be enough to match or will my graduation year bring down my chances ? Do you suggest to do home country residency first and then try for usmle ?

@@ApurvaPopat few of my friends who already cleared step one said that getting into plastic surgery or gastroenterology and some other residencies is pretty difficult for Indian Medical Graduates

Sir. I’m one year post internship and have prepared for neet. I haven’t done any research articles to build up my cv. Please provide me some advice on how I can prepare for usmle in this condition

How is branch decided there? Like if someone wants to be pediatrician then....like in india its the neet pg rank that decide which branch u will get....
Basically grads apply for particular speciality , which has certain no. of residency program ( seats type ) , if the program likes your application - you are offered an interview ! In feb u and the program will rank order like imagine ur top 1 priority is to get in to neurosurgery 2nd is derma ... , etc and the program ranks u anywhere btwn 1-115 ( around 115 neurosurgery residency program exist ) , you get into neurosurgery and so on . Key here is to make sure that your top 10 list is precise & apply for plenty of interview as you apply let's say 100 interview you will be called upon only for 15-20 . I am no expert but I hope this helped. Watch some detailed videos abt usmle from Dr . Manik !

How long usmle journey is after giving usmle step 1 in 3rd year (mbbs) in india and then when to go for step 2 and and then when to go for step 3 ? And it here is no post graduation in medical in usa ? Or it is included into usmle preparation?
For the USMLE journey, it’s recommended to take Step 1 during your third year of MBBS. You can then take Step 2 during your internship or after completing it. Step 3 should ideally be taken before starting residency if you plan to apply for an H1 visa. However, if you are okay with a J1 visa, or if you already have a green card or U.S. citizenship, you can take Step 3 while in residency.
