I love seeing videos like this. You hear a majority of people just respond "oh my god! that skua just stole that penguin's egg! poor penguin!" Then I get to say "Uhh, why is everyone downplaying the skua's tenacity and intelligence? If you ask me, he EARNED that egg!"

There are, without exaggeration, hundreds of thousand of penguins, a lost egg here and there won't hurt the population. Preventing the predator from eating the food it got fair and square is a pretty shallow thing to do, and makes you worse than what you _think_ the predators are, remove the killers in nature, _everything goes to shit_ , all this and I never mention giant petrels, which make skuas look peaceful by comparison Anyway, rant over

Sadly Rockhopper's only lay one egg (I believe). This happens all the time for penguins. Only roughly 20% of Emperor Penguin chicks make it to adult hood. Gotta be strong to be a penguin
